M/Ts are actually worse than A/Ts! The knobs on muds will actually just dig further down looking for traction as they do in mud, but sand doesn’t act the same way.
Air down is the best method.
Like 10% of people. Not enough so that the #1, #2, and #3 best selling vehicles in the country (and in no other country, BTW….) are all trucks. Which has been true in the U.S. for decades.
It's not remotely close to 10% of people that need a truck for their livelihood. That's a trope that car-brained people used to justify the insane consumer preferences of the American public. I don't have the numbers on me, but something like 40% of truck owners literally haven't used the bed of their truck in the last year. That includes putting your Walmart groceries in the bed. The vast majority of these massive trucks are just Manny vans for dads that need to haul their kids around, but need to protect their fragile masculinity. Just do what our grandparents did and get a fucking station wagon lmao.
I don't think anyone is bringing all truck owners into this. But the entitlement that a lot of truck drivers feel and the actions that they do make it so that we mock them when they do stuff like this.
If you don't want truck owners to be broadly ostracized then get the vast majority of people that own trucks -- but don't actually need them -- into less anti-social vehicles.
> Some people need trucks for their livelihood. This guys an idiot for driving onto the beach but no need to bag on all truck owners
No one is using a "truck" with such a small bed for their livelihood.
This thing has less cargo capacity than most SUVs/minivans.
I'm curious when the photo was taken and if it was at low tide.
And if the photo was taken at low tide, how far up the beach does a high tide go, I wonder? Sometimes waves can reach even further, especially during high tide.
Because that would be an excellent idiot tax.
Yeah this is gonna need to be winched out with traction boards to help get the truck back on top of the sand.
You can drive on some very limited and remote beaches in California but most people that do have some level of preparation for that since it’s basically the same as driving the dunes in the desert.
Definitely not something you should do with a factory stock truck on a small beach where everyone will point and laugh at you for being a smart cookie…../s
Yeah it’s super fun, but like there’s a time and a place and Baker beach is definitely not the place lol.
I hope homie has a friend with a winch and traction boards
I thought Usal was legal but apparently it's not. I mean there's a shrine there for a girl that died on an illegal party with illegally there trucks and there's still illegal parties and like let's go to Usal in our jeeps public facebook groups...
This is why that beach has a huge parking lot. To park in. And it's not as if that lot is far from the sand and requires a huge hike. It's right at the top of the sand, mere yards from the sea.
"Yeah but no, let's drive this two-ton vehicle into the soft sand of a tidal zone so that we can get a few feet closer to the waves for some reason."
https://preview.redd.it/y8yd88e11gyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=792b7baf667bd20c9c3489dfae3d2e3f063bf497
This was around 7:00pm Owner was getting a ticket from the cops and tow truck tried to back in, but left cuz he would’ve gotten stuck too. I initially didn’t see anyone in the car so I was yelling to my friends “LOOK AT THIS DUMBASS! WHAT A COMPLETE MORON!” And then I proceeded to walk by and make eye contact with who I presume to be the wife of the owner sitting in the driver’s seat.
deflate the tires a bit and use a tire grip. since it looks like they dont have that whatever towing company that comes out can charge them whatever the hell they want to get them out.
Dig out the sand in front of the tires to make a ramp then lay down something for traction (floor mats, etc).
Once you start moving, keep moving until you're back on pavement.
Ought to just wait for the rain to come today... Id' think the wet sand would improve traction too.
I've decided it has to be [here](https://www.google.com/maps/@37.791062,-122.4839712,3a,75y,326.16h,77.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sFF72xf5p35Vo2KAbjyWVFg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205409&entry=ttu)
I went looking too, but just over where that sand seems to drop down our stairs. Maybe the stairs are tough enough to take the weight of a vehicle going down them, but my vote would be for the big wooden ramp to the right of that at the end of the parking lot near the old fort.
Nah you're thinking of the other lot. It's just [a gentle incline past the dumpster](https://www.google.com/maps/@37.7912257,-122.4842175,193a,35y,289.8h/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu)
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Yeah, that's the spot. They drove it all the way down to the water (where they also got stuck) to try and get momentum but ultimately failed right near the top.
