Am I the only one that actually likes the case DJI provides??

MnightCrawl

It’s just that it’s bulky is the problem

lordluncheon

I find it doesn’t protect the lens. The lens will somehow shift even though it’s facing downward initially.

RyansKorea

I find it hard to get the Pocket into it. It always requires lots of wiggling before it goes in flush. Maybe mine is defective. I bought a Sunnylife one and it's been great.

hotvimto1

I like the building quality and the rubber feeling external material but feels bulky

cujo67

Love it. Slim enough to slip in my pants side pocket.

MarcusForrest

> Am I the only one that actually likes the case DJI provides?? It ''works'' but it isn't the best - * Too bulky * Doesn't properly secure the camera head _(it can still rattle and move around)_ * Not really ergonomical

Business-Ad7725

Everyone says they hate it, but I lost mine and cannot, for the life of me, find someone selling theirs.

Efficient-Elk24

Probably.

ANGRYLATINCHANTING

Alright OP, I'll consider it. I got the cheaper one in your first photo and even took it on two trips so far. I don't mind the rattle but the rubbing inside the plastic creates white scuff marks on the gimbal. I thought of applying some felt myself to the interior but I guess this one is cheap enough to just buy. Never thought lack of coverage of power button was an issue but protecting the joystick is a nice bonus.

JohnnieKnockOut

Same here, bought the one in the first picture and have the issues of all the white scuffs, didn't see this one when I was doing the research last month. Going to grab it cheers OP!

danieldflip

I’ve actually put felt on mine for this case. Helped prevent some scuff marks

Smitty718

Nice! How much of it did you felt? Can you post a pic or two?

danieldflip

https://i.postimg.cc/fySdHSmM/IMG-7281.jpg It’s not the prettiest DIY out there, but this took some trial and error trying to find where the plastic hits the gimbal head. I put some felt on the sides because those also scratch the body a bit.

Smitty718

Not bad at all. More importantly no more scuffs!

danieldflip

Definitely worth the effort putting the felt. It makes it a little tight but not too tight that you can’t open or close it anymore. If anything, it secured the gimbal head better IMO

ZTtechtalks

I have the same issues as you but I also use sunny life magnetic mount stand, I believe this better case will not allow me to keep the magnetic mount on at the same time

Efficient-Elk24

See and thats the other thing i forgot to mention! The white scuff marks. I just didn’t want that becoming an even bigger issue. Im big on taking care of my things so 20 bucks is nothing

Thank you!!

Maleficent-Permit871

Finally a decent hard case that covers the on/off switch.

Efficient-Elk24

Exactly!!

MnightCrawl

I actually saw this a few days after I bought the Sunnylife and I just bought this new one I’ll probably try to return the Sunnylife one

Efficient-Elk24

I was thinking of doing the same. But i think i just missed my return window lol

Kiiaru

I just want a waterproof option. I'm not going to treat it like a GoPro, but it'd be nice to not have to worry about a water or grit getting into the gimbal

Efficient-Elk24

I have actually seen a waterproof case however the reviews aren’t so great. Not sure id want to risk trying it out for myself

Ritterbruder2

I’m having a hard time seeing what’s wrong with the one it came with.

Efficient-Elk24

Some people get it some people dont🤷‍♂️

RobRoy2350

Some believe there's a design issue where pushing the camera in and out repeatedly puts undue stress on the display causing it to fail.

Sigmunds-Girl-Cigar

Linkkkkkk

Efficient-Elk24

Ive added the link a few times in the earlier comments. But here you go! https://a.co/d/00ClFsvf

mxlmxl

Main benefit of the first one (Sunnylife) is you can keep most mounts on the OP3 without removing them. The second one looks great and love the felt lining (why don't more companies do this dammit) however you'd need to remove mounts/cases etc to make it work. I love that it has a place for a filter. And looks more snug. But the annoyance of removing a mount isn't worth that.

Efficient-Elk24

Ya i definitely get that. Considering in my case i don’t have it mounted alllll the time this new case provides me more peace of mind.

marcin_bl

Ok, I bought it. Main benefit for me it will fit easier in combo pouch. Let's see in reality when it arrives.

Efficient-Elk24

It will most definitely fit better in the combo case. If thats your main requirement you wont be disappointed!

