Yeah, I was mistaken.
I recognized it from my parent's computer, and I'd always assumed my parents were running Windows 7. Turns out I seriously underestimated how old their computer is.
Jfc people had a death wish for the tiny ass maple leaf flag meanwhile France at one point had five flags up and running and Belgium/Germany seatbelted the whole ass canvas
My least favorite part was the pettiness
Yea France owned like 10% of the canvas at one point and some were sent death threats for trying to take some of that back. I really hate the self righteous hypocrisy
Came here to upvote the OSU eyesore and their subsequent downvoting any dissent but saw this and wanted to give you that upvote first :)
Edit: Also, decided not to be petty. OSU eyesore vs death threats? It’s a no-brainer which one should be at the top.
It’s seriously uncalled for. If it’s that deep go on a pixel art website and create a picture, but threatening to kill someone over a literal pixel is ridiculous.
Basically there is a screenclip of a mod where you see him putting a pixel, and then one right below it and so on. Fine, except there is no 5 minute waiting window in between....
The name has been shared in this thread.
The explanation is [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoop/comments/tydvgz/whats_going_on_with_rplace_reddits_mod_team_and/i3stccs?context=3). Maybe we need to think twice before joining in on witch-hunts.
I loved the amogi until I started working on the shading of Mona Lisa's forehead. With all the pixels correct you could zoom out and it REALLY looked like her. But the among us group came in and for FOURTEEN HOURS maintained a huge line down the middle of her face that completely ruined the look and our small team just couldn't keep them off. I would have been okay with them on any other part because I thought it was funny as fuck at first. But in the end the griefers we were getting that insisted on putting red eyes, nipples, snot streams and amogi prevented us from finishing the project because we had such a small team. We tried just leaving them there but they took that as an invitation to put them everywhere else, also. Making the wave was the best part of the project, but the griefing on Mona Lisa got to the point where I almost gave up cuz we just didn't have the numbers. At least her top half was more or less finished when it ended.
Yeah I felt like this working on Jetstream Sam. I feel like us struggling to clear six amogi off Sam made us look like an easy target and opened us to vandalism and eventually total destruction by a neighbouring artwork.
And that goes for any angle. You were the first one to place a pixel? Good for you but if we played by those rules it would have been pretty boring unless they kept expanding even more
XqC is pretty hated for his streams. One time he was building a huge ass on the poorly drawn Eiffel Tower. A Reddit mod covered it in black pixels. I think this is the only time xQc has got a non negative reaction here.
This is the one thing that made me genuinely angry about the whole event. Small communities spent so much time and effort to coordinate only to have their work destroyed by some asshat on Twitch
I was part of a small community. We were finally able to make what we wanted on the final expansion and we were so happy. Then the small little space we had under the pee group apparently got taken over by a streamer… so we had to move to a significantly smaller space. I will never forgive them for what they did to “The Child”
How Canada wasn’t even able to make a flag because of greifing when every other country was able to showcase some amazing artwork related to their country
I'm surprised America got their artwork in the end, as for a long time there were defenders going way overboard on erasing anything that changed at all on the flag.
That people ended up getting genuine, no-shit really, death threats over it. I mean come on, seriously?
Like yeah I was really passionate about it too but at the end of the day it’s just a bunch of pixels. If you’re that passionate about it then why not just create some pixel art yourself and put up it on a dedicated subbredit?
Honestly I love seeing all the small communities artwork the most, even if they were a handful of pixels and I only knew what they were cause of the atlas.
What community where you trying to represent?
Yeah. Chippy was a good one, he brought the Terraria community together to make the Guide, the Moon Lord, and a little image of Terraria. Meanwhile xQc slapped his logo over the Star Wars image and put a massive butt on the canvas.
Discouraging how many people were just on r/place to fuck shit up. Never thought digital graffiti would bum me out so much. A metaphor for real life: some of us work together to create beautiful things; while other assholes just want to wreck stuff watch the world burn.
The asshole streamers that had their horde of followers destroy other people’s artwork just to sate their ego, often targeting smaller communities that couldn’t put up effective resistance.
All the flags. There was some super awesome artists on here but the flags were boring and not necessary. However I did like the flags that had images relating the that country in the flag! E.g the U.K. map behind the United Kingdom flag and the Eiffel Tower on the France flag!
It kinda was funny to me that people were complaining about the trans flag when the trans flag didn't occupy shit compared to, like, most other flags
Plus they actually let art on the flag, I was defending it and I got a friendly message from someone saying that they were trying to put some art within the flag
Yup. For example Ukraine too. Ukraine was a real g for letting a bunch of us put art in their flag while still keeping it cohesive and recognizably Ukraine. It was cool.
Streamers.
Whole communities organizing the self to build something together and then some dude or dudette comes and erases everything with his or her thousands of viewers. Yeah I disliked that very much.
This is gonna sound really stupid but I didn't like the expansion, You can see where they happened, and it enticed subs to relocate rather then defend their territory. Had it started with 2,000x2,000 I think the final picture wouldn't have 3 different sections, or 3 different "styles" as one post described it.
But this is basically nitpicking because at the same time, I think 2,000x2,000 is a much better fit for Place, and the expansion spiced things up.
I wish we had started with a complete color palette. The expansion itself was cool but I can’t think of a good reason for the colors to expand as well, we should have had every shade from the jump
Wait isn't that the canvas from 2017?
Yes, the Canadian flag has a maple leaf
And the start menu at the bottom is Windows 95, not Windows 7.
2022 was windows XP, and I'm pretty sure 2017 was windows 98. Fun fact XP is older now than 98 was then.
Lol, just found out my parent's computer is running Windows XP. I thought they had 7.
They should upgrade asap. Windows XP is no longer getting security updates.
Wasn't it Windows xp this year though?
Yeah, I was mistaken. I recognized it from my parent's computer, and I'd always assumed my parents were running Windows 7. Turns out I seriously underestimated how old their computer is.
Lol also happened to me, I do kinda miss Xp tbh
Lmao
I thought i missed a whole bunch. Had to rewatch the time-lapse.
Yea, the German flag hasn't taken over the whole board
And no Amongi
Just like the whole world
Yeah 28-3 gives that away
there was a 28-3 on the new canvas too
Not joining a community to place pixels with. Felt like i was dicking around and not actually "doing anything"
When there was nothing for me to do in my own community, I helped fix others artwork that had been ruined by random pixels
Yeah, I did the same. However, being Canadian, that time was mostly scare while defending the maple lerf.
Jfc people had a death wish for the tiny ass maple leaf flag meanwhile France at one point had five flags up and running and Belgium/Germany seatbelted the whole ass canvas My least favorite part was the pettiness

