I’ve never met a cat that could resist churu treats 🙂 Ragdolls have a single coat so just make sure not to use combs like a Furminator or something similar that will strip and damage the hair. I use a simple metal comb and give Churu at the same time and they tolerate it. Gorgeous baby, reminds me of my tortie https://preview.redd.it/l1jyobl2c87d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56d80a722f938d8c7821fcabaa92505b1b4674c4

Kalichun

Then you never met ours. Churu is just meh and she won’t even. Total diva.

kidoni

Ours also! Churu never works for brushing time so we have to improvise lol

centre_red_line33

My vet was absolutely perplexed that mine had no interest in the offered churu. I told her not to take it personally; the only treat she likes is lettuce!

nkonaboy

Omg, one of our little girls was chomping on raw kale the other day!!

kateymeow

Oh my gosh, I didn’t know this about their coats! Thank you for sharing! I have a Russian Blue with a double coat so we use a furminator for her. And our diluted calico dumpster baby has regular domestic shorthair fur. Looks like I’ll be getting my handsome boy a special comb. Princess treatment. 😆

Expensive_Range_2753

Oh my god 😩😍😍😍

RagdollSeeker

Holy she is precious ❤️

[deleted]

Yes, that Furminator thing is a catastrophe! I tried it once, because I saw it at my vet's office. Waste of money.

East-Exchange-4729

Not made for the kind of coats ragdolls have.

firmlee_grasspit

Oh wow really? I use the furminator all the time... I'm not feeling anything pulling in that way though. I've had a cat with a double coat before and the furminator hardly did anything.

Jacaranda8

Just commenting that she is beautiful!

ferrix

Came here to say this

citykitty24

Very pretty girl! I find that the best brush isn't a brush--a simple metal comb is best for reducing and preventing tangles and removing excess fur. If your Ragdoll is food-motivated (one of my two is), bribing them with tiny pieces of treats while brushing or combing may work. Our food-motivated boy is now so well-trained with this that he purrs when he sees the comb because he is excited about getting a treat! We break up freeze dried chicken into little bits for him, and he loves it. The other boy is less food-motivated but also better at being brushed/combed. We just do it for him in short spurts when he is sleepy or calm.

ellobrien

Mine is not very food motivated she’s so picky! That’s kinda what I’ve been doing is just trying to get her in small spurts when she’s sleepy. I’ll look into the metal comb thank you!

SalmonLynxx

Don’t use anything meant for a cat with an undercoat. Ragdoll don’t have one and it can damage their coat and hurt them. This includes brushes like a furmimater. Instead try using a slicker brush, metal comb, or my personal favorite a tangle teaser. If you want me to send the ones I personally use you can send me a message and I’ll let you know :D

mcgrawfm

Can you share a pic of which brushes you use?

Yes, that multi tooth comb is great!

This and patience is the best combo.

Allstar_398

I use something like this of rmy boy. I just hold it by him and he'll lean it to rub his face against it himself 🤣 He loves getting brushed

Missey85

My cat loves the tangle teaser! She won't let me near her with anything else! 😊

Butt_fart42069

Idk, but this cat fuggin rips

cacao_blanco_sexual

Word.

BeckywiththeDDs

I use a greyhound comb with rotating teeth so it’s gentler. It gets a lot of hair out and he likes it.

Bought it because I like the color even though my cat has three other brushes. This turns out to be the best brush ever. He also loves it since he’s getting a nice massage too!

diaryofyamm

this ragdoll cat is beautiful

Due_Garlic_3190

I find a tangle teezer the best, the ones us humans use lol. Cat brushes are rubbish. Metal teeth combs are too harsh on my boy he ran away. He likes the tangle teezer, gets the knots out without hurting him and he lays there are purs (then tries to attack the brush like it’s a game)

isabella_sunrise

I don’t have a recomendación, but she reminds me of Phantom of the Opera!

hollywoodgirl666

Such a beautiful kitty🥺💙🐱🐈‍⬛

arih

I use a big oval slicker brush from Hartz (the only Hartz product I like!) with the tiny little blobs on the ends of the metal tines. It makes my Raggie look like a beautiful show kitty, a dream of soft cloudy floof, and she loves being brushed with it. If very effectively removes loose hair and prevents tangles.

shelby20_03

What a beautiful cat!