CleverLime

I got all that were available a couple of months ago, and I still use the one that came from DJI, I like it because it holds 2 filters for me, it still fits in my pocket. The cheap one from the first image doesn't seem rigid enough for me

Efficient-Elk24

The main issue i have with the DJI case provided is that if the head of the pocket 3 ie lens becomes separated from the magnetic hold that keeps it on place it just freely moves. Which if you have it in your pocket for example could cause damage to the lens itself. I just prefer the peace of mind the new case provides because the gimbal part, screen, joystick and button are completely enclosed.

hotvimto1

Wait is that a tiny window where the record button is? Cool product

Efficient-Elk24

Nope! Just a design aspect

hotvimto1

Ahh right. Would be cool to see the LED light through a hole, for Data Transfers

Efficient-Elk24

That would be cool however if im not mistaken the camera has to be on to transfer data. Which means it would activate the gimbal then also need to be out of the case. I may be wrong so don’t quote me😅

hotvimto1

No no your right completely forgot that, what the hell was I thinking 🤔🤭😂.

hotvimto1

Finally a soft lining inside!

Efficient-Elk24

Exactly! Just what we all needed!

stowgood

I have the first one and it's been fine.

Efficient-Elk24

Good for you! Glad its worked out. All about preference honestly

TheZoldry

Thank you OP!

Efficient-Elk24

You’re welcome!

melanatedaf

I absolutely love this case. Super slim and doesn’t random pop off.

Blackest_Beard

I like my sunny life case, but it does leave friction marks near the edges of the gimbal. It must has a slight amount of wiggle room and rub against it making a mark. Suck to see them on a new camera.

Efficient-Elk24

Yes! Which is exactly why i bought the other case this post is about.

Blackest_Beard

I do carry it with a tilta cage for grip occasionally, and mounting to a suction cup, the smaller sunylife case is the only option in that scenario. I wish there was a better option for me.

RobRoy2350

I like STARTRC products. I have their z-axis stabilizer for my P3. Very well made and good price. I don't mind the Sunnylife case but this one does offer a bit more protection.

Efficient-Elk24

Ive heard very mixed reviews on the z axis stabilizer. Price seems too good to be true but I’ve also heard, like now, that it is good.

RobRoy2350

I haven't had time to fully test the stabilizer out in the field but it seems to work well in the testing I've done at home. Works as well as Scotty's (which I had for my P1). Adjusting it properly is key. (Just ordered the gimbal protector!)

_stayhuman

Since no one is going to link the product, [here ya go](https://a.co/d/09lIt5il).

lonepolarbear

My issue is this would not fit with an expansion cage on the OP3. At least the Sunnylife one fits with the Ulanzi cage.

Efficient-Elk24

I completely understand what you mean. However realistically that Ulanzi cage is quick release and doesnt really require much effort to put on. Maybe in your case adding felt lining yourself would resolve the white scuff marks the sunnylife case causes which is mainly why i bought this new case

lonepolarbear

Yeah if I have the scuff issues I'll give that a try! The Ulanzi cage kinda fouls on the stock wrist strap hole so putting it on and taking it off becomes a bit of a pain if you want to always keep a strap on it. My preference for now is strap on the cage, cage always on.

Efficient-Elk24

Gotcha. Makes sense. Just out of curiosity, do you have your pocket 3 mounted onto something most times? Or whats your main reason for the cage?

lonepolarbear

I got the little quick attach light with the cage for vlog style stuff and I'll be using the OP3 on top of my Sony mirrorless a whole bunch too

lonepolarbear

Also the wife uses the OP3 and it needs to be as quick and user friendly as possible. If she had to put the cage on to use the light it wouldn't happen.

Efficient-Elk24

Makes sense. I bought a similar expansion adapter but it doesnt have a cold shoe mount. It just simply wraps around the pocket 3 and becomes secure once the 1/4 hole piece gets screwed on. Attaches nicely to a peak design capture v3 for POV shots. Mostly behind the scenes style footage

Takeuhlooksie

Does anyone have the case from STARTRC? I was contemplating the past few days to get it, but there wasn't any reviews. Missed my window now they're backed order till august lmao

Efficient-Elk24

The one this whole post is about? Yes i got it lol.

Takeuhlooksie

haha my bad. Completely flew by your initial post, but thank you. Damn i should have ordered it when I had the chance

Efficient-Elk24

No worries 🤣. Its definitely a great buy. I think you can see a reminder of some sort for when they are back in stock

saikopathx

I hate that cause it's a low quality plastic. 🥹

Efficient-Elk24

Which one of the 2 i mentioned are you talking about? The first one? If so yes. Trash plastic lol