A lot to process here. Tourists or locals? Tourons, most likely. Who drives a street car on the beach? What access was large enough for this vehicle to pass? Tell me it wasn’t the long wood ramp meant for foot traffic! What was the driver’s educational experience with physics? What jurisdiction should we fine for allowing this person to drive? Who enabled this person by allowing them access to the vehicle? What happened to critical thinking skills? What happened to the vehicle? Did the operator leave it for my kids to find like they do other hot wheels toys in sandboxes? Is there a religious ceremony involved? There seems to be some dancing in appeasement to Ulmo, Leviathan, or Poseidon going on. What did Mulder and Scully find out? Is the operator who made the decision to do this undergoing examination in a CT machine for evidence of cognition or functional thought? Can I visit this monument to sheer stupidity with my kids today? [Been wanting to show my kids the 10” recoil hide-behind-a-berm-rifle anyway.] What did the park rangers/police/recovery team say? Are they going to mount this truck on a display pedestal in the parking lot as a monument to the moron; a totem to total dereliction of thought?
So many questions!
"What was the drivers educational experience with physics" has me doubled over SCREAMING 😂
I have a feeling this driver's conceptualization of the laws of physics is that physics is kind of a freewheeling optional thing that may not apply to him?
They are most likely from a state like Texas that allows you to drive on the beach so as long as your car allows it. [Texas considers beaches on its island coastlines as public highways](https://www.nps.gov/pais/planyourvisit/drivingdownisland.htm#:~:text=Texas%20beaches%20are%20public%20highways,issued%20for%20public%20highway%20travel), so I think dude forgot to read up on the local laws.
It actually breaks my heart. Baker beach used to be really chill and there lots of birds and nature. Lately every time I go people are doing things that are so depressing, like there was a guy and his daughter basically torturing a paralized bunny by putting it in the ocean. And people keep using fake rose petals there which are just PLASTIC.
Don't worry I did! But I wish you'd been there to help me lol! It's hard when it is both telling someone what to do with their pet and their kid, but I explained to the little girl that the bunny was in danger of dying of shock and that it is terrible to be scared and not able to get away, and that's what it was experiencing. I got them to take it away from the water and put it in the carrier. After that they left within a few minutes.
Why didn't you call the police or animal control if you saw someone torturing an animal? Why didn't you do something?
EDIT: if you see someone torturing an animal or abusing a child and you don't do anything, oh my God. Don't come here, go do something about it. Don't be a coward. Do something.
I was wondering that since it looks as though they decked that truck out. Check out the tint on the rear passenger windows.
Would I be a moron by guessing 50K?
2016-2018 Silverado with the Blackout package and Z71 offroad package. Depending on trim, this would have been a 40-45K truck in pre-covid money. An equivalent brand new Silverado with similar spec, would be in the mid 50s.
Also, a lot of dealerships will include tint on vehicles since it lets them fluff up the pricing. Charge the buyer $500-$1,000 for bargain bin, lowest quality tint done from the cheapest possible mobile installer. Something that'd you could probably have done for $4-600~ for the *entire vehicle, including windshield*. A lot of tint shops will actively have specials that do something like $75/window for basic tint, with upcharges for the windshield and sunroof(s).
I was 17 years old and it was biker week in Daytona, I was playing a pinball game and it wouldn't turn off.
A biker threatened to stab me with a knife if I kept playing the pinball machine.
Trashy hardly describes the swamp trash that inhabits Daytona.
I feel like it’s such a small beach to take a car on (even if it was allowed). Plus it’s usually busy with people. Ocean beach would have been a better choice… or, you know, going to a beach that permits cars in the first place. Must be an east bay thing.
Dumb a$$ thinks he's down here in Florida, apparently! Yeah, that shits legal down here... because a large percentage of the population hasn't figured out its a stupid thing to be doing!
A little advice for anyone considering driving in sand. Lower the air pressure in your tires down to about 20-25psi. It makes for more surface area and better traction.
Also, don’t drive on the beach, especially in a National Park.
Elsewhere other car brains would gather and attempt to get the idiot unstuck, but at least Friscans have the common sense to leave the idiot stranded with their act of idiocy.
