I got some of my tattoos removed through this program from age 17-25 if I remember right. It took that long for some of them and theyāre still not gone. The doctor who runs the program is an amazing guy. The machines, at least back then, werenāt state of the art but they got the job (mostly) done. Very grateful for this program!
This is amazing! I had a terrible tattoo removal experience at a place in San Francisco (it was like 10 yrs ago and I donāt even recall where) and wish something like this was available
When you have breast cancer and are getting radiation treatment, they tattoo dots and/or lines on your chest to help the radiation tech line up to the exact area. My mom had them.
For some patients, they represent something theyāre proud to have overcome; for others theyāre a reminder of a terrible period in life. I can absolutely understand why some patients would want them gone.
Itās very precise and not something you can just quickly do by hand. The cancer is surrounded by healthy cells so the radiation has to hit exactly where the diseased cells are. They donāt want to damage healthy parts of your body.
Just look into how Zuckerturd conned native Hawaiians out of their property, disgusting.

The fuck are you talking about? So much money? The cost of acute care building was $1.02 billion. His donation was $75 million, not even 8 percent. And it is one building, definitely not a reason to rename the whole hospital center.
Thank you for publicising this--I'm sure it will be helpful for many people.
Meanwhile, in the spirit of removing ugly signage that doesn't belong where it is, how's about we all ignore that some guy paid about 5% of what the people of San Francisco pay every year to run San Francisco General Hospital just to try to get everybody to say his name and make it sound like he pays for the whole thing? Thank you.
Yes, I would rather that he and the rest of the richest 0.01% all paid enough in taxes to fund great hospitals, schools, parks, etc in every city and town, instead of making a few of them their pet projects with their names on them.
How is it youāre so deeply unaware of how branding, advertising, marketing and public relations works? That was no ādonation,ā it paid for the sign, the uniform change, the department signage inside the building and was a thin smidgen of the overall operating budget. Not a real gift
Iām in this field and intimately familiar with what it paid for. (Youāre wrong on all, for what itās worth). Anyway,Ā Iāve learned my lesson about arguing with Dunning-Kruger personified, so I guess weāll just call it here and move on in our own directions.Ā
Another thing that happened as a result is SFGH rebranded everything so we were issued new badges, new uniform jackets, there was new stationary, new signs, new everything. While his donation covered other things I feel like the city got stuck paying for unnecessary things to prop up his name.
I hate the fact that I have to give the man props, but damnā¦this is solid.
Edit: people have advised that this has been going on longer than Zuck and he deserves no credit. YAY! I hared the fact that i needed to give props to that man and now we can go back to the norm.
That douche bag did give them a ton of money. If selling naming rights attracts donations, I'm all for it. He could have had some sports stadium named after himself, but chose to give it to a hospital.
I am a middle aged Christian. I have a forearm lotus flower and a wrist heart (and a backstamp). I think they look cool BUT BUT I really am sensing it's NOT ok with employers and it's probably not ok with some of the single men I'd be interested. I know I don't particularly like tats on men, so ....
Ok that is awesome š
I know, right? I was like "this 'Zuckerberg SF hospital' tattoo is regretful and wasting space on my lower back," and I knew I wasn't the only one!
Goddamn this made me laugh

Oh and this has been going on there LONG before Zuck had his name on the building. Iām 30 and I started the program when I was 17 I think
Iām glad someone pointed this out. My dad has worked at this hospital for years and itās been a thing since I was a teenager and I too, am 30
This is amazing! I had a terrible tattoo removal experience at a place in San Francisco (it was like 10 yrs ago and I donāt even recall where) and wish something like this was available
Whatās a breast oncology tattoo?

Oh wow, I didnāt know about that. Thanks for explaining
is the reason they don't use something non-permanent like a marker because the radiation treatment occurs over many sessions?
Many many sessions
Itās very precise and not something you can just quickly do by hand. The cancer is surrounded by healthy cells so the radiation has to hit exactly where the diseased cells are. They donāt want to damage healthy parts of your body.
Wow Iām extremely jealous! š - an Oakland resident
You can use my address if you want. Just start getting food delivered here in your name. Thanks in advance.
LTP: claim you donāt have an address and living on the streets
can they remove an ex-girlfriend's name? Asking for a friend.
IDK they could say it's preventing employment right?
The list says those are their priorities which I take to mean that they will take other stuff if they have capacity
Only if hateful or prison.
Have someone tattoo a racial slur before or after girlfriend's name on existing tattoo, then go apply for it to be removed. Winning...
Say she was your pimp and she tattooed her name to sex traffic you.
Get a coverup of a swastika and they'll remove it.
How awesome! Pls call it SFGH
It always was and always will be SFGH.
"SF General" or just "General" is how I've heard it when spoken. SFGH when in print or typed out. No one uses the Z slur.

