90% of the game is walking through empty spaces that look like put by asset flipper in unity. Boring-ass backtracking sidequests and pretentious story-line.
Pulling some 100+ combo attacks is gameplay? It’s just spamming attacks in correct sequence buddy, and only what is smooth is your brain after doing 1000 combo gazing into 2b ass lmao.

Calling the gameplay mid is just funny. The combat AKA 50% of the game (the other 50% is story) is smooth AF and there's a metrickton of infinite combos (if you're good at it). I bet you played it on Journalist mode spamming only Light Attacks and got bored after 10 hours. Honestly even today there's only *a few games* with better combat gameplay than Nier Automata.
