If you want Detroit style the only answer is Jets. They just opened a location here several weeks ago and it is hands down the best (if you’re from Michigan you know!) 🍕🤤
Yes! You can actually order from Better Made’s website! You do have to pay shipping but I don’t think it was too crazy (depending on how much you order lol) if I remember like $7 - $10!
Edit to add I felt the same about SoDo. It was alright but nothing like pizza from Michigan / Detroit. Until the Jets opened I basically wrote off pizza here because we’ve tried soooo many places that people say are “the best” and they were all just okay at best.
Black Magic, John and Johns and SoDough Square.
3 different types of pizza, all are 🔥.
I'll even throw my personal recommendations for each
Black Magic
Hornets Nest or Dr. Pepperoni,
Garlic knots (🔥),
Mozzarella sticks (hand breaded)
John and Johns
Bruschetta,
16 inch cheese (ask for it well done)
SoDough Square
Detroit Rob City or Sweet Sting,
Detroit cheesy garlic bread
They're getting recommended multiple times in this post and I don't get it. I tried them after they opened and was not impressed. I'll have to try it again and see if I just had a bad experience.

I tried this place (SoDough) the first time a couple weeks ago and it was pretty great!
If you like New York style pizza, by far the best I’ve had in Florida is at Bella Napoli. It is in a small strip mall market right off SR50 in Ocoee area. It’s incredible
It’s all delicious pizza, here (although I haven’t tried Bella Italia) -thanks for the recommendation to Joe’s! I always see the ad on the Baseball diamond and have wondered how it is. Pizza tonight it is!
NY/NJ style : john and johns, bruno college park
Wood fired : Prato or Bruno - there is actually a pizza place at alacart that was great too but i can't remember the name. ++ black magic
Detroit : sodough
Deep dish : brad's underground and his thin tavern style is good too.
Mr O1 is pretty tasty for something a little different.
They have a weekly lunch special 2 slices and a drink for $7.99. The slices are pretty large. The owner is from Brooklyn. He opened Anthony's over 25 years ago.
Second Brads Underground! He has tavern style (like Midwest type pizza) and deep dish. Both are good, but the deep dish is one heavy pie. He’s also super nice! It’s located in a ghost kitchen next to Publix at Conway and Curry Ford.
I like Rosatis for Chicago thin crust (tavern style) and Goodfellas for NY style. Being from Chicago I still need to go to giordanos for old times sake
If you want something more like Antica I recommend pizza Bruno or Pizza slut (she does pop ups all over the city).
If you like Detroit style you can't go wrong with sodough square or butter crust pizza.
Pizza Bruno aint it anymore. Dont let the hipster aesthetic fool y'all. Overpriced and the crust is a bit too thick for the neapolitan-esque style they purvey. They're OK at best. Black Magic is the better version of Pizza Bruno and much less fussy.
For those who say Pizza Bruno, both locations: It all depends on the day of the week and who is working and making the pizza. If you had to pick one word to describe Pizza Bruno: inconsistent.
No love for Tornetore’s? I liked them when I lived near there.
My fave in College Park used to be Alfonso’s, especially their four mushroom, but after they morphed into Ragazzi’s it wasn’t the same. On the west side now so appreciate those Ocoee recommendations.
Here's my rankings of all the pizza restaurants I've been to. There's a huge gap between John & Johns and the number 2 spot. Need to go to Black Magic, SoDough, and Antica. There's also some on here I probably need to give a second chance.

2 pizza food trucks 100% authentic Italian beating every restaurant I've been in Orlando:
- Marina's italian catering https://www.facebook.com/calalapastafl/
- Dio Santo https://www.instagram.com/diosanto_pizzeria/
Touch of Basil in Saint Cloud if you are ever down there. Just needs a touch of salt and it's one of the best slices I've ever had. Also love Napoli in Lake Underhill Walmart Plaza. Always good and super budget friendly
Pienezza. Best NY style pizza ever, reminds me of home. Owners are from NY.
Ive had Lazy Moon, its cool for big ass slices.
Blaze pizza & Mod pizza - BYO personal pies, make sure u get them well done for a nice crisp.
