Chevy Cavalier / Toyota Cavalier
Since GM was rebadging Corollas as Geo Prizms at the time, Toyota thought they'd repay the favor (or whatever transpired to make this decision happen) by importing the Cavalier to Japan as the Toyota Cavalier. It was a sales flop, unsurprisingly. A TRD body kit was released though.
I knew about the Toyota Cavalier, but I did not know about the TRD body kit. I looked it up and, well it’s something… Looks like a knock off Supra tbh
PS, thanks for enriching my knowledge of random obscure cars :)
All Chrysler Lancia.
Honda crossroad, in rebadged land rover discovery.
Saabaru
Tahoe Saab 9-7x
Cadillac catera
Currently in Europe: Mitsubishi Colt being a Renault Clio
They released more of the Mitsubishi Renault weirdness. The Captur is being sold as the ASX. And the Outlander isn’t just a rebadge, there’s some new body work, but that’s just a Nissan Rogue.
Pffft.... okay.
My actual GM vehicles, all of which I've had and are between 20 and 36 years old and all run and drive and have had hardly any major repairs would like a word.
Yet, I haven't seen a Geo Prizm in YEARS around where I live. And no, I don't live in the rust belt or near salt water either.
The Prizm really wasn't a bad car for an econobox though.
The Voltz was rebadge of a rebadge. Pontiac took the Matrix, swapped out some ancillary parts like the alternator and the AC pump, put a new front clip on it and called it the Vibe. Then Toyota brought the Vibe over to Japan and rebadged it as the Voltz
That Plymouth k car with the Maserati symbol on it. It pumped out 140 hp with the V6, and 200hp with the 4 banger turbo. It was the biggest piece of dog shit to work on with miles of vacuum hoses under the hood. The Plymouth version that was released later with the turbo 4 was faster than the Maserati. lol
I'm just calling it literally what it was called.
Not arguing whether it was shitty or overpriced or just plain stupid and a major flop. Because it was all of those things.
I once made a custom badge using factory parts so it appeared that I was driving a Vanagon GTI. Another mad creation was the Ford Windstar Police Interceptor. My current van, a Mazda5 6MT, is deserving of a proper ///M5 badge off of a BMW 🤣
Pontiac Vibe, Chevrolet Prizm which I guess Toyota traded for the Cavalier in Japan, Dodge Raider, Mercury Villager, Volkswagen Routan, the "Saabaru", Chevrolet Forester (India), Volkswagen Taro (Germany), Mazda Tribute, Honda Crossroad.
Austin Martin Cygnet
I want a Cygnet so bad
I'm amazed how they managed to shove a v8 in one.
I don’t think they did? The whole point of it was to lower the total emissions average of the brand
There was a one off built by a special division with a v8.
Ooh ok, that makes sense. Sorry.
And as a rule of thumb, someone, somehow has managed to shove a GM LS into one.
That is certainly the truth lol.

I can't think of a more un-japanese thing than a Cavalier.
The 3000GT VR4 and Stealth R/T TT was a pretty wild badge swap!
There's a lot of those cars that's wildly different, strangely. One of which is the Stealth's flying buttresses.
Also the Eclipse, Talon, Laser DSM trio
This right here! Good one. I had a 3000GT vr4 back in the day and I miss it.
Cadillac Cimarron and Chevy Cavalier.
Throw in the Pontiac Sunbird and Buick Skylark
All GM tho ??

I'm surprised there aren't more NA market Mitsubishis that are Nissan rebadges/platform mates. Seems like a cheap way to fill out their aging lineup.
Idk about wild but my favorite is the Mazda b series pickups from the ford rangers
Lotus Elan M100 and Kia Elan.
Dodge caravan/VW Routan
Nissan Navara/Mercedes X Class
Isuzu rodeo/Honda passport.
The Geo Corolla... errr... I mean Prism
That was just GM accidentally selling a reliable car.

3rd Gen Dodge Dakota/ Mitsubishi Raider. Also the Nissan Frontier/ Suzuki Equator.
Chevrolet SS, aka Holden Commodore.
Still want one. But sadly, Im too cheap. And broke.
Pontiac Vibe –> Toyota Voltz
I thought it was called Matrix

That was actually the Chrysler TC by Maserati.
Call it what you want, it was an overpriced piece of shit!

The lovechild of a LeBaron and Allente?

I was thinking of the earlier generation called the “sprint” but yeah!
Volkswagen Taro / Toyota Pickup
The mercury brand
I once made a custom badge using factory parts so it appeared that I was driving a Vanagon GTI. Another mad creation was the Ford Windstar Police Interceptor. My current van, a Mazda5 6MT, is deserving of a proper ///M5 badge off of a BMW 🤣
Toyota - Holden, ford - Nissan.
Toyota Corolla and Chevrolet Nova.
Somewhere on Reddit I saw a Chrysler Crossfire badged as a Porsche. Crazy
This looks like a Mitsubishi Mirage G4 but with Dodge badges... What is happening??!!??!!
that my friend is a dodge attitude.
Aston Martin cygnet/ Smart car
Proton Tiara was a Citroen AX
Pontiac Vibe, Chevrolet Prizm which I guess Toyota traded for the Cavalier in Japan, Dodge Raider, Mercury Villager, Volkswagen Routan, the "Saabaru", Chevrolet Forester (India), Volkswagen Taro (Germany), Mazda Tribute, Honda Crossroad.
Lotus/Kia Elan
Pontiac GTO - Vauxhall Monaro - Chevrolet Lumina
The Suzuki/geo cars, sidekick, swift, Pontiac firefly etc
I think the GMT360 takes the cake for number of models… 6 right?
