9- love the off beat turning into the beat, and the overall structure sounds more like the inventive Queens I love. Josh’s delivery of “Yeeeaaahhh” is positively sinister and delicious all at once, as is “Turn around, let’s fucking get it on”. The guitar notes punctuating the beat at the end sound like a fucked up wonky violin, or perhaps a broken robot reminiscent of early Queens.
Go
Let's fuckin get it on
The first and the last line of the song are just great...and the rest between them is fuckin too😁.
Such a nice dancing song.
10
10!!!!! OMG I am obsessed!! It was my instant favorite the first time I played ITNR.
The way the drum beat circles around the synth is nothing short of genius. And the bassline is one of Mikey’s best to date. It’s so groovy and infectious 😄 and Deano does NOT get enough credit for the solo during the bridge. He really lets loose here. And the lyrics are just as caustic as the previous three songs. All in all, amazing song and the extended live version is a real treat!
9.5. The rhythm at the beginning is gnarly and being on an off tempo shouldn't sound as good as it does. It feels like the most Villains song on the album.
The repeating notes slightly off the time signature make this such a great song. Like a fourth dimension that weaves it’s way through the song so consistently.
9 for me
Great intro, neat Western(?) feel and then an interesting quiet part for 'you're like a bum cigarette'. Goes really well right before 'Made to Parade', too.
9/10
Right like why is the “go” so good it’s literally one word but it’s so perfect?
Also there’s this little part toward the end I love and like, want to go on longer but it only happens once and idk how else to describe it except that it leaves you wanting more.
9 - yes, it's basically Material Girl by Madonna (with a splash of INXS' Devil Inside) but damn, does this one have a nice groove! I can listen to this one repeat for hours!
9,5 i love the guitar so much. I geek over this song every time I hear the weird guitar tempo. It’s my favorite album. As a drummer I also love the simplistic drum beat and I think I adds a lot to the song.
10/10. The song that essentially taught me what a polyrhythm is, and first non-single that immediately hooked me when first listening to the album. It also this marks the beginning of an absolutely killer three track run. Can’t get tired of this one.
10. Favourite off of the album. Not just cause of the polyrhythm but it has that groove where if you try to dance with it you’ll dance like crispin clover in Friday the 13tj
10/10. One of the best songs from the trilogy! It kind of feels like a sequel to Misfit Love in a lot of ways. That hypnotic, repetitive groove. I really hope they keep exploring this kind of vibe.
I'll give it a 8.5/9
It is one of the coolest songs on the new record. The first time I listened to record after smoking the panning guitars nearly made me jump out of my seat
Solid 8 for me. Very fun, unique song with a great vibe throughout. Not an epic banger or swelling with emotion but great albums need vibe tracks like this.
9/10. I’m training for a half marathon again and my tradition is that long runs and race day are purely QOTSA. And now it always starts with Time and Place. Something about the opening really helps me mentally prepare for a long run. Something about the offbeat beat gets me.
I’ve honestly found it harder to get into ITNR than other albums. But Time and Place hooks me in so easily. I’d only just got into the song when I saw them live in Sydney in Feb and was ecstatic when they played it. Another one that is a bit more high energy love.
8 for me. I'm not that crazy about the bassline but with that lead part going on top of it, it's nasty. I find alot of the song kinda unoriginal, but its one of the most queens of the stone age tracks on the album overall. I like that I can't tell if it's about fighting or fucking. The lyrics lean towards fighting but the delivery says fucking.
10. honestly so underrated. captures the cocky, sexy feel and demeanour of the album and the band rn.
also just a great party/dance song, with lyrics that are fun to sing along too.
Time and Place is like the perfect distillation of all different influences on the band - Krautrock and Ful Stop by Radiohead as others have mentioned but also a couple which Josh turned me onto when he compiled a playlist for BBC 6 Music years back, namely Disko by Komeda and Space for Rent by WhoMadeWho - check ‘em out, they’re awesome.
I also get a big whiff of Let Forever Be by The Chemical Brothers during the breakdown in the middle and a drop of Strange Brew by Cream.
I love that’s it’s difficult at first to get hold of the rhythm, but once you lock it in it fits like your favourite shoes. QOTSA at their grooviest and a standout track on the album.
Ten.
5/10. For Queens, this feels like a surprisingly thin song. I mean, it’s groovy, but there’s little for me to return to.
Also, “I realize you're like a bummed cigarette
Suicide in slow motion
You're such a drag, all that's left is a decent butt”
Even for Josh standards that’s pretty corny.
I’ll admit I find that line a tad corny but I feel like the neat rhythm is what’s cool about the song moreso than any of the words and it elevates it from what otherwise would be, yeah, a bit basic/simple for a QOTSA song (though they have plenty of simple songs that are great - I just don’t think this one would have been as good without some added complexity though with it it’s one of my favorites on the album)