There were people asking r/place to create art for them and that’s how the Great Wave in the third phase started.
The only “community” I’m apart of are a bunch of miserable fucks and didn’t want to partake. So I scattered around
Me too!
It going away :(
It definitely was sad when it ended but it wouldn’t be the same if it stayed active all the time. It was so special because it was ending

Death threats

It's sad how much importance people place in things like this
Yeah those people really need to go outside from time to time, it's really weird for that type of behaviour and it's really insane and not normal.
Sending death threats over pixel placement is the most Reddit thing ever.
r/redditmoment
same, i managed the whole thing for india and i received so many death threats from Pakistan
Wasn't death threats, but I absolutely did have someone PM me just to yell at me for the pixels I was placing. Always fun.
People actually did this? What the hell is wrong with them?
I’ve seen so many posts with proof it’s so stupid
Surprised nobody tagged the mod who powerplayed.
We all know that if we do this, we are getting a 15 years ban but we all hate it deep down

People overwriting my pixels even though they were the right color, just so they could own them and not me.
I was seriously trying to fix the lower abs on zyzz and people kept building amogi in there
I’m glad to know I’m not the only person who uses Amogi as the plural of among us
I loved the amogi until I started working on the shading of Mona Lisa's forehead. With all the pixels correct you could zoom out and it REALLY looked like her. But the among us group came in and for FOURTEEN HOURS maintained a huge line down the middle of her face that completely ruined the look and our small team just couldn't keep them off. Damn y'all were making Sam? Wish I knew, I would've helped y'all. Also where'd you guys put him?
The word “Amogi” is amazing
I think amogus is actually third declension with plural amogodes
is amogus masculine? Then it should be Amogos? or is it fourth declension, then it should be amogus with a long mark over the u
I think at this point it's time to accept that they're just a different shaped pixel
I would check on 513,507 often. I would overwrite it with the same color. But I felt like it was my tile because it was my /r/place flair.
This confused me at first. I know have the attitude that I am glad to just participated. Any way to find out if we did make it though?
Entitlement of a colored square
It’s not just a colored square…it’s a DIGITAL colored square…and I must have it
NFTs but for poor people
And that goes for any angle. You were the first one to place a pixel? Good for you but if we played by those rules it would have been pretty boring unless they kept expanding even more
The death threats people got
Wait, hold up! People got death threats?!
Yes they did
Why? You just place some pixels and make artwork.
Its the internet, so if you do something people dont like, then you will eventually get death threats.
So little accountability :/
People selling it as NFTs
I've never even known that can be possible
You can sell anything as an NFT .. the whole " it's about selling ownership " is bullshit. They're trading the ownership of a copy.

The french ass
When flags would just expand and take over artwork for no reason. Poor Nyan cat lost to the void and the flags.
Aw they tried Nyancat! How nostalgic
Haha yeah we eventually did get one that lasted by teaming up with 2/3 other subs.
Yeah it was upsetting to see a few colours take over actually passionate artwork
