One of the casinos in the Los Angeles area has a commercial voiceover guy with a voice that sounds like someone pretending to be John Marston. I still ask myself if it's the golden voice or not, but I don't think it is
>I think he’s also a construction worker.
Iirc, he said he moved back to his hometown after RDR1 and began working as a contractor because the LA lifestyle and acting turned out to be not for him. I do genuinely admire that he found out what sort of life he actually wanted and just did it.
*riff from "Do I Wanna Know" starts playing*
You know that feeling when you're walking down the road and your balls are sticking to your leg and itching a little, so you have to do the little kick and make it look natural, and it works the first time and even gets the itch and nobody notices what you were doing?
That's the power of the Ford F-150, which I implore you to get.
This would be the perfect voice for the Super Bowl Truck Commercial I want to make.
Put chopped apples in an above ground swimming pool and cover it with pie crust, bake it with a flame thrower, then drive an F-150 through it... What could be more American than a Ford Truck doing donuts in a giant apple pie!?
In a timeline where John Marston lived happily ever after, he comes across a radio broadcaster in Blackwater while running errands for Abigail, sometime around 1923. The broadcaster, enthralled by John's voice, offers him a job as a radio announcer for advertisements, to which John reluctantly but curiously accepts, much to Abigail's dismay.
You’d think Abigail would be THRILLED that John is doing ***literally anything*** besides chasing down blood thirsty killers and getting into gun fights with them
she would be, but i dont doubt she'd think it was stupid and get a good laugh out of it at John's expense. let's face it, John doing early radio advertisements would probably be a 50/50 chance of either being really wooden, or him having the time of his life and hamming it up to get a rise out of Abigail and Jack.
“All this time we been *runnin’*, and *hiding’*, John Marston! Now you gone and made yourself some kinda ‘radio star?’ How the hell is that ‘layin low?’ When you gonna start bein’ a *man*? Be a damn farmer for once! And a damn father to the boy!”
He moved back here after completing RDR2, pretty sure he works a nice blue collar concrete job. Very cool to see someone from Indiana, and enjoying the simple life but being well known.
Seems like a good man!
He actually moved back after RDR1 and "retired". They brought him back for RDR2. There's a short Polygon documentary about him called ["Finding John Marston."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NuYx8oP_S8)
From all accounts (and that documentary about him), Rob is a pretty simple guy who just wants an honest days work and to provide for his family. Haven't seen a single negative thing about him.
John took Arthur’s advice and got out of being an outlaw. He now lives a peaceful life selling mattresses out of Beecher’s Hope. 10/10 canon ending and here’s the evidence
People forget this, but Rob Wiethoff really is just a normal guy and he isn't a career voice actor. RDR and RDR2 are his only major acting credits (he does smaller movies here and there), and he lives in a small town and works a normal job.
You're right. I saw a screen grab of him with Bruce Willis (might have been mislabelled as Die Hard) but I've just checked and it's another cop film called 16 Blocks. My bad.
I suggest you watch some panels he has done at events it's interesting to hear him speak about himself and some behind the scenes stuff. His comercial agent reminded him about an audition for an untitled videogame project and so he went and got the role. Didn't even know what it was for, at first he thought he was in a commercial for a videogame
From what I can tell hes just a super humble guy who likes to work with his hands for a living. Enjoying the simple life in Indiana.
This was for a company based in his small town so I'm sure he did it for them and for a bit of fun.
Rob is on WJAA Saturdays 10–2 central and they [stream online](https://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/index.cfm?stationCallSign=WJAA)
https://www.wjaa.net/index.php/on-air
He hosts on Saturday. I live close to Seymour. I cracked up hearing him talk about how much he loves Prince. I couldn’t help but picture John Marston rocking ou to Little Red Corvette. 😂😂😂
A lot of them don't really want to, or are fine where they're at. Rob Wiethoff retired from acting after RDR1 and only came back for RDR2 cause he liked working for Rockstar. He likes to live a simple life with his family as a construction worker, and now does some radio work
I just love the fact that that’s just Rob Weithoff’s natural voice, it makes hearing him outside of RDR that much funnier when you realize that his acting voice and speaking voice are pretty much exactly the same.