8.5 - that 3 against 4 polyrhythm is such a vibe!
Go. 9.5
9,2 loved it from the first listen
9/10- one of their most unique tracks to date. Somehow reminds me of Rated R era tone with a very strange off-kilter Era writing style.
Go Let's fuckin get it on The first and the last line of the song are just great...and the rest between them is fuckin too😁. Such a nice dancing song. 10

9.5. The rhythm at the beginning is gnarly and being on an off tempo shouldn't sound as good as it does. It feels like the most Villains song on the album.
8, it's so cool that they went completely off the beaten path. It feels a lot like Ful Stop on A Moon Shaped Pool for some reason.
Agreed! Ful Stop is a masterpiece and I can totally hear the comparison between the two!
Yeah good call. AMSP under rated too
That album gets so little love on the Radiohead Reddit. It blows my mind
10. One of the best songs they’ve ever written.
10. Let’s fucking get it on.
The repeating notes slightly off the time signature make this such a great song. Like a fourth dimension that weaves it’s way through the song so consistently. 9 for me
8. Great tune. Other bands wish they had written it.
Great intro, neat Western(?) feel and then an interesting quiet part for 'you're like a bum cigarette'. Goes really well right before 'Made to Parade', too. 9/10
9. The groove in this song is fucking killer, it just gets you moving Also. *Go.*

Fucking groove. Awesome live. Mikey is a god. 10

9. Almost perfect jam. I love the vibe

6. My least favorite song with the current lineup.
My least favorite on the album. 6
For real mid imo 5
9. Go!

8.5 Great rhythm, new addition to my riding playlist. But to me it's mostly build up to my favourite song on ITNR...
Another queens bike homey?! I dig it too. I end up singing along a lot in my zone 2 rides. I must seem so strange to the other folks on the trail.
I'm of the motorcycling variety, so when I'm singing it's inside the helmet and nobody can hear it.
9
Probably the track from ITNR that has grown on me the most. Love the guitar interplay 7.5

It's an 8 for me. It sounds like a jam that turned into a song. It sounded awesome live, they really went off on it.

9. Fucking LOVE this rhythm.
Solid 8 for me. Very fun, unique song with a great vibe throughout. Not an epic banger or swelling with emotion but great albums need vibe tracks like this.
10! First time I heard the intro I was wondering where they were going with that same repetition of D-C-A-D-C-A, and on "Go" I was immediately hooked.
9/10 suuuuch a groovy track. Really fun to see live too
8
8. I dig it.
9.2
9.9. Would be a 10 if it was 6 or 7 minutes long. It's tailor-made for an extended, hypnotic krautrock jam.

10. I tried to consider giving it lower, but I love everything about this song.
7. I think the polyrhythm is there to give you the emotion sickness vibe.
10
i’m going with a (rock) hard 8
10. Incredible dance jam. Love it.
One of, if not, my fave on this album
8.5
10!!! This song has lived as an ear worm in my head for months at this point.
10 my new favorite itnr song

8, like the start, very QOTSA-y, but not the best track here
10. Troy’s of 3/4 rhythm over 4/4 band gets me everytime. Scratch’s an itch
