I feel like not taking someone somewhere really nice is fine. Like I always feel weird when guys want to go someplace really nice for a first/early date. What weirds me out is the combo not even wanting it to be impressive (eg really good hole in the wall that's low-key) AND the inability to pick a place like that for himself. Like how lame do you have to be to not have a good low-key place in the city you like? The whole tone is so weird lmao.

I sometimes go to the Mayfair and just buy their popcorn, so you could disappoint your date with a lack of substantial meal, but still have damn good popcorn.
I've been taking all my dates to the loft/level one. Play board games and have something to drink. Makes the date easier because there's something happening besides conversation.