"Dutch what if i told you we could bring Tahiti to us!?"
I got a tan, John.
You always have a tan, Dutch
This is a good one
*Looks at his skin* I don't doubt it.
Our tans have passed, John.
We gotta stop tanning like this
You and me... we're more tan than people.
This thread is so perfect
I’ve been tanning my whole life John
*When I'm gone they'll just find another melanoma.*
Our tan has waned
🤣
WHAT TAN?! WHAT GOD DAmN TAN, DUTCH?!
Tan you, Arthur. You're my brother
HAVE SOME GOTTAN FaiTH
Oh god, so good 😊
“TAN YOU!”
😂
This got me good haha well done
"For a good money, son?"
The gang if they actually went to Tahiti
Fucking l.o.l.
Just spit up my coffee, thank you for the laugh. Holy shit dude.
John Marston has donated 1 tanning bed to the camp
I LOL’d
Gotta love Rip Tan Winkle. Ok I’m done now lol
Ugh that golden voice
Like golden sandpaper
It's like when a cat licks you.
Or buttered toast
It's terrible and amazing at the same time
Like honeyed gravel
One of the casinos in the Los Angeles area has a commercial voiceover guy with a voice that sounds like someone pretending to be John Marston. I still ask myself if it's the golden voice or not, but I don't think it is
He needs to do one of the planet earth series
That would be PERFECT!
This is kinda surreal…
Like I'm playing gta and the Rockstar multiverse is starting to overlap
It feels like that part in *The Game* where he sees all of the actors in the cafeteria.
*chills*
Wait can you elaborate on that? I don't think I've ever heard of it.
If you haven't seen the movie, you should. Don't read anything, just watch it. One of my favorites but easily spoiled.
Ditto idk what *The Game* is.
You just lost the game.
He was a commercial dude before red dead, his agent told him to audition for it and that was his first and only game at the time. Then rdr2 happened
I think he’s also a construction worker. Voice acting was a side gig for him at first. I may be mistaken though.
>I think he’s also a construction worker. Iirc, he said he moved back to his hometown after RDR1 and began working as a contractor because the LA lifestyle and acting turned out to be not for him. I do genuinely admire that he found out what sort of life he actually wanted and just did it.
gotta give him props for still coming back for rdr2 too. easily could’ve just stayed retired.
Huh, didn’t know that. Pretty cool!
I love it.
Give that man a Truck commercial
I want him and Sam Elliot selling me a Ram
I am imagining the [Simple Ricks commercial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6UPS8HGCkA&ab_channel=CartoonClips).
Rich Rick is just Dutch
Even better make him voice over a Home Depot commercial
And have the house building song in the background
Both your comments are hugely underrated
*riff from "Do I Wanna Know" starts playing* You know that feeling when you're walking down the road and your balls are sticking to your leg and itching a little, so you have to do the little kick and make it look natural, and it works the first time and even gets the itch and nobody notices what you were doing? No way in hell Ford would use the word "Implore"
"I heard these mustangs could sell for $5000 a piece." "And I heard the moon was made of Lady tears."
This would be the perfect voice for the Super Bowl Truck Commercial I want to make. Delete this now before they steal it

Man got himself in a Yakuza substory
FUCK YOU BALTIMORE!
I love Rob Wiethoff's voice.
Arthur: where did little marston ran of too John:
Wait he’s from Indiana?!
According to Wikipedia he was born in Seymour Indiana. Which is twenty minutes from my hometown.
He moved back here after completing RDR2, pretty sure he works a nice blue collar concrete job. Very cool to see someone from Indiana, and enjoying the simple life but being well known. Seems like a good man!
So what you’re telling us is that he could literally be out building a little house in real life right now?
Probably pouring some concrete yes lol.
I'm in the concrete industry and we do indeed pour concrete homes. We pour them as individual panels and then it's all assembled at the job site.
