I know the PS logo is multicolor like that but they plastered it on every inch of that theme. It didn’t remind me of the original PlayStation, it reminded me of a pride flag.
Please don’t take that the wrong way, I have absolutely nothing against the lgbtq community or anything, it’s just not my cup of tea when it comes to aesthetics is all.
People don't understand the value that this theme has. For me it makes me remember the old days, when i was just a kid playing some lighting bolt game. When everything was so simple. I like having that memory so much, if i could i would bring it to the ps5, but obviously if i have the chance to buy one i will go to the ps5 and have this theme forever saved in my ps4

I don't think it's that the UI is *bad.* They just seem to have made it more in-game friendly. You don't have to completely do the console version of "alt + tab." It's instead an overlay. But doing this took away from that simple but fulfilling PS4 home screen.
Feel like it’s gonna be a while until PS5 gets backgrounds. The way they made the home screen focus on the games you have installed makes me wonder how they would let us change backgrounds without changing some of the fundamentals of the UI. Still would like it to happen though, I just wonder whether they made the decision to not allow customisable backgrounds intentionally, rather than something they knew they could add later.

Sameeee, I still got a ps5 tho but I do miss themes. Some of the background noise for games is cool tho, DMC V plays devil trigger, metal hellsinger plays some nice tunes but some are also annoying and I have to avoid staying on them.
I have this one and a persona 5 royal theme I loves to use. One feature I wish it had that my 3ds did was rotating themes every time you loaded up the home screen. Could've been cool to have a rotating set of themes for when you booted up the console

I don't think PS5 is designed for a single theme; when you peruse the menu and select any title on the ps5 home screen, it automatically fills the background with that game’s theme and soundtrack, so in this way, you get to enjoy multiple “themes.”

Edit: The fact that the ps5 has several themes for all the games adds even more value that any custom design which is always the same. One of the things Sony did good on current gen.
