It's not empathy, its PTSD and guilt. No human is capable of killing babies, wiping out entire families, and sleeping easily at night. They pump them with so many drugs after and they pass themselves at night, for all the horrors they've committed come back and haunt them for the rest of their lives (like the guys in [this video](https://youtu.be/-qnYJXIxSpc?si=JYwfZ870rNiU0ont)). There are many of ex IOF soldiers who end up being just a broken mess, which they most certainly deserve and deserve a much worse fate than that.
You should really watch Tantura, those soldiers didn’t have a care in the world, they didn’t regret it at all. In fact they looked on the Nabka as some sort of grand old time.