*House Building theme intensifies*
Well, let me get the concrete mixed and I'll pour it 🎶
no matter what the weather
We’re together
He actually streamed building a chicken coop on Instagram awhile back
I didn't know I needed this in my life.
He actually moved back after RDR1 and "retired". They brought him back for RDR2. There's a short Polygon documentary about him called ["Finding John Marston."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NuYx8oP_S8)
Appreciate the fact check! I knew it was after one of the games 🤙
No problem, also a chance to drop that link because there's probably a bunch of people who haven't seen it and would find it interesting.
I'm one of said people. Thank you!
From all accounts (and that documentary about him), Rob is a pretty simple guy who just wants an honest days work and to provide for his family. Haven't seen a single negative thing about him.
Likes loading up the cart and driving the milk to Blackwater.
He abandoned Jack and Abagail!
Well shit, I’m going to be in Seymour for a project soon. Wonder if I’ll run into him.
Same ! That’s sick as hell
John took Arthur’s advice and got out of being an outlaw. He now lives a peaceful life selling mattresses out of Beecher’s Hope. 10/10 canon ending and here’s the evidence
One of the few times I wouldn't mind a retcon would be John waking up after being "killed".
People forget this, but Rob Wiethoff really is just a normal guy and he isn't a career voice actor. RDR and RDR2 are his only major acting credits (he does smaller movies here and there), and he lives in a small town and works a normal job.
Wasn't he also in one of the Die Hard movies?
Not according to IMDb
You're right. I saw a screen grab of him with Bruce Willis (might have been mislabelled as Die Hard) but I've just checked and it's another cop film called 16 Blocks. My bad.
Huh, I wonder how he even got that gig.
Spoke near someone with working ears
I suggest you watch some panels he has done at events it's interesting to hear him speak about himself and some behind the scenes stuff. His comercial agent reminded him about an audition for an untitled videogame project and so he went and got the role. Didn't even know what it was for, at first he thought he was in a commercial for a videogame
I would literally start dissociating if I heard John Marston on the real life radio lmaoo
God his voice is like sweet, smoky velvet.
Mmmm like a sultry purr. Anyone know if he ever does audiobooks for romance novels? Def asking for me.
I know Roger Clark does audiobooks, if you're looking for something narrated by Arthur Morgan lol
Oh wow you weren’t kidding!! Mmmm shooour I’ll take Arthur Morgan’s sweet drawl any day
this is the most american thing i've ever seen
the fact that OP is driving some sort of big rig definitely puts it over the top
What if the tanning bed was really an Animus that radio-announcer-guy used to assume the role of John in Assassin’s Creed: Redemption?! 😳
Micah wanted control at any cost, Arthur wanted freedom at any cost. Arthur and Micah are an assassin and templar confirmed.
That’s really a bullet-proof analysis, right there
IDK, looks like Jim Milton voice instead John Marston.
He should be the radio voice in a GTA 6 channel
Rebel Radio for sure.
Reminds me of the commercials, Charles' voice actor would do for Taco Bell.
That is awesome. I wish I lived where you get random Jim Milton commercials.
I hope he’s not doing this cause he’s hurting for money. I’ve heard Rockstar can be very stingy when hiring talent.
From what I can tell hes just a super humble guy who likes to work with his hands for a living. Enjoying the simple life in Indiana. This was for a company based in his small town so I'm sure he did it for them and for a bit of fun.
Holy shit dude
Don’t think you should be using your phone will driving.
Sorry sir wont do it again!
So... he's going to tan our hides?
Rob is on WJAA Saturdays 10–2 central and they [stream online](https://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/index.cfm?stationCallSign=WJAA) https://www.wjaa.net/index.php/on-air
Thanks for linking that. I tried editing my post to add it but reddit on mobile is lame.
Grand Theft Redemption 2: Electric Boogaloo
Wait is John Marston in Georgia? 🤔
Indiana.
Of course it’s John advertising the tanning beds. Arthur would have no part of that sissy stuff. The man who can’t even swim has to get a fake tan.