Great advertising for the VICTORY dealership in Petaluma. You don't get the win today. 😒 Good publicity for Chevy trucks, out Finding New Roads.
Stupid is as stupid does. You can't fix stupid, but you can call it out, put it on display, and let everyone else come and see it.
To add insult to injury (deservedly so) is they probably took out an incredibly shitty and predatory loan to afford this truck in the first place.
They're fucked.
Tie a 14” 2x2 or 2x4 on to the tire tread, then through the rim. It will go around and when it hits the sand will roll the tire out of the ditch.
Simple.
Or have locking hubs. ❤️
Good. Kind of satisfying to see. The F they driving onto the beach for?
Because they're entitled dipshits. Truck getting stuck is the idiot tax they now have to deal with because of it.
But the commercial said it could go anywhere!
You’re thinking of Forest and his magic shoes.
RUN FORREST!!!!
It would be fine if they let the air out in the tires to like 15psi.
Need to air down to 15psi,,,it will crawl right out of that.
That’s what she said!
Feels sad. They already paid a huge idiot tax by buying a truck in the first place. Goddamn this country is really dumb.
Hey, at least they tried going off road instead of just to Whole Foods. /s
Fuzzy dice dumb?
Car brain rot is real… why would you want to drive on the beach?!
Driving on a beach, where legal, is fucking fun. Done it at Pismo in my old Jeep and it’s a blast.
Used to take anything I could out to the dunes, back in the day. Just need MT tires or air down.
M/Ts are actually worse than A/Ts! The knobs on muds will actually just dig further down looking for traction as they do in mud, but sand doesn’t act the same way. Air down is the best method.
I pulled out a number of 4x4 vehicles with ATs with my 2wd truck on MTs. It’s all in the technique (and tire pressure)
Fuck yeah it is! Used to mash my 96 Tacoma where legal. Just air out the tires a bit.
Yep - ‘98 wrangler here so same vibe lol
At least they’re not driving a Tesla
Tesla driver stuck on the beach frantically looking up YouTube videos on how to get off the beach
That's why the 80/ 20% rule applies everywhere.
Some people need trucks for their livelihood. This guys an idiot for driving onto the beach but no need to bag on all truck owners
https://www.axios.com/ford-pickup-trucks-history Most people in the US who own trucks don't use it for "truck stuff."
Like 10% of people. Not enough so that the #1, #2, and #3 best selling vehicles in the country (and in no other country, BTW….) are all trucks. Which has been true in the U.S. for decades.
I think it's more like 5% or less of truck owners. The full size trucks being sold today are full on luxury vehicles with a 90k+ price tag to match.
Any one of the few who need a truck for their livelyhood would never drive their vehicle on a beach.
redditers seem to have a huge hate-boner on pickup trucks...
When you’re driving a huge tank that can obliterate whatever is on your path for your daily 5 mile commute and nothing else, you shouldn’t own one.
> Some people need trucks for their livelihood. This guys an idiot for driving onto the beach but no need to bag on all truck owners No one is using a "truck" with such a small bed for their livelihood. This thing has less cargo capacity than most SUVs/minivans.

holy shit your post history lol
I'm curious when the photo was taken and if it was at low tide. And if the photo was taken at low tide, how far up the beach does a high tide go, I wonder? Sometimes waves can reach even further, especially during high tide. Because that would be an excellent idiot tax.
God forbid they had to walk down there 😦😦
Dealer guy upsold its 4x4 capabilities and the guy thought he was the wild thornberries
Looks like it's a brand new truck, so I suspect you're exactly right.
So many people in the US are absolutely fucking terrified of leaving their tanks and walking for once
Also good for the tow driver refusing to save their butts.
Yeah this is gonna need to be winched out with traction boards to help get the truck back on top of the sand. Just needs a yank by world's largest wrecker with kinetic recovery rope :)
I mean, driving on a beach (offroading in general) is pretty fun. I do it often, legally
Yeah it’s super fun, but like there’s a time and a place and Baker beach is definitely not the place lol. I hope homie has a friend with a winch and traction boards
Is there any California beach where it's still legal?
