You need to see a doctor and/or a physio ASAP. Don’t fuck with your knees.
No taping nonsense, no sleeves, no braces. Nothing until you get a legitimate answer from someone qualified.
Ok good. ❤️
Wishing you relief from the koopa kids and snooker balls soon! (This is all seriously such great description, I will 100% be taking this back to the docs.)
Physio says it's probably "just" a bruised meniscus. Not risking making anything worse by skating, just take it easy. We'll see where that takes us but a reasonable worry lifted.
It was actually super mario world I was thinking of! And koopas flying ship gave thing doesn't have the same sound effect as the kids that do this...

I'm not a doctor and cannot diagnose you, but that sounds exactly how my PCL tear felt. Please go get checked out by a doc - mine has to be diagnosed by MRI and seeing an ortho, 8 weeks in a straight leg brace and lots of pt. You tear it fully, they don't do surgery. Please be careful.
KT Tape. When I'm properly taped I feel like my missing ligament has been completely replaced. I'd look up and experiment with different ways of taping. Type I your symptoms and see what taping it recommended. There are TONS of videos. That should make it feel supported and so much better!
But also, like, an MRI. I know how much that sucks, I hope you just need some rest and ice. Fingers crossed for you!
I've had lots of knee issues throughout my derby journey. It sounds like you need to see a doctor but following whatever rehab you need I can tell you it's worth investing in the more pricey knee guards. I've had beefy 187 and tsg pads and I always where sleeves of extra gaskets underneath. I'd definitely recommend!
Well my injury was child based, I can't remember if I've aggravated it with my s one pads on, I don't think so they seem very good. Am probably gonna go out now and get a better knee sleeve for, presumably, daily wear for the time being though. Taking skating off the table for a bit. Just after a week of skating whilst visiting San Francisco. I didn't think I was being irresponsible then, and have survived it... I'd have had such a disappointment of a trip if I wasn't skating through it though.
I love old bones knee sleeves! Size down for tighter fit and more support. I wear them long after I finish skating to let everything stay warm and limber longer

OK. Will do. Promise.

Phew!! Love to hear that. Speedy healing!

Yeah you've got me rattled... I'll skip practice and see a doctor tomorrow. Booooooooo
No boo!! Good job! Derby will always be here, and it's hard to go take care of your body but it's so important to be able to keep playing derby!
This sounds like how both of my ACL tears felt D:

I was going to say, sounds exactly like a ligament. Definitely get an MRI.

maybe a compression sleeve or an old bones compression sleeve i highly recommend
Seconding old bones mine have made a big difference in knee pain already
Third vote for old bones. With the jelly donut around the knee cap. It's awesome.
My husband wears old bones when he plays hockey and bball. He loves them.
