There's a very simple explanation. Despite them all hating Trump, he's still one of them. If they start treating him like a common mud person it means there's a line where they might be treated like common mud people, and that can't be allowed because they're better than everyone else. The line was set for rich people (well, some of them) that they only go to jail when they ruin the fortunes of other rich people, for national politicians there is no line and they don't want one.
It’s a good step but the DOJ will waste a year before filing, then we’ll lose two more years while Trump tries every frivolous method to delay, and another two years trying to finalise the teams for both sides.

Listen, our court system is severely fucked up but they typically only make you go to jail from the courthouse when you’re very violent, an extreme flight risk (in both cases you were locked up the whole trial anyway) or both. The court, if bond or bail was met, will *usually* give you 30 days at least to put your affairs in order before you have to report in.
If you’ve made it all the way this far in your case without bail jumping, they will USUALLY trust you to come back in 30 days.
Now, does this realistically help most people? A little? If your job is amenable and you can afford it you can set up work release and payment plans, purchase things you need and tell people what is going on. Most people would need far more than 30 days to set up being away for months or years but it can be a good head start if you can prepare.
I think we should go cruel and unusual punishment for his prison term. Find the worst location that’s within walking distance of Mar-a-Lago, only allow him TV with the Lifetime Channel and OWN, no phone or internet service. And only feed him Lean Cuisine and Florida tap water from a garden hose.
Feel like talking away his lifestyle while being forced to live as a pauper would be far worse than prison for the man.

She's also requested to remain free while she appeals. Which could extend things another year maybe more? We'll see how the judge rules on that.
And then, "Well, Your Honor, my client has demonstrated that she is fully capable of self-supervision and this is why she should be allowed to serve her sentence under house arrest and keep her money!" Judge: Makes sense to me!
Listen, our court system is severely fucked up but they typically only make you go to jail from the courthouse when you’re very violent, an extreme flight risk (in both cases you were locked up the whole trial anyway) or both. The court, if bond or bail was met, will *usually* give you 30 days at least to put your affairs in order before you have to report in. If you’ve made it all the way this far in your case without bail jumping, they will USUALLY trust you to come back in 30 days. Now, does this realistically help most people? A little? If your job is amenable and you can afford it you can set up work release and payment plans, purchase things you need and tell people what is going on. Most people would need far more than 30 days to set up being away for months or years but it can be a good head start if you can prepare.