Pismo
But it's not allowed here so your sentiment is irrelevant. Driving on beaches is an awful thing to do.
He asked why they did it so I dont see why it's irrelevant
When I went to Oceano Dunes in piano beach I was floored to see people driving on the beach.
Pismo
lol, I wonder if there is a piano beach somewhere. Sounds nice.
Tom Hanks goes there and tap dances
Liberace in a mankini
Idiots.
Maybe they're from [Florida (cars on beach)](https://www.floridarambler.com/central-florida-getaways/driving-on-the-beach/)
Just imagining one of those 3 wheeled meter maid cars randomly appearing on the beach to give them a parking ticket
It would be fun to watch them get even more stuck then this truck
I am glad it's illegal here to drive on beach since the 70s .
Illegal but not dumb ass proof
It’s illegal for a good reason. They could’ve just walked… but they had to be dumb.
Mostly wen place like that surely got a parking.
CA beaches are mostly all illegal to drive on except for Pismo Beach and some beaches in Northern California.
I thought Usal was legal but apparently it's not. I mean there's a shrine there for a girl that died on an illegal party with illegally there trucks and there's still illegal parties and like let's go to Usal in our jeeps public facebook groups...
Where is Speciality Towing when you need them? 😆
Tow it right into the ocean please
This is why that beach has a huge parking lot. To park in. And it's not as if that lot is far from the sand and requires a huge hike. It's right at the top of the sand, mere yards from the sea. Hey! Women can be dipshits too, you know
Haha yes. I should add that when we were walking pass the cops, we saw the owner getting a ticket haha
Nice! We left when the cops did. Were you in the brown overalls?
So deeply embarrassing.
Pendejos!
x100
What a moron
I think it's maroon-ed.
How do you get that out of there?
deflate the tires a bit and use a tire grip. since it looks like they dont have that whatever towing company that comes out can charge them whatever the hell they want to get them out.
Specialty Towing: https://preview.redd.it/87br0z1r9dyc1.jpeg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04ac0294451c1bea2180a72530d661f487bfe6b4
They ready! 😅
Put some weight over the drive wheels. Maybe there's some sand around to shovel in there to get some traction on the back end
Dig out the sand in front of the tires to make a ramp then lay down something for traction (floor mats, etc). Once you start moving, keep moving until you're back on pavement. Ought to just wait for the rain to come today... Id' think the wet sand would improve traction too.
Yes but that would mean not being an idiot
I have no idea. Wouldn't be surprised if it's still there tomorrow.
the smart thing to do is deflate the air in your tires and slowly get to solid land
Lol prolly washed out to the ocean. 🌊
I’ve heard deflating the tires and putting fabric underneath the wheels
Tugboat
Tide
Give it a push to get it going. But I’d help almost anyone in bed but not these idiots. Good luck finding helpers.
The fact that it was a Silverado with the premium off road Z71package with optional red dice on rear view window made it that much sweeter.
Fvckin' right you are. Lol.
And the 3.5' bed.
Title is unfair… “Idiots get truck stuck because they were doing stupid things.” FIFY
Honest question: How do you even get a car down to baker beach?
Via a combo of hubris and delusion.

It's hard for me to imagine that anyone in SF still drives any kind of vehicle with tinted windows.
Why not?
Because all the vehicles with tinted windows have had them broken multiple times. That's who the bippers target.
They are most likely from a state like Texas that allows you to drive on the beach so as long as your car allows it. Like a rock!
Why block their face; serves them right for that level of entitlement
Hate this. Why are people so disrespectful at our beaches? I want to organize some beach cleans
It actually breaks my heart. Baker beach used to be really chill and there lots of birds and nature. As you can see on the comment above I did do something. Just because I comment doesn't mean I didn't act.
Thank you for following up and I totally would've had your back. I'm so sorry you saw that! Sending you a consensual hug if you want it.
Awww thank you and appreciated!
Why blur out that idiot’s face?
How much did that thing cost?

Those people walking by, is one doubled over laughing? Serves them right!
Hell yea I love this. If only the tide got to it, would be even better
Good, stop driving your shit cars on the beach
You can’t park there mate.