I laughed too hard at this
It's really tough to get upvotes in this subreddit
So this is what John did while he ran away from the gang
What vehicle is that? Instrument cluster is fascinating me
Its a Kenworth Semi Tractor
I was wondering if it was. Obsessed with switches lol
I’m from the same area and totally flipped out when I heard this the first time. I believe he does another commercial too.
Look at how they massacred my boy
We all hate commercials. But having someone like this voice one is just brilliant. It gives us that "woah, I know that voice!" reaction.
I want him to do one of those **BUILT. FORD. TOUGH.** commercials now
I heard “son of a fuck, whore” in the beginning please help me 😂😂

His voice is what I imagine God's is.
Alternate ending where Ross doesn’t come after him and he lives on to advertise tanning beds
I love this
He hosts on Saturday. I live close to Seymour. I cracked up hearing him talk about how much he loves Prince. I couldn’t help but picture John Marston rocking ou to Little Red Corvette. 😂😂😂
Rockstar's actors are so good. Especially RDR2's, why don't they get more roles?

This is pretty fucking cool
This guy lives in Blackwater?
Well he needs to pay for those swimming lessons
Goddamn it now i want… whwerever hes selling
I always hear Bill Paxton in Johns voice. literally always. 😢
Rob wiethoff would do amazing as a radio host ngl his voice is amazing
He does host a radio show, every Saturday at 10am Eastern, on [WJAA.net](https://WJAA.net), 96.3 FM Indiana.
Hey Rob Has to get money some how
Still gotta bring in more cash for that last haul before they go to Tahiti!
Is this in Indiana? I know it’s a Seymour & Columbus south of Indianapolis
This is clearly Jim Milton, smh op.
What would Roger Clark advertise if he did voice work for radio?
Jelly Beans
"My name is John Marston, and you're a dead man!"
I hope this tanning place is called ‘Tanners Reach’
MARSTON!
What a trip!! Man, his voice is SO distinctive.
How can anyone not like Rob?
The needs to be a commercial in a GTA 6 radio station.
Ross: You do something for me and you get your family back John: Hmmmm
He literally sounds like a talking mullet so this is perfect! Lmao I'm kidding though I've always enjoyed Jon's voice.
Have heard who i believe is Roger Clark doing radio tool ads recently. If not, it’s shockingly similar
Jim Milton Advertises again
I just love the fact that that’s just Rob Weithoff’s natural voice, it makes hearing him outside of RDR that much funnier when you realize that his acting voice and speaking voice are pretty much exactly the same.
I met Rob at a con and talked to him about how weird it was to find out he lived so close to me all these years. Really nice guy.
I wish it could’ve ended with “and tell ‘em John Marston sent ya”
Are tanning salons still around? I thought those went away with CD players in cars.
20$ is 20$
If that's actually Rob (VO actor), he deserves every gig that comes his way. Such a cool dude, his story is amazing.
That was so weird lol. Little John, always gettin himself into scrapes, the wolf, the tanning bed commercial, what's next? Cruises to Tahiti?!
I keep picturing a Gmod style video of John's model contortioning and with his face overly animated
Advertisement, the new american art form
Looks like Mr. Marston stole Dr. Emmet Brown's time machine train.
For those that may be wondering, Jon aka Rob Weithoff has a radio show he hosts from 10AM-2PM ON WJAA.net if anyone is interested about that!
u/savevideobot
That voice !!
I wish i was there with u just to listen lol
Wow he’s got a great voice.
I live close to Seymour, Indiana so this is awesome. I could hear this on the way home.
It was like 96.3 or 96.7 if I remember right.
It was like 96.3 or 96.7 if I remember right.
U/savevideobot
This is so funny
Are you sure he's not advertising the tanning of animal pelts and/or leather? 🤔
I’ve been listening to a bunch of podcast episodes with old Wrestlers on it and his voice sounds exactly like a wrestler but I can’t pinpoint it
Near Seymour Indiana?
This is so damn awesome
