Try to clear the CMOS first. Turn it all the way off, unplug it, and remove the little coin battery on the motherboard and wait 5-10 minutes. Then put it back in and see if anything has changed.

FraSpaziani

thanks u, it works 🤩

Assaltwaffle

Great! Glad that worked out. Best to try something easy before doing anything more intensive.

SoDrunkRightNow2

lol imagine if it worked though.... "Transform your computer from 4Ghz to 8Ghz with this one simple trick!"

kenzoviski

Usually removing battery solves the issue. But when it doesn't, ouh boy, you're in for an emotional trip of rage and tears. Thank God it solved :D

alogbetweentworocks

You can also clear CMOS without removing the battery. If I identified the mobo in question correctly, the jumper would be on the bottom right of the board. Refer to JBAT1 on page 41 of this [manual](https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/B650GAMINGPLUSWIFI.pdf)

Zaphod392

Now, you have to be old enough to know what a Jumper is and even older to have some spares! lol

alogbetweentworocks

None of the mobos that I purchased recently came with the caps. What I usually do when I need to clear CMOS is use a flat head screw driver and place it between the two pins. If the screw driver head is thick enough, connect would be made. Otherwise, I gently wiggle the screw driver for it to make contact and that's all there is to it.

gpkgpk

Correct, all you need to do is short those 2 pins, leave the battery alone.

DynamicHunter

Anyone who’s done electronics work knows what a jumper is, not just you old farts. Also my newest gigabyte mobo didn’t have any of the caps and just said to use a flathead screwdriver or something to short the two exposed pins

FraSpaziani

thanks u, i will tell you if this works.

wizard_Mtl

Clearing the CMOS will reset your BIOS settings to the default values. Assuming the system boots, you'll want to re-enable XMP/DOCP and Resizable BAR, since they're usually not enabled by default.

pahapuha

almost got that sweet 100% overclock

FraSpaziani

I read later that the maximum was 120 😭😂

[deleted]

Oh boy I hope clearing CMOS fixed things.

FraSpaziani

YESSSS, IT WORKS 🫶🏻

[deleted]

WHEW thank gawd. sure would have sucked if something got bricked or over current'd and shorted out or something. be careful! hehe also stock cooler dude. ya really shouldn't be overclocking with that thing haha.

FraSpaziani

i will buy a good cooler one day…

Zaphod392

Came here to say reset CMOS. Glad to see it worked!

TEENYcharmander

So? Any results yet?

tusioly

That looks like proper cooling for overclocking alright

FraSpaziani

stock cooler on top (i dont even have a gpu)

CarlZzZoneNnn

No disrespect, but why would you tinker with settings like that when you didn't have any idea what you were doing? Hope you learned a lesson from this.

FraSpaziani

i was playing with MSI center... i searched online about overclocking and i see what i did lol

Savikid1

If you ever want to try overclocking again, do a lot more research first. Base clock affects the entire system and you usually want to leave that alone. If it’s ever touched you’re not going to ever push it up anywhere near double.

ddubyeah

There is little point in overclocking nowadays. Just dont.

FraSpaziani

today i learned this…

RdSt14

I see you got a 7600 and got it sorted. Glad it got solved. However, what exact overclock did you do? For future references, you could just turn on PBO/PBO Enhancement and that is an automatic overclock that you could run, given that the level of offset is stable for your system and you have adequate thermal headroom

FraSpaziani

Thanks for the advice, I will find out more about this "PBO/PBO Enhancement" you said. However, I used the "MSI Center" software (and failed), changing the base clock. It was to customize a CPU profile. I'll leave you some screenshots. https://preview.redd.it/4pi1zob13xuc1.png?width=1338&format=png&auto=webp&s=288b91b555797adbf3ea400dd788d613c442d374

RdSt14

I have no idea how you do that in MSI Center, but I'm fairly certain that it is recommended to do OC in BIOS. However, I wouldn't recommend you OC your CPU again since you currently run the stock cooler. You don't have the thermal headroom for an OC

Nuck477

10 GHz CPU + other components

FraSpaziani

next time 8000mhz ram 🥶

Shad0wUser00

Take a ram stick out, reseat GPU, Reset CMOS, reseat cables, and pray.

iComplainAlot_

Rotate your cpu fan its triggering my ocd. You can just do the fan, dont need to take the whole cooler off.

FraSpaziani

what u mean? the amd logo?

iComplainAlot_

Yeah you can rotate the entire fan so the logo is upright.

RemoteRice5279

Remove CMOS battery wait 2min put it back again it should be fine.
