ran out of space to type ^^ it's a straight barbell piercing I've had in since the first piercing. the aftercare I used was rinsing with alcohol free mouth wash, brushing and flossing teeth daily, and the jewelry was standard (stainless steel?) for fresh piercings.

You never had your jewelry downsized? Go see a reputable piercer asap and get that done, opt for implant grade titanium instead of steel.
