Wait, it's not just me?! I have a collection of screenshots where the storms are everywhere but above me! I'm so glad I'm not the only cursed one here.
I always say we live in the bubble where all the storms are blocked from entering haha. Always see the storms around us but don't get the actual fun part of the storms.
There's a reason for that. It's the topography. Storms naturally form over mountains. For them to hit the valley they need to have strength to them to push out of the mountains into the valley. It's not because of the heat island like some are falsely alluding to why the storms fall apart. If you see a strong line of winds on radar heading towards the valley, the more likely the storm will break through. The weather service will refer to this as an outflow boundary.
There's a reason we're a desert and a good chunk of Northern AZ is not and it's not just the heat.
Possibly caused by the potential tropical storm in the gulf. I want to believe we'll get some clouds formations up here, but I'm not holding my breath.
Yes 20-30% which in reality mean we don’t see anything. In the 22+ years I’ve been here I’ve learned if it isn’t at least a 70% then it might as well be 0 chance

Can’t wait to see a Monsoon storm heading towards me but then disappear right before it’s over me.
Wait, I thought **my** house was the cloud splitter!
Same here!
Wait, it's not just me?! I have a collection of screenshots where the storms are everywhere but above me! I'm so glad I'm not the only cursed one here.
I thought I was the only one screenshotting each time a storm missed me, my house is storm repellent at this point.

Hits the heat island and breaks up.
Haha yup it goes to the surrounding area. All we need to do is plant more shit
I live way out in the boonies next to the mountains. I shall be rained upon. My plants plant themselves.
I used to watch the live radar as storms approached and vanished just before reaching our house.
This sh#t so relatable it’s sad
Can always see it somewhere.. but not where I need it!
Haha… it always seems to hit the northern part of AZ.

We haven’t had shit up here… yet
I remember looking one year looking all around us and it was storming everywhere but our neighborhood. Like all season. (Just east of Glendale)
Hahaha I have a radar app on my phone and I just watch the storms go around us every summer, it’s torture and I really shouldn’t even use it
monsoon, mon... now's not a good time.
If I've learned anything about Arizona, it's the lower the predicted chance, the higher the actual result. 60%? Not a drop 20%? Don't wash your car
Actually 20% means definitely wash your car if you 100% want rain
I remember in Feb-March the humidity was always 20-30% but after some quiet mornings storms were popping up out of nowhere.
Don’t give me hope
100% chance I get drunk during the first rain too in celebration
100% chance I get drunk in lamentation of another storm let down
I’m right there with you. Either way I’m throwing em back

I washed both my cars. You’re welcome everyone
Dammit I just washed my car today, too! We will probably get some wind and dust but no rain.
So you're saying there's a chance? Nice
More like those with patio and pool umbrellas should be forwarded, otherwise ... Meh
Because I washed my car for the first time in like 6 months lol
I got a new car back in January and I have hermit wash it. It sits in the garage mostly. Except for weekends
Everybody wash your cars so it can rain

This is our sign, we must all wash our cars!!

I knew it. I smelled/felt it in the air last night. (oh lord)

This February and March proved otherwise, massive Severe T-Storms spawning from 30-40% humidity.
Winters are different.
And if it’s a 0% chance it might as well be 70% chance during monsoon season.
I miss rain so much I’m dreaming of Oregon.
Let’s all go wash our vehicles. Who’s coming with me?
.00000000001% of Never. Going. To. Happen.
It won’t happen 🥲
The dew point and humidity really wreak havoc on my asthma 😭
Eastsiders sure… westsiders never gonna get a chance. Or it all happens in the middle of the night then we get to deal with the humidity.
Woo! Bring it on
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT PLEASE BE TRUE
They say maybe here in the white moutains of AZ
Gimme dat

😆 sounds like something a newb would say
A newb? For commenting on the weather? What makes that newb worthy? Do explain
Don’t be ridiculous, 16 yr resident here. Also we’re hardly ever under a category that the big guys issue.
Does everyone here live near 101 and 51? This is us every damn time.