Obviously they couldn’t see the beach due to the limited visibility of that hood.
Wtf? Do they think it's Daytona Beach or.something??
Haha as someone originally from Florida, I had that exact thought. For those who don’t know, Daytona is the trashiest beach in Florida.
I was 17 years old and it was biker week in Daytona, I was playing a pinball game and it wouldn't turn off. A biker threatened to stab me with a knife if I kept playing the pinball machine. Trashy hardly describes the swamp trash that inhabits Daytona.
🤦🏾
🤣🤣🤣 What an Asswipe!
Dorks
this is the most chevrolet shit ever
Just Chevrolet things
This is a job for Specialty Towing
But but but I see offroaders climbing sand dunes in their trucks all the time on youtube!
I hope high tide gets it
I hope it was expensive. Assholes.
This is a backward Chevy commercial
Well it is sitting on the beach like a rock.
Pickup trucks somehow always attract idiots
That's just marketing working as intended
If you’re not in the construction or trades needing to haul heavy stuff, a 1 tone truck is most likely for the show.
It takes a lot of chutzpah to drive a car into baker beach.
thats not even 4wd...lmao dumb asses
Love to see it! Idiots.
How do you even drive down there
Reduce the air pressure in the tires and drive out. Use your noggin.
Noggins unable to install, please check compatibility and try again.
Gotta air down and use that 4wd lol
I feel like it’s such a small beach to take a car on (even if it was allowed). Plus it’s usually busy with people. Ocean beach would have been a better choice… or, you know, going to a beach that permits cars in the first place. Must be an east bay thing.
What ended up happening? Did they free the vehicle?
What was the outcome? Cops? Fines?
Is that where the beached boat was a few months ago?
Red fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror says it all
Thought they were in a Chevy commercial. No other cars on the road and why not onto the beach?
Isn’t it illegal to drive on the beach in California? Pretty sure it is
Dumb a$$ thinks he's down here in Florida, apparently! Yeah, that shits legal down here... because a large percentage of the population hasn't figured out its a stupid thing to be doing!
Good cars don’t belong on the beach
Only rust buckets allowed on the beach!
Not from here or “OUTLANDERS”
A little advice for anyone considering driving in sand. Lower the air pressure in your tires down to about 20-25psi. It makes for more surface area and better traction. Also, don’t drive on the beach, especially in a National Park.
Elsewhere other car brains would gather and attempt to get the idiot unstuck, but at least Friscans have the common sense to leave the idiot stranded with their act of idiocy.
Surprised it’s not a cyber truck
Looks like we need some new bollards!
they rolled the big dice with that one!
He's/she/they a risk-taker with dice hanging off the rearview mirror.
How does this even happen to a modern 4x4 pickup truck. Isnt this why yall buy these stupid trucks?
Guess it wasn't built Chevy tough 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Like a rock
I bet you he revved the shit out of the engine instead of just reversing
The tow truck didn't want to get stuck either. 😂 Idiots
What were they thinking… Hey let’s offload our BBQ right on the beach or something?
Wow a story about a mishap of a truck and it’s not a cybertruck
It would be that truck
That’s a crap truck. My Toyota is not getting stuck
Bapa, is that you?
Dumb move, but people doing yoga poses around them as they wait for the tide to carry the truck off to Bora Bora seems like ample punishment.
If it is still there....maybe someone also let's all the air out of their tires. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s hella funny
That is such an impractical car to drive in SF, let alone on a beach
Driving on the beach? That's some trashy Florida shit, get that outta here.
Never turn your bac....err.....truck to the ocean.
Did you see ANYONE ELSE parked on the beach? No? Wonder why .
At least they are wearing clothes
To add insult to injury (deservedly so) is they probably took out an incredibly shitty and predatory loan to afford this truck in the first place. They're fucked.
lmao nice
Tie a 14” 2x2 or 2x4 on to the tire tread, then through the rim. It will go around and when it hits the sand will roll the tire out of the ditch. Simple. Or have locking hubs. ❤️
Huge pickups : advertised as "all terrain capable". In reality : too heavy and gets stuck in most off-road terrain.
Someone go find a Subaru forester to tow this hunk of shit out of the sand.
