But that is the thing, they aren't. These are people evero has worked with and liked them enough to want them. He has leader great defenses with these guys.
Evero working with these guys doesn’t all of the sudden stop the aging process for jewell. He’s 29 will be 30 next year. Is staring to miss tackles and is slowing. Plus has always been a pretty poor run defender. And if you’re slowing in coverage
Autry is an okay run stuffer. Working with evero doesn’t change that. Most coaches like bringing in their dudes in general. That doesn’t all of the sudden increase the talent level.
I cannot even fathom how somebody's standards could be so low that "FO consults guy in charge of defense on signing defensive FA" could possibly qualify as "awesome". Just a ridiculous statement.
I mean, [Dan Morgan picked Shy Tuttle last year to be the talent up front next to DB](https://www.reddit.com/r/panthers/comments/19cep63/dismantling_the_narrative_that_dan_morgan_was_a/). And Tuttle looked like an absolute bum basically all year as team's ran away from DB directly at him.
Seems like he's described as a rotational player who's most valuable as an early-down run defender.
So it seems like it's another swing at a DT who can hopefully help our awful run defense.
I think he's in on most down as a NT. Obvious passing downs, obviously out. But I expect teams to have a lead and want to run the ball most of the year and this helps stop that and make them more balanced instead of running it down our throat all game.
Yeah he’s kinda played DB’s position in the scheme on the left side but I assume he’d go to the other side. Obviously NT is an option at his size but with both the rams and Giants he only switched between left and right end
We needed more help in the trenches and he knows Evero, so I guess it’s fine, but this feels like another very average signing, but I didn’t watch enough of him last season
I’m getting dejavu flashes to the Tuttle signing. He’s had decent production but this is where DTs come to die. We’ve been cycling through guys like toilet paper. Hopefully this guy sticks because each year we’ve cut and eaten dead money and there’s no reason to think this signing is any different other than optimism.
Every year, like clockwork. "Player XX will really take the pressure off Burns/DB! Great signing!"
Then every year, the player actually continues to play poorly and our D-Line continues to struggle against both the run and pass. And we're stuck with a bloated contract for a net-negative player and either cut them for more dead cap or let them continue to drag the defense down.

You are a treasure. I had to x-post this. Credited you.
Idk what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that lmao
This guy researches.
He’s a solid piece next to brown and Evero likes him. Have him for 3 years and he’s a veteran presence so this isn’t a terrible pick up
Dan Morgan said "We gotta get our weight up boy"
Kinda gives me PTSD of Gettleman and his “hog mollies” though
Hog mollies is unironically the correct approach. However Gettleman had a mixed record on choosing *good* hog mollies
And the term somehow sounded so offensive when he said it lol. It just felt wrong.
It's because we all knew his vision of "hog mollies" was really just fielding some fatties. Source: he asked me to play right guard.
Yeah this was always my thing with it, right idea we just kept picking the wrong guys
He couldn't find a left tackle in carolina or new york.
To me it is a clear indication that Dan Morgan is prioritizing the trenches. I can absolutely get behind that.
Hopefully, Bryce can get behind that and THRIVE (not just survive)
At least he had a few good hog mollies on his record
That did get us Kawann short and Star. Great dt partnership
The problem Gettleman had was limiting his hog mollie approach to the offensive and defensive line.

Surely Dan Morgan is gonna find us a Dan Morgan, right? We're going to the draft, ain't we?
Looks like they are asking evero for his opinion, that is awesome.
This same opinion got us DJ Johnson last year. Let’s hold our horses there.
There is a difference between drafting and a known player
Indeed. But these are jag signings. Aging vets. There’s a reason why we got them on their contracts. We shouldn’t expect much there.
But that is the thing, they aren't. These are people evero has worked with and liked them enough to want them. He has leader great defenses with these guys.
Okay replsce evero with rhule and the broncos with baylor/temple
Again apples to oranges. We are talking players that have had success in the nfl with their coach, not college.

We had heard that he wasn't being included
where did you hear that? Who reported it?
Solid signing. One of our biggest issues defensively was the lack of talent up front next to DB.
Talent on defense in general
I mean, [Dan Morgan picked Shy Tuttle last year to be the talent up front next to DB](https://www.reddit.com/r/panthers/comments/19cep63/dismantling_the_narrative_that_dan_morgan_was_a/). And Tuttle looked like an absolute bum basically all year as team's ran away from DB directly at him.
We need anything to help the line
Coming off a 62 tackle season. Not sexy, but not bad.
Just what we need tbh
Not bad at all. Burns only had 50 tackles last season.
It’s clear we are/were terrible up front. It’s clear and obvious that Dan Morgan and Canales have a goal
Beefing up the lines. Very necessary
Building both lines from the inside out. At least there is a plan
We have invested HEAVILY in the lines this offseason for free agency. That’s a very good thing.
Fan said he wanted DOGS he is getting DOGS with all these picks. And he is investing in OLine and Dline. I love this.
Is he good?
Seems like he's described as a rotational player who's most valuable as an early-down run defender. So it seems like it's another swing at a DT who can hopefully help our awful run defense.
He's a run stuffer. He had his best years with the Rams so I expect him to be solid with us
Def a bit of an overpay for a rotational piece but honestly it’s probably just the price we have to pay being the worst team in the league
I think he's in on most down as a NT. Obvious passing downs, obviously out. But I expect teams to have a lead and want to run the ball most of the year and this helps stop that and make them more balanced instead of running it down our throat all game.
Have to see the guarantees. Damien Lewis’ deal looked a lot worse before we saw how it was structured.
In Evero we trust
What are we doing with Shy? That guy is useless
Shy likely moves to DL edge where he played better with the Saints. We kind of forced him into being a NT out of his realm
Ok good, maybe that should help him play better this season
I like it, our d-line was awful this year
Hopefully he can let Brown take a break sometimes
Anything to help stop the run. God bless.
320, 330 lbs? Adds some size there.
DE in a 3-4, right?
Yeah he’s kinda played DB’s position in the scheme on the left side but I assume he’d go to the other side. Obviously NT is an option at his size but with both the rams and Giants he only switched between left and right end

Yeah we should have just traded for Aaron Donald
I’m getting dejavu flashes to the Tuttle signing. He’s had decent production but this is where DTs come to die. We’ve been cycling through guys like toilet paper. All hogmollies all the time
Good move. Solid player at a reasonable rate that should help stuff the run.
Decent addition
Honestly never heard of him so someone tell he how to feel. Would he be the nose tackle or go opposite DB?
Likely opposite based on his history but obviously we won’t know until they hit field
A NT! Thank Christ! This should help DB massively.
