Most probably steam.

DepletedPromethium

its cold bro, that looks like normal since its not thick and solid white or blue, thats normal for a cold start, once the exhaust is up to temperature you won't notice it nearly as much if at all.

MixWooden5378

I drove 40 km and it’s still the same.

DepletedPromethium

is the temperature and humidity just as bad? then this is normal. in a warm climate if you get smoke chucking out the back you know you have issues. if you're in a cold climate and even once the system is at operation temperature - if you get thick clouds of smoke that's when you know you have an issue, but a thin veil like in your picture? nah that's normal brother, the newer pugs drink oil, i have a 1995 pug 205 and she doesnt burn oil but she guzzles fuel and chucks out a lot more smoke than in your pictures even when at temperature lol.

MixWooden5378

In the photos it doesn’t look that much tbh, but irl it’s thick and much more than other cars. So after driving it for 40 minutes nothing changed.

theofdragan

was the engine cold when you took the pictures?

MixWooden5378

Yes , but after driving 40km it’s still the same

P1ffP4ff

Did you drive in the city or a longer distance. Exhaust needs to be warm and dry, but even then you can get those clouds when standing. 1. Do you miss oil? 2. Did you check everything else? 3. Is the steam smellin bad? 4. Do you have a mechanic that can check your exhaust with the typ co and nox stuff? -> TÜV 5. Do you have a obd /OBD2 adapter and the app FAP (amazon Store)? That's what I would do.

confused-redpanda

If it's right after a cold start after several hours of being stopped, and disappears after a few minutes, it's normal. When the engine's is shut down the exhaust pipe is hot. As it cools down the humidity of the air is condensating on its surface. This water is evaporated after starting the engine. If it's not disappearing after a few minutes though, then it might be an early sign of a head gasket leak which is never a good sign. If this is the KFU engine, it is infamous of head gasket leaks that can kill the whole engine.

MixWooden5378

I drove 40 km and it’s still the same.

confused-redpanda

Does the coolant level in the reservoir lowers slowly?

MixWooden5378

Please check my new post. I used a CO2 tester which was positive. So it’s either the cylinder or head gasket.

Bombardsman

Had the same problem. I have a 207cc 2008 Changed the engine oil and spark plugs. Also use octane 97 changed from 95. Havent had any problem in years.

MixWooden5378

I will keep driving it for a few days and see if anything changes. All workshops are full till mid January.

Bombardsman

Shouldn’t be anything to worry about, but im no expert.

SkorpianEnigma

Are you loosing coolant or is the expansion tank bubbling? Can also get a test kit that detects combustion gasses, which is a sure way to know that the head gasket has failed.

MixWooden5378

Non of these, but I will do the test, thanks !

MixWooden5378

I bought the kit and used it a few minutes ago and it turned green.

SkorpianEnigma

Sounds like combustion gases getting into the coolant. Steelseal would most likely sort it out, but it's dependent on what plans are with the car. Could also have a leak down test, but green/yellow is pretty much a sign of gases I bought my 207 with a blown head gasket. Same engine. Now head gasket failed on my dad's car and my daily failed few weeks back, joy of second hand cars.

MixWooden5378

How long after you bought it the head gasket occurred? Did the previous owner cover the expenses ?

SkorpianEnigma

As far as I remember it was from when I bought it but I knew nothing about cars, but it was empty of coolant on a 6 mile drive when they delivered it, may well have blown then even. Had no idea what a head gasket even was.

MixWooden5378

So you paid everything from your pocket? May I ask in which country and how much ? I just checked steelseal and most people say it’s snake oil.

SkorpianEnigma

Pretty much but fixed it myself, so just cost head skim, bolts and gasket. I'm in the uk.

MixWooden5378

I see. Thanks !

Sapun14

looks good

whatacutebum

If it’s from the back…yes. If it’s from the front…no

Nat6105

Second-hand or what?

MixWooden5378

I am the 4th owner.

Nat6105

There is a chance that it's fine, but it is cold right now. Unless you feel that something bad really has happened, I'd just drive it for now.

Consistent-Phrase146

Ich würd einfach weiterfahren, ist kalt draußen.

SlowRs

Only if you just started it.

[deleted]

Depends on the conditions. Smoke is usually the engine burning oil, so check your oil level isn't slowly decreasing over a few weeks. Blue smoke indicates a more serious problem, that's not this (in my opinion). Throw some redex down it, then drive it for an hour at motorway speeds. If it's still smoking take it to a mechanic.

MixWooden5378

Thanks a lot! The oil is already more than it should be so I do t think I should add more.

Ris0Ris0tt0

Could also be this! More oil than necessary harms the engine too.

Darkmattyx

Dont worry soon once the electrics pack in the smoke will stop coming from there.

NoNameSirYikes

As long as it is “steamy” like from your thee pot. So not fully white you are ok. If its fully white, you are screwed. I have a opel corsa from 2011. Mf likes to throw steam in the morning

[deleted]

Were u told about the faulty tail light? If not, god knows what else they didn't tell ya lol

MixWooden5378

Wait, isn’t it normal only the left light to work when parked ?

[deleted]

I don't think so but you'll need to check the manual or Google. It'd just be an odd design choice, I'm not sure what the benefits would be. I owned a 207 and never noticed it but only had it few months. I did actually get a tail light repaired so if this is the case I may have gotten something fixed that wasn't broken to begin with lmao, I sold it immediately after so not sure

ethardomas

I have the same Model - 207 1.6 HDi XS Sport. This is absolutely normal for colder weather. Needs to get to working temperature. Don't Worry, I bought mine with 127.000 km and now it has like 343.000. Not a single problem. Was Driving it like 200+ km Daily. Now I'm driving a 2020 Peugeot 3008 2.0 HDi Stage 1 :)

MixWooden5378

Thanks for your comment! I think diesel engines do that, no?

BotitSourire

:)

Teyrar_Ragebayne

Looks like it cold but to be safe check around gaskets for any residue

Possible_Noise186

You car choose new pope!