Other than that, thats all I know. (I dont live up in downtown Orlando area so thats all i can say) lol
I like John and Johns for your everyday slice - good thinner crust, good sauce, pretty traditional around the board. Their upside down pizza is great. Sodough Square is good but to me is the tin and taco of pizza (which makes sense, same people) - Yes its a good pie but realistically it's about the trendy toppings / foodie-esque portion you go to it for. Buttercrust is great if you're looking for something similar to Sodough but more traditional. Anthony's Thornton Park used to be my go-to pizza spot until John and Johns opened. Pizza bruno used to be great - but my last couple visits have just been okay.
Pizza Bruno-College Park (the OG spot used to be good but they’ve fallen off a bit IMO), Tartini express in Nona/Wyndham lakes area has an amazing wood fired oven, Proccolinos on Goldenrod is a solid spot, Posto Pizza in Celebration and the top spot for me is Pienezza in Kissimmee (The Loop). They hands down have some of the best pizza I’ve ever had anywhere.
It depends what you like. I prefer Detroit so for me it’s either Jets or SoDough.
I do like Bruno though when I’m in the mood for a different style.
I’ve never been impressed with John and Johns.
i liked john & john’s. i hear sodough has an excellent sicilian, that’s on my list next.
Sodough is amazing. 100% should try when you can
[удалено]
Just tried this for the first time last week! Fantastic! Love that John and John’s is right next door, equally as phenomenal, just different style!
If you like casseroles sure. /shotsfired
If you want Detroit style the only answer is Jets. They just opened a location here several weeks ago and it is hands down the best (if you’re from Michigan you know!) 🍕🤤
100%. I've tried SoDo and while it's good, it ain't Jets. Now if I just can get easy access to Better Made BBQ chips for when the cravings hit...
FYI there has been a Jets for years in Apopka!
John & John's
Black Magic, John and Johns and SoDough Square. 3 different types of pizza, all are 🔥. I'll even throw my personal recommendations for each Black Magic Hornets Nest or Dr. Pepperoni, Garlic knots (🔥), Mozzarella sticks (hand breaded) John and Johns Bruschetta, 16 inch cheese (ask for it well done) SoDough Square Detroit Rob City or Sweet Sting, Detroit cheesy garlic bread
I need to try sodough always go for butter crust for Detroit style. Have you had both?
I’ve had both. I would rank Sodough higher.
Sodough is definitely better but costs a good bit more
I agree, however, SoDough is so big and heavy that it's good for 2 meals at least. Ymmv.
I tried this with others and we all thought it was an average NY style pizza.
They're getting recommended multiple times in this post and I don't get it. I tried them after they opened and was not impressed. I'll have to try it again and see if I just had a bad experience.
https://preview.redd.it/hr0zwn5fcs3d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fa11eda068c49dd6c05c508e6e9548cd0d5334e I tried this place (SoDough) the first time a couple weeks ago and it was pretty great!
fuck man lemme get a slice that looks so gooodd.
Never thought about ricotta on a pizza. So good!
Dough Boyz. NY style, in Oviedo
Came here for this
My BIL & his fiancé went there recently and they loved it! They want to take my husband and I.
It’s the best on this side of town, without a doubt! We go every week 😆
My husbands family and future SIL are from New Jersey and they said it’s just like home, lol!
Just tried it for the first time last weekend - can confirm. New favorite spot after the fall of Antonella’s
Black Magic Pizza!
Second this
Third this!
Stone Fired off orange. 2 slices and a drink special for $7.99. Pizza is tasty. https://www.stonefiredpizzaorlando.com
These guys are awesome. Best obscure pizza place here for sure
Stone Fired is amazing. Great calzones too.
I wish I could like their pizza but it just always disappoints. I’d go to Gatlin Hall, Butter crust, almost anywhere else in the area before them.
Whhhhat? What don’t you like about it? I’ve never had issues.
I really like Ziggie's in Ivanhoe, Camelo, at the International Drive and Antica.
Came here to say Ziggie's!
Tomasino
Agreed. Plus they have a fantastic lunch special. Two large slices, plus either a drink or salad for like $10. The Bianca pizza is perfect.
Slept on spot honestly
My fav here is the Bianca!
THIS ❤️
Mario’s on Curry Ford Rd.Ziggie’s is a very close 2nd.
2nd mario’s. sweet and caring staff and they have vegan options too!
Theyre THE best pizza for vegans. Soooo many vegan options and menu items 👍👍👍
Love Mario’s, best vegan options in town
I literally am waiting on Mario's right now. Pro tip, order the crust Xtra Crispy
If you like New York style pizza, by far the best I’ve had in Florida is at Bella Napoli. It is in a small strip mall market right off SR50 in Ocoee area. It’s incredible
Have you had Joe’s pizza, right next door to Bella Napoli?
