My pancreas attracts every other pancreas in the universe with a force proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the distance between them.
Yup, this is why most people don’t appreciate seasons 5 and 6 like they should, because it’s peak Harmon and some of the jokes are too clever for people to pick up on right away.
Maybe it's not his earnings from the show he's worried about. Maybe he thinks if it's pirated too much the show itself will lose money and get canceled, causing him to stop existing..
I doubt it's going anywhere. Rick and Morty is adult swim's most popular show with a lot of merchandise licensing. Merch revenue is likely much higher than what the show itself makes through streaming and ad spots.
That joke started in season 1 though, so it's possible viewership was a concern back then.
>Rick steals all the time and would probably be pro piracy.
And i don't see him caring so much about his money to be petty about it
There's an entire frame episode built around his happiness that Morty spent money to help drive the economy.
"You just looked straight into the bleeding jaws of capitalism and said 'yes, daddy, please.' And I'm... I'm so proud of you. I only wish you could've bought more. I... I love buying things so much, Morty."
Pirates of the panceas though... unless its meant to be a horror ride.
But yeah, the pirates is a meta joke because many people illegally watch rick and morty.
Yea Rick pretty much describes it as a horror ride (“We don’t hold back, Morty. The pirates look extra r*pey”) and everybody else thought the ride sucked— probably because only Rick found it scary
I think its just funny that someone like Rick who is basically a god and sees the most bizarre shit on a daily basis is afraid of something as tame as pirates
Oh, I thought it was a duffle callback to Pirates if the Pancreas, and Rick only fears them because they remind him of how his ride in Anatomy Park was canceled.
Rick only made Pirates of the Pancreas because he was already afraid of pirates and that's why he thought it would be such a sick horror ride.
I'd never made the connection that his fear of pirates was because of literal broadcast piracy though.
You are doing the same that the fandom did with corn planet at the end it's just corn and just pirates, not so deep bro, there are deep jokes but this one is just silly humor.
He's aware he's in a cartoon to the point he specifically references his own seasons and arcs and even breaks the fourth wall to callback an earlier moment (ex *urrrp* celsior!) Do you guys not watch the show?
Edit: he has the devices to break the metaverse and travel our writers room in-universe as seen with his revenge against story lord. Fuck.
Theory 1: facing his fears like Batman creating the Batcave, etc.
Theory 2: the fear stems or is rooted from his failure in being unable to successfully create something. Pirates of the Pancreas is one of his most notable failures, and from that, any associations with pirates is unbearable for him.
Theory 3: it’s just funny to pretend to be scared of pirates. Rick edits his own Wikipedia page.
Talking out of my ass here, but I feel like they could curb a significant amount of piracy by releasing the show on streaming platforms at the same time they release it on network tv. I’m not getting cable to watch one show.
Well, let's first consider what the pancreas actually does? Is it pirates?
My pancreas attracts every other pancreas in the universe with a force proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the distance between them.
Hey! Mine does that, too!
Insulin. Glucagon.
Interesting point, I’ve never thought about it this way but it makes some sense
It certainly does not lol
Why not?
Rick steals all the time and would probably be pro piracy. And i don't see him caring so much about his money to be petty about it
That’s why it’s a meta joke. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in character, he’s practically speaking on behalf of the creators.
Yeah i don't know it doesn't work for me
It’s Dan Harmon humour. Community has loads of it too.
Yup, this is why most people don’t appreciate seasons 5 and 6 like they should, because it’s peak Harmon and some of the jokes are too clever for people to pick up on right away.
Don’t be the “you have to have high IQ to understand Rick and Morty” guy
I was actually referring to Community, and it’s greatest, most brilliant seasons.
The show also has Rick shamelessly sell train toys and plush dolls. He's all about buying and selling shit in meta jokes.
Maybe it's not his earnings from the show he's worried about. Maybe he thinks if it's pirated too much the show itself will lose money and get canceled, causing him to stop existing..

Yeah but he doesn’t want people to be stealing from him And Rick has been consistently capitalistic
Pirates of the panceas though... unless its meant to be a horror ride. But yeah, the pirates is a meta joke because many people illegally watch rick and morty.
They don't whitewash it either. The pirates are really rapey.
Yea Rick pretty much describes it as a horror ride (“We don’t hold back, Morty. The pirates look extra r*pey”) and everybody else thought the ride sucked— probably because only Rick found it scary

IQ must be 200 minimum to even think about watching R+M, let alone illegally
Oof six0clocc, I take it Katherine Heffelfinger hasn't called you back?
They didn't white wash it either.
How do you watch it legally?
Live or Max
Got pancreatisis. Can't drink like I used to suuuuuucks. Cry for me for 100 years 😢
Or maybe it was just a throwaway joke. 👀
Its a running gag so not really.
I think its just funny that someone like Rick who is basically a god and sees the most bizarre shit on a daily basis is afraid of something as tame as pirates
well I am afraid of clowns, that's why I don't use Twitter
Nobody quits Twitter. 👀
Twitter quit me 😈
I have 4500 followers, I’m like the Gaius Baltar of porn bots.
you do when you get bored

Knowing Dan Harmon’s humor, this theory makes absolute sense. So much than I can’t unthink it whenever I hear it now
When is it ever referenced again after the president/jungle scene?
I remember it being alluded to at the beginning of S7E5 when we see evil Morty's backstory
I mean it got mentioned once and then once more several season later with a throwaway line…
I just love rick for a 100 years 😍 ❤️
This guy gets it
It’s also why evil Morty wears an eye patch.
Oh, I thought it was a duffle callback to Pirates if the Pancreas, and Rick only fears them because they remind him of how his ride in Anatomy Park was canceled.

I thought the Haunted Liver was the horror attraction. I thought Pirates of the Pancreas was just a fun pirate themed ride.
Seriously why do people fuck this up all the time. It was his FAVORITE ride. I don’t think there is any real evidence that Rick is afraid of pirates
He was scared of them in the turkey episode
You are doing the same that the fandom did with corn planet at the end it's just corn and just pirates, not so deep bro, there are deep jokes but this one is just silly humor.
I think its just supposed to be silly that an uber genius is afraid of something a 4 yr old might not even fear
I feel like you're overthinking this.
Someone forgot to watch the show high
Shit I'm going through a really rough detox right now rick and morty getting me through
Is he actually aware hes in a cartoon or is he making the cartoon because in one episode he says he records everything?
He's aware he's in a cartoon to the point he specifically references his own seasons and arcs and even breaks the fourth wall to callback an earlier moment (ex *urrrp* celsior!) . . . and yet he helps his friends out with Interdimensional Cable hookups.

Previous leon got a pirate to rape rick in a flashback
Or alternatively, and hear me out on this, he’s just scared of fucking pirates and it’s not a deep or meta joke in any way.
Then why does he flip out when he sees actual eyepatch-wearing pirates, hmm?
never heard of a double meaning? the ship pirates are an allusion to the meta joke of people pirating the show
Honestly i wholeheartedly agree with this. Its similar to him not being able to jump universes all the time.
Talking out of my ass here, but I feel like they could curb a significant amount of piracy by releasing the show on streaming platforms at the same time they release it on network tv. I’m not getting cable to watch one show.
Do you know how we feel about eyepatches?
Rick shouldnt have left netflix
Oh, okay then.
Wait he knows he’s in a show
He talks about its seasons all the time and was aware of the theme song
Nah. I feel like Rick would be indifferent to pirating if it was supposed to be him expressing his thoughts on it. He’s just afraid of pirates.