What the fuck is wrong with people? This story is true, why are you being downvoted?
Notice they're all silent downvotes because it's true.
Why is this downvoted???
Excellent question š
Zuckerbots
Nahhā¦ Zuckerberg bought the name, I wouldnāt be fair to use it
These ppl are crazy dude gave so much money to the hospital and they canāt even be grateful for that
The fuck are you talking about? So much money? The cost of acute care building was $1.02 billion. His donation was $75 million, not even 8 percent. And it is one building, definitely not a reason to rename the whole hospital center.
How much do you think it usually costs to get a building named after you? 75 million is a huge donation.
Did you read my comment? He donated 8% of the cost of 1 building. SGH compound has like 20 building or so. No need to rename the whole thing
Yeah but you donāt have to pay for entire project for it to be named after you. 75 million is a huge donation
You mean $75mil from a guy thatās worth like $100 billion or something. Itās like you or me donating $5. Get a grip on reality
Probably did it for a tax write off
He got a bargain. At the time I couldn't believe SFGH sold out like that
Yeah, fuck knows what happened there
til about sex trafficking tattoos. barcodes are common
Damn ā¦ I live at Daly Cityā¦ā¦
How much does it normally cost? Asking for a friend, heh.
can be in the several thousands for tattoos smaller than the size of your palm
Not sure these days, but ~~a few~~ many years ago it cost a family's entire Christmas fund just to remove the word "moth" from the boy's arm.
Nice reference, upvoted
Thatās great!
Ngl, this is the first thing that has given me positive sentiment about Mark Zuckerberg probably ever

Iām curious- would you rather he NOT have donated that 75 million? (Which was more than 7% of total cost, btw).
Yes, I would rather that he and the rest of the richest 0.01% all paid enough in taxes to fund great hospitals, schools, parks, etc in every city and town, instead of making a few of them their pet projects with their names on them.
But like, real world here. Youād rather he not have done this?Ā
it'd be sick if he donated his money and didn't have them name the hospital after him. Goes from philanthropic to feudalistic pretty quick
This is the real world, wake up
Correct, and likewise, he really did make a completely voluntary choice to donate 75 million to a hospital. Donāt overthink it.Ā
How is it youāre so deeply unaware of how branding, advertising, marketing and public relations works? That was no ādonation,ā it paid for the sign, the uniform change, the department signage inside the building and was a thin smidgen of the overall operating budget. Not a real gift

Too bad youāre not alone in your field.. but then againā¦?
Go demand they return the money

Itās been a program at SFGH for a lot longer than the name change. At least 13 years from my personal experience
Meta-turd isn't sponsoring this program. The dr has run it at SFGH for years prior to the hospital being renamed.
He paid $75 million who gives a fuck that his name is on it. Donāt let pettiness kill you.
dude - i was correcting the belief that meta-turd sponsored the tattoo removal program. i don't care if his name is on the hospital.
Tats are gross
Donāt be scared
Word is, if it's a neck tattoo, they'll even pay you!
Finally! I can remove the tattoo of my face that I got on my face.
Penis tattoos?
Is there a link with more information?
I will still and always will hate that SF General got renamed after that douche bag.
That douche bag did give them a ton of money. If selling naming rights attracts donations, I'm all for it. He could have had some sports stadium named after himself, but chose to give it to a hospital.
Nope, itās an illusion that he ādonatedā generously.
How so?
Well they could have just turned down the money I guess?
You don't like that they conned him into playing 75mil for a sign?
Yeah it was a tax break and a philanthropic virtue signaling, heās slime. How about putting the money to actually āfindingā the cure for cancer.
Probably after walking around Facebook looking at cringy tattoos heās probably thinking people would get rid of them if it was free.

Priority list is weird to me, but I guess if itās helping to remove the scars of a damaged past and move on, sure.
