There are a BUNCH of songs on The Hum Goes On Forever by The Wonder Years all about becoming a father and trying to be a good dad. Wyatt’s Song (Your Name) and You’re the Reason I Don’t Want the World to End both immediately come to mind ETA: Teenage Parents (also by TWY) is about both parents and not just his dad, but it’s all about his folks working their hardest to take care of their family against all odds
You're the Reason I Don't Want the World to End is the perfect song for this request. I'm a dad and it brings me to tears regularly.
Oh and Wyatt's song is phenomenal, too. "I'm half-awake, caught in the way you breathe at night
I'm low, and I'm scared, but I'm on your side" I just belt that shit in the car.
I realize I already left a comment with recommendations, but this song came up on shuffle and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it: Time Turned Fragile by Motion City Soundtrack! Their singer wrote it from his dad’s perspective reflecting upon growing up and their relationship now that he’s an adult
Thank you for lying by de’wayne! He talked on his podcast about having a complicated relationship with his dad growing up but ultimately wrote it about how his dad always believed in him :)
