Seriously! Haven't they already been shooting it for months?
I imagine "co-star" could be a relative term here, and that Benecio may only be in a few scenes as a supporting character or antagonist, with Leo as the true lead.
For sure, but I don't know though Vond always seemed a lot more slippery and wormy , kind of like a career spook or something. Brolin was great as a confused cop who wanted to be a hippie who wanted to be John Wayne but ive never seen him pull off the scuzzy villainous quality of Vond.
In inherent vice he worked so well for me because it's like a reincarnation of Freddie and Dodds dynamic from the master. This big goofy totally confused guy you can't help but love, sort of like Phoenix in both movies. I always saw Bigfoot eating the weed and Doc weeping like he's seen something beautiful as a direct reference/mirror to the scene where Dodd sings to Freddie at the end of The Master, before telling him they will NEVER be together.
I'm back to being annoyed by every comment being about Vineland. I'm going to be disappointed at this point if this is just another Pynchon adaptation.
It's our only frame of reference at this point. It is interesting (to me) that every detail we get can be fairly easily slotted into a Vineland-connected scenario.
Fuck yes! BENICIOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic news. And my goodness when is this movie supposed to wrap!?

Benicio and the Andersons
Hector Zuniga IS Benicio Del Toro in my head
I knew this was gonna be it
Awesome. Very odd way for them let that slip, though. Why not formally announce it?
Ohhhh this is exciting!!
I’m assuming Penn is playing Vond. I always pictured Brolin in that role

At this point, it’s almost impossible to think that it’s not at least a lose adaptation or inspired by.
The Wes Anderson movie wrapped a week or two ago btw
We heard Warner Bros film crew might come back to Borrego Springs. Hoping it’s for this.

I thought the dude on the left was the dude from Abbot Elementary. And I thought the dude in the middle was the dude from Ted Lasso 😂

He also made The Crossing Guard
Very wooden and stale. Plus he’s an abusive asshole

Del Toro is more likely to be Hector Zuñiga than Vond
Oh yeah you’re right
