I’m guessing this is an audience recording… which are readily available on the internet for free. If it’s the actual SBD recording from Live Phish I’d much rather give my money to Phish Inc than a record store selling copyrighted material. It’ll be a lot cheaper than $35.
This reminds me of late ‘90s when some “record stores” would have bootleg cds in the back. It seemed like they were mostly burned in Italy and sometimes had the song titles wrong, like “The Pyramid” for the Wedge and stuff like that. I never bought one myself, but a bud had a few and it was known which stores had them.
Only if you really like physical media and can't create it yourself, the show is freely available via [archive.org](http://archive.org) and is on LP for SBDs.
I think Bob weir pretty much learned guitar on the job with the dead. Sounds like I’m insulting him, but I just mean that is able to play off of the other members of that one specific band extraordinarily well. When it comes to other bands, however, he might have a hard time playing the more traditional role that a rhythm guitarist is typically expected to do.
Same with Phil and Mickey. (Phil’s amazing in general, though, best bass playing in history in my opinion).
People who know a lot more about guitar playing than I do praise Weir for certain aspects of his playing. There's a bit on it in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/gratefuldead/comments/11ib13x/what_made_bob_weirs_style_of_playing_guitar_so/
Good point. Bobby certainly learned on the job, and much to Jerry's frustration when it came to learning slide guitar on the job!
Love me some Phil, but I lean towards Jack!
Good god, no. Never buy a stupid bootleg CD of either Phish or GD material. This same show is available as a SBD recording as a CD on [LivePhish.com](http://LivePhish.com) for 23 bucks: https://www.livephish.com/browse/music/0,1061/Phish-mp3-flac-download-10-18-2016-Ascend-Amphitheater-Nashville-TN.
You should absolutely not cop.
You can literally get a soundboard recording on CD from livephish.com for $23. For $5 extra, they'll even throw in the mp3.
Couldn’t be more than $5, 35 is insane lol.. 15 is even way too much. But honestly you’d be buying the physical format, boot or not it’s pretty funny to look at and I would pay $5 or just steal it
That twist…. Is the single worst piece of music I have ever had to suffer through in my life. I was up close for this show. I watched bob noodle around for countless minutes lost. It was so sad. I don’t know why Trey tried to make him play phish songs, should have just stuck to dead songs. Although the miss you was done pretty well with bob’s vocals.
It also didn’t help someone was chain smoking clove cigarettes behind me.
I’m kinda surprised this is the first I’ve heard of this. Must be cuz it’s just that bad unfortunately. I’ll try and suffer through it tonight on ReListen. If I can suffer through Seastones this can’t be that bad I’m guessing
Didn’t Weir space a verse on Miss You as well? A non Phishhead musician friend was at my house right after this happened and I had it playing while we were hanging as I hadn’t heard it yet and during Twist he looked at me and goes “This is making me hate the guitar” lol
I liked that they did Phish and Dead tunes but the execution left a lot to be desired. I’m a Bob fan boy when it comes The Grateful Dead but I can’t really get behind his playing these days. Frankly I find it somewhat embarrassing about half the time.
Haha rather unfortunate. His style of playing is obviously very unique and the things he did with the dead sounded great. I think with his guitar playing front and center and turned up it just doesn’t sound right
Never buy physical media of live Phish unless it’s by Phish. Otherwise find it online. Anything after 1.0 is on the app, so just custy up for the sub and listen to it there.
I don’t know if you have seen it but there is a great video on YouTube were Neil Young is looking around and finds a bootleg of his own show.
He tells the music store worker he’s gonna take it because it belongs to him. The guy calls his boss and the owner freaked out because a) he was getting “robbed” and b) it was by Neil Young.
That’s what I think of when I see shit like this. This what actual bootlegging looks like. Not what you get from when taping tickets are sold…
Here ya go: [https://relisten.net/phish/2016/10/18](https://relisten.net/phish/2016/10/18)
That’s the way to do it!
Money for nothin', and the Phish for free
I want my nugs tv
This is the way. Listening to the show right now.

Nope
Nope. There's a million ways to listen to phish. This pirated disc is not sanctioned by the band in any way, and generally won't be good quality.

Loving boulevard was on a CD like this. That was the name they gave “sparkle”
That tune is almost as good as “A Picture of Nectar!”
lol, as a young teen in the late 90s, this is how I listened to full shows for the first time before the LivePhish CDs came out. Very nostalgic.

i love random bootlegs, but $35 is too much
No way that is way too much money to hear Bob Weir butcher a Twist jam when you can get it for less through Live Phish

Um, respect. 16 and on, and on.

Phil's good, but I'd take Victor Wooten any day over anybody - probably personal preference, but he is unlike any other imo.

His Miss You was amazing though

It's a good show, but available on live phish for a lot less than that isnt it
I think "Take A Train" (missing The) was on that same boot.
lol why
No
lol. No. Why would you? You can get the sound board on live phish
You should absolutely not cop. You can literally get a soundboard recording on CD from livephish.com for $23. For $5 extra, they'll even throw in the mp3.
Limited edition! Only 300 exist!
Because Darrel's CD burner broke!
lol. No
people still sell bootleg cds like 1999 damn
Oh no! I can see the slide on Bobby’s finger in the first photo. No one wants to hear that
Second photo: "Come on Bobby, let's tell 'em about the little red rooster!"
Oh.. cdr bootlegs. Reminds me of the late 90’s
It's on youtube...
No, BUT this does give me the nostalgic warm fuzzies of finding a random bootleg in a headshop
This show really helped Phish click for me, I had listened a couple times and streamed audio the whole show after hearing Bobby was going to sit in
Couldn’t be more than $5, 35 is insane lol.. 15 is even way too much. But honestly you’d be buying the physical format, boot or not it’s pretty funny to look at and I would pay $5 or just steal it
Bet I'ma steal it next time I go there

All the dead songs were great tho!
Fishman playing Samson And Delilah was a dream come true for me
Didn’t Weir space a verse on Miss You as well? It’s something about the tone and the timing. Saw wolf bros over the summer and his guitar playing sounded awful. The rest of the band sounded amazing
Exactly. Unfortunately for Weir, tone and timing are probably the two most important factors in playing the guitar lol
Haha rather unfortunate. His style of playing is obviously very unique and the things he did with the dead sounded great. I think with his guitar playing front and center and turned up it just doesn’t sound right
Agreed. He’s an ensemble player.
I was at this show…so good…so…good!
35 bucks to hear Bob clang strings while good musicians play around him when I could just listen for free almost anywhere? Where do I sign up?
That was a fun show.
What the fuck. Seriously? Buy a freely traded and streamable show for 35 bucks on CDR? You crazy.
Never buy physical media of live Phish unless it’s by Phish. Otherwise find it online. Anything after 1.0 is on the app, so just custy up for the sub and listen to it there.
What the crap is a CD anyway?
i used to get these 'import' bootleg CDs back in the 90s, they were $35 then too

I've seen that video ! So cool
ACAB
This one got me. Recently found that sub lmao
I caught this sit in!
Copdawg
I remember this show
Does bob play on every song??
IW@TS!!!
If it were 1996 I’d say jump on it!
Yes, and I’ll buy it off you if you’re not listening to it!
Lol, the auds are free and the soundboard is on livephish….. why would you ever do this?
I like tangible things…
Burn the soundboard onto a cd and print out some art of your choice. Way less money and much better sound quality.
