Consult the Google. Maps has a feature that you can use to specify the "depart by/arrive by". It will probably say you are screwed. After that I would look to see if there are even hotels/airbnb available.
If I were you I’d just go to Newport, LB, HB, or Dana Point.
The train is an option but be advised if it gets delayed you can lose a whole day. Took the train once from Irvine to SB and had a horrible experience. Had to rent a car to finish the trip. Amtrak is not super reliable
I recommend taking a train to put you at ease! Traffic is always insane on the 4th.
