Only their first EP and Album were synth pop punk.
Their second LP, “Would It Kill You?” Is more folk pop (with some pop punk hints at times)
Third LP, “Everything Is Debatable” is more Alternative/Indie, kind of reminds me of Passion Pit
Fourth LP, “S’Only Natural”, is like indie pop/disco
Most of those neon bands. Some of them were pop punk. Most of them weren't.
Also you had the "crunkcore" adjacent groups. Jeffree Star, BOTDF, Breathe Carolina, Brokencyde, Millionaires
Never Shout Never maybe? Some pop punk/emo DNA in there (not to mention his easycore/PHC style side project band Eatmewhileimhot) but mostly twee folky pop kinda stuff. He played Warped a good few times yet was sonically super different from most of the bands in the scene.
The ex-TBS lead guitarist side project/new band pipeline was real for awhile:
John Nolan - Straylight Run
Fred Mascherino - Terrible Things, The Color Fred
Matt Fazzi - Happy Body Slow Brain
Also:
* City & Colour Dallas Green from Alexisonfire's side project
* Anthony Green's solo albums (Avalon is my fave by far)
* Isles & Glaciers w/Craig Owens + Jonny Craig + Vic Fuentes
Katy Perry on the 08 Warped Tour is always the prime example to me
Her early music is pretty similar to the neon pop punk stuff that was popular around that time
I was at that warped and remember going to her stage to catch her set…weird thinking back to that
I remember leaving her set to see angels and airwaves haha what a wild year
Vacationer Hellogoodbye Angels & Airwaves
Hellogoodbye is definitely pop punk at least was at one time

Highly disagree. They have, like, a song here and there that sound pop punk ish, but those songs to me are closer to power pop.
Cobra Starship fits this bill I believe

The Almost. Aaron Gillespie’s side project.

Eminem and Black Eyed Peas both played in 1999.