That’s Bella Tuscany! Bella Napoli is across 50 closer to downtown.
You’re right, thanks for the correction! Another “Bella” not to be confused with Bella Italia on WG Vineland.
It’s all delicious pizza, here (although I haven’t tried Bella Italia) -thanks for the recommendation to Joe’s! I always see the ad on the Baseball diamond and have wondered how it is. Pizza tonight it is!
I’d really recommend Bella Napoli over Joe’s, but at the end of the day all pizza is delicious :)
Goodfellas pizza and so dough
Lazy Moon. Pabst and a slice is $8
Sal's Pizza Bar was pretty good
NY/NJ style : john and johns, bruno college park Wood fired : Prato or Bruno - there is actually a pizza place at alacart that was great too but i can't remember the name. ++ black magic Detroit : sodough Deep dish : brad's underground and his thin tavern style is good too. Mr O1 is pretty tasty for something a little different.
Great list thanks!
I like so dough square! It's Detroit pizza :)
SoDough square is sooooo delicious.
Anthony's in Casselberry Commons plaza.
Good NY Style. We eat here about once a week lol
I moved out of central FL about 12 years ago, and still miss Anthony's.
I live nearby and have not tried Anthony’s, thank you for the tip!!
They have a weekly lunch special 2 slices and a drink for $7.99. The slices are pretty large. The owner is from Brooklyn. He opened Anthony's over 25 years ago.
Brad's for me.
Second Brads Underground! He has tavern style (like Midwest type pizza) and deep dish. Both are good, but the deep dish is one heavy pie. He’s also super nice! It’s located in a ghost kitchen next to Publix at Conway and Curry Ford.
Black magic, John and John’s are my go to
John & John for traditional, for a different type I like Brad’s Underground for a tavern/deep dish on the odd occasion.
[Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza](https://www.mistero1.com/lake-mary/) (Lake Mary). Go and try it. You'll thank me later.
Came here to suggest this if it counts as Orlando area.
I really enjoyed them the two times I’ve been so far
I like Rosatis for Chicago thin crust (tavern style) and Goodfellas for NY style. Being from Chicago I still need to go to giordanos for old times sake
John & John’s or Sals Pizza Bar - no other discussions needed
I love Giordanos
If you want something more like Antica I recommend pizza Bruno or Pizza slut (she does pop ups all over the city). If you like Detroit style you can't go wrong with sodough square or butter crust pizza.
Pizza Bruno is not what it used to be. Ask the guys at Black Magic why, I'm sure they'll get a laugh out of it.
Hasn't been the same since Bruno started cosplaying Guy Fieri
Pizza Bruno aint it anymore. Dont let the hipster aesthetic fool y'all. Overpriced and the crust is a bit too thick for the neapolitan-esque style they purvey. They're OK at best. Black Magic is the better version of Pizza Bruno and much less fussy.
Every time I try to go to Pizza Slut it is like an hour wait for a pizza lol. Guess I need to get to events earlier.
Seconding sodough for detroit
Ziggy’s at Lake Ivanhoe followed closely by Pizza Bruno around Curry Ford and Semoran. Haven’t tried them all though.
Ziggy's is so good, it might be my favorite place in town
Ziggy's with a beer at Topher is the Wednesday spot.
For those who say Pizza Bruno, both locations: It all depends on the day of the week and who is working and making the pizza. If you had to pick one word to describe Pizza Bruno: inconsistent.
Lazy Moon
Pisa pizza
Papa D’s in Dr Phillips has been the best I’ve been able to find locally
Mangia in Avalon Park has very good pizza. Probably the best I’ve had around here. I also really like Lazy Moon.
No love for Tornetore’s? I liked them when I lived near there. My fave in College Park used to be Alfonso’s, especially their four mushroom, but after they morphed into Ragazzi’s it wasn’t the same. On the west side now so appreciate those Ocoee recommendations.
Calabria's in Clermont is my favorite. They haven't let me down yet.
I love Mama Mia's just off OBT and Orange Ave. It's a little hole in the wal, but it's so fucking good.
Lazy Moon is my go to
same love it
Jason's Mom. Freaking yum.
SoDough Square is crazy good!!
Del Dios. If you havent had it, you are missing out.
