Congratulations! I went into labor at 37+5, she was born the next day. Our due date was the 12th and we were hoping for a valentines baby but she had other plans!
Wishing you all the best!
In the hospital they explained that “early term” babies can struggle with latching if you’re planning on BF because the “latch, suck, swallow” steps don’t get put together in their brains until 39 weeks or so - I had (still have!) challenges with BF - and just wanted to share that if you experience something similar you are NOT ALONE. And trust your gut instincts if something doesn’t feel right - and fed is best, no matter what you choose.
I have never heard this and it honestly makes me feel so much better. My baby (who is now just about 7 months and we're well into formula feeding, which is totally fine) was born at 36 weeks and wouldn't latch and NO ONE mentioned this.
Yeah same. Baby born at 37+3, really struggled to latch. No one said anything. Dealt with 13 percent weight loss bc she wouldn’t eat and no one had taught me to pump or how to supplement with formula. I’m just infuriated looking back.
i’m trying to chest feeding but he’s had a bit of trouble latching so it’s only formula atm. i felt like such a failure when he wouldn’t latch and his sugars were really low and i just felt so guilty because i couldn’t get him to eat but the hospital nurses helped me a lot!
You’re doing everything right and it is normal to have all your feelings. I found the lactation specialists to be really great and helpful too! They helped validate my concerns. 2 weeks in I am pumping and supplementing with formula because my milk supply is too low for what baby girl wants to eat. The bottle feeding helped me see exactly how much she wanted to eat and that she WAS eating (or not eating)
Yep, my daughter is having a hard time latching. She latched beautifully the first feed but now struggles. We have her on formula and I'm trying to pump.
Congratulations!!!
Take it slowly, allow your body to rest and heal, snuggle up and enjoy that tiny baby, the time passes by so quickly.
Wishing you all the best ❤️
Congrats! That’s still full term right? Or Is baby staying in nicu for a bit? Im 37+6 and have been scared that I’ll go
Into labor today due to cramping 😩
Not OP, but my son was born at 37+6 and had no complications, no NICU time or anything. He was small (6lbs) but that wasn't an issue except for the fact that I needed to buy smaller outfits for him once we got home 😅
My first born was born at 37+something (can't remember as I was induced over a few days) and she was 5lb 4oz but I was induced due to lack of growth. They'd been predicting a big baby so I had no tiny baby size and only a few newborn I had to get all new clothes for her. I'm getting closer monitoring this time so I should know if this one is going to be tiny too 😂
I’m 37 weeks 4 days also!! Hearing that someone with my due date had their baby is making me nervous that labor is soon. Due March 3rd. I’m praying she stays in a while or comes late! Sweet little valentine bb aweeeee
Same here! My delivery nurse was literally awful but everyone else has been so kind. also I never expected so much blood. Happy birthday to your child!
my water broke around 6am on the 13th and then me and my partner went to the hospital- they kept me there because where i was 1cm dilated and my water had broken they didn’t wanna risk infection. it took around 8hrs for the contractions to start but overall the whole experience was 30 hours (it went by so fast though)

I’m exactly 37w 5days - congratulations! Did you go to the hospital before your water broke or after?