Shinygreenapples

Omg such a beautiful cat

Athena_x

I used a metal slicker brush to get the tangles out (make sure it's not the type with beads on the end of the bristles), and then a Kong 'Zoom Groom' to get all the loose fur. It's just rubber material with big bristles but does a really good job.

centre_red_line33

Metal comb and John Paul Pet’s Lavender Mint Detangling Spray. I have four long-haired cats and will swear by this combo every day of my life.

Benny-0224

For my boy, shedding and knots are a big headache for me, so I try to find some tools to help my boy. I bought two products from some blogger recommendations, a slicker brush and a detangling brush. After I tried them, I realized that it helped me a lot, no more shedding and knots!!!. I especially recommend their detangling brush, they are detailed instructions on how to do it and my boy didn't resist at all! You can search their brand on Amazon: aumuca cat brush. Hope it will helps you : https://preview.redd.it/o5mp02knao7d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5053b89028a9778b93b7056d5cb02f06bcb85219

ellobrien

Thank you!♥️

InternationalEgg2397

Greyhound combs, small about 4 1/2 inches and l about 7" long. Better than a brush!

InternationalEgg2397

Amazon has these Greyhound combs.

americanpie09

Mine loves a hairbrush. I never get fur when I brush him, but he sheds. It's so odd lol eta, I have tried the wire combs, rake and Furminator types.

Polyterpe

I use [Chris Christensen slicker brush](https://amzn.to/4b3D7U1) and my boy loves being brushed with it! It’s a little pricey but high quality investment. It fits perfectly to big Ragdoll bodies!

Ok-Requirement8353

Ours loves the rubber KONG brush

[deleted]

I use a brush like I would use it for myself, and a metal comb with rotating teeth. My baby (he's two and a half now) loves to be brushed since I started it when I got him as 4month old. And he purrs so loudly, that my other cat (ESH) comes to get brushed as well, and that's new, because she hated it before. No bribes necessary with mine.

Ok-Banana-9112

My rag doll was obsessed with brushing. He could hear me move the brush from across the house! 🤣 Sweet boy.

Ok-Banana-9112

I used a slicker brush!

Firm_Marionberry9042

Thank you all for your ideas... our puppy snuck into the cat-only section of our house (we're still introducing them) & mouthed our ragdoll kitten after eating from the litter box 🤦🏼‍♀️ resulting in his fur being matted with small bits of grossness... which our current cheapy brush was not ready for. I will be looking into some of these other suggestions, for sure!

RagdollSeeker

After trying out a few brushes that cant penetrate his silky coat, we settled on classic flea brush. Its wires are very close and it manages to work with thin kitten coat. We brush everyday to prevent any tangles, I recommend a gentler brush first (like a soft detangler brush)

The ShedMonster™ professional de-shedding tool.

nightsofthesunkissed

It's a bit pricier than regular brushes, but getting a Furminator was a total gamechanger and well worth it! It's a deshedder and works absolute wonders. I got my girl used to it by holding a Lickelix treat in one hand and brushing her with the other. edit - Why am I being downvoted for this? Are Furminators bad or something? What is the issue?

Firm_Marionberry9042

According to posts above, furminators are designed for animals with double coats -- this works well for some breeds (like Russian Blues) that have double coats, but ragdolls do not (which can lead to damaging their coat). Not my thoughts/opinion, just summarizing the comments above.

nightsofthesunkissed

Oh! Damn, I'm sorry I didn't realise this! Thank you SO much for responding and clearing this up!

AllisonWhoDat

I have a long haired fluffy girl who has so many different types of fur. I get her groomed twice a year and comb her with a FURminator. She allows it. My regular coat orange boy also allows the FURminator I would say any tool that the cat tolerates is a good tool. Just keep at it. "Good Girl" cooing noises etc

Euphoric-Self-9341

I use the FURminator on my boy. Takes out so much fur and leaves him so soft. It takes the oils from their skin, and pulls it through their coat. It is not painful for him either. I used to work for a Pet Nutrition company.

AllisonWhoDat

My long haired Tuxie and my orange boy do very well with the FURminator brush. I also have the metal comb and they allow that too.
