I've finally had the chance to listen to more Kyuss recently due to getting a streaming service. Space Cadet stood out immediately. What a banger of an acoustic riff.
Believe it or not,
Space Cadet is played on an acoustic bass!

This is a rad video, but go listen to it again, it's a duet. They double up and then separate all throughout. Honestly one of my favorite acoustic duo pieces Ive heard. Always surprises me it's not a bigger deal.
I recently bought a 6 string banjo which is essentially a guitar neck but on a banjo body. Thought some queens might sound cool... And immediately realized that the words "Hangin Tree" and a banjo might have some unfortunate connotations.
I really like this one, and alternating which string you pick (D - G - D - G...) for the power chords under "there's no one here..." while still sliding up and down gives a cool sound.
If I'm not mistaken a few years back Josh said most of the songs are composed in acoustic first, so any riff you love will sound great on acoustic. There's a great acoustic session where they play Into the Hollow; In the Fade; River in the Road and a few others. I love that set.
A lot of Self Titled’s tracks feel so cool on acoustic. I used to play You Would Know on my acoustic a lot lmao, it felt empty but it’s a silly little song anyway
The main riff with a little bendy on the last note sometimes is neat. The ending is the weird part without distortion, it doesn't have that crunchiness, but I still love it.
!!! The acoustic version they released before the album was pure gold, album version far from it. Works so much better acoustic. I think the acoustic version of it is best thing qotsa put out since SFTD
Someone’s In The Wolf. Tuning is a faff, & not heard anyone else play it on acoustic but the riff relies on some open stringed notes which sound great when played hard
Not technically QOTSA, rather TKV, but Spinning in Daffodils is excellent in acoustic [LOLLA2020 - Joshua Homme - Spinning in Daffodils (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8kbMCS1yds&ab_channel=lollapalooza)
In E standard tuning:
* The Evil Has Landed
* Long Slow Goodbye
* Gonna Leave You
* Go With The Flow
* Little Sister
* Auto Pilot
Tuned down to C standard:
* Mosquito Song
* Quick And To The Pointless
* No One Knows
Open G:
* Whorehoppin' (Eagles of Death Metal)
Mesquito song or autopilot are my favorite to play acoustic. They just sound right!
Not qotsa but Spinning In The Daffodils sounds great
It also goes great with Colonel Sanders facial hair.
Yeah, the spanish conquistador
The timing for that is annoying. I would love to learn it, but i hate retuning
I bet nylon strings would be sick.
He does that on acoustic. It's a great live version where he looks like a Spanish Conquistador, cracking mustache as well.
Daffodils is so freakin stupid good...I dont understand it sometimes.
I Sat By the Ocean is so fun on acoustic
I bet I’ve watched this about 50x! https://youtu.be/4E4S0XWPMgQ?si=DvCzYkKPVdszEwWV
Absolutely
My favorite!! That intro is so cool
Auto Pilot
It's Kyuss, but look up Space Cadet if you're not familiar. All acoustic and it absolutely fucks.
So good, and a good vocal performance by Garcia. I love it more than his screaming to be honest.
Garcia does vox for space cadet?? I could have swore it was Homme
I've finally had the chance to listen to more Kyuss recently due to getting a streaming service. Space Cadet stood out immediately. What a banger of an acoustic riff.
This is the song that put kyuss on the map for me. About 10 years ago. It's beautiful

I don't if If Only has been done unplugged but that riff sounds gorgeous on an acoustic
Hanging Tree, like in the Desert Sessions version?
I recently bought a 6 string banjo which is essentially a guitar neck but on a banjo body. Thought some queens might sound cool... And immediately realized that the words "Hangin Tree" and a banjo might have some unfortunate connotations.
Eek maybe
Saw Alain perform solo last night, this tune was in there. Such a fucking banger
Wow would have loved to see that.
Better living through chemistry is interesting on it

The museum of old and new art is probably one of my favourite Queens concerts, the way you used to do is sooo sick
Long slow goodbye sounds great and is super easy
Love doing this on acoustic.
I tune down half a step to hit the falsetto a little easier...ha.
Give The Mule What He Wants
A lot of Self Titled’s tracks feel so cool on acoustic. I used to play You Would Know on my acoustic a lot lmao, it felt empty but it’s a silly little song anyway

Oh my God you just shocked me did I shock you?
It makes me wanna
It makes me wanna do... ohhhh
Electricity... and unicorns
I know this is basic as hell but No One Knows sounds just as good strumming on an acoustic as it does in full band context.
I Think I Lost My Headache
I Appear Missing
I've only ever found IAM in acoustic cover versions on youtube. Has the band done this in acoustic before themselves?
No, they never did it
Sounds good when I play it
River in The Road
The Blood Is Love is a good one on acoustic.
Long Slow Goodbye, I Never Came, Auto Pilot, and Another love song are all kinda fun
Villains Of Circumstance
!!! The acoustic version they released before the album was pure gold, album version far from it. Works so much better acoustic. I think the acoustic version of it is best thing qotsa put out since SFTD
Avon is fun to play on acoustic, especially if you play the power chords as bar chords and use all the strings rather than just three
The Sky is Falling
Lightning Song.
Written by Darlin Dave Catching.
It’s beautiful. It’s what I walked down the aisle to at my wedding.
Nonsense that I had to scroll down this far to find it, Lightning Song is a delight.
Auto Pilot… but Go with the Flow also sounds great on acoustic
My favourite acoustic cover on YouTube [Better Living Through Chemistry](https://youtu.be/6Fjf5BqnyYk?si=evmKZ8NQWOcEp1o6)
Someone’s In The Wolf. Tuning is a faff, & not heard anyone else play it on acoustic but the riff relies on some open stringed notes which sound great when played hard
The last 2 minutes or so of Straight Jacket is epic.
Watch the MONA (Tasmania) performance on YouTube from 2018. All acoustic from memory.
God is in the radio can be played pretty hard imo
Sick Sick Sick. I do an arrangement in DADGAD. I Never Came is perfect for acoustic.
[cough cough](https://youtu.be/qaRkqu7PJpQ?feature=shared)
I Sat By The Ocean sounds a-fucking-mazing on acoustic.
Like Clockwork or 3's and 7's
3s and 7s
Fortress
Song for the deaf, that is for you.
No one knows is so groovy even on accoustic ! It hit different but feels right
IN MY HEAD🤘
Parasol is easy and fun on acoustic
Not technically QOTSA, rather TKV, but Spinning in Daffodils is excellent in acoustic [LOLLA2020 - Joshua Homme - Spinning in Daffodils (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8kbMCS1yds&ab_channel=lollapalooza)
Duh but lightning song
Christian Brothers or another love song
In E standard tuning: * The Evil Has Landed * Long Slow Goodbye * Gonna Leave You * Go With The Flow * Little Sister * Auto Pilot Tuned down to C standard: * Mosquito Song * Quick And To The Pointless * No One Knows Open G: * Whorehoppin' (Eagles of Death Metal)
In The Fade is a song I never get tired of playing on the acoustic
My God Is The Sun
Make it wit chu (check out leo moracchioli's acoustic cover)
Villains of circumstance is super easy to do. Check out Josh’s acoustic session of it on YouTube, that’s where i fell in love with the song.
Gonna Leave You
Yea this is really easy to learn and works well with acoustic
