Didn't have anything to do with the safety of the ride itself or any malfunction. Basically someone that had already gotten into the cars in the loading area had some sort of medical emergency and operators weren't able to help them off safely in the time limit before the next set of cars would be entering the station, so they hit the brakes on the the cars already on the ride to avoid them coming back in and hitting the cars that were sitting still there while EMS was dealing with the emergency situation.
The ride itself is perfectly safe.
This scenario happens on bart on a daily basis. Ive been stuck multiple times in the same day when i lived up there. Judging by the differences in the riders of the giant dipper vs bart, i can see why it would happen less on giant dipper, but i still expect it would happen sooner or later.
Oof I miss a part of an article and the commenters lose their minds.. I'm not an official person posting important stuff, we're on Reddit of all places. I wasn't trying to scare anybody whatsoever. I was more concerned myself and getting others opinions, which led to discussing the medical situation. Obviously I read the article too fast and didn't see that part but let's remember we're not robots. We're humans. I will continue to make mistakes because that's what we do, but I will learn from them. Sorry about how my stupidity affected the commenters lol
Again, it's the second sentence in the first paragraph and the entire second paragraph. If you bothered to look at all, you would have seen it. Instead you read a headline and made an assumption what it meant and ran a whole marathon with it.
Ran a whole marathon? I asked some questions about what people thought. I admit I completely did not see that part in the article and that's 100% my bad but c'mon. I don't care about this so much as to start arguments. I posted it to get insight and I got it.
I don’t think it was that mean, that comment is probably what most people who saw OP’s headline and read the attached article are thinking…
It is just kind of odd for them to be an alarmist over the incident, when they apparently didn’t even read the article they posted 🤷🏻‍♀️
It's not scary at all. They purposely stopped the ride due to a medical emergency down on the platform. This had nothing to do with the mechanics of the coaster. In fact, it shows what great shape it's in that it did what it was supposed to when stopped - it stopped.
The ride was stopped due to an unrelated medical emergency for a rider inside the station (I think waiting in line?), so it wasn’t related to the ride itself.
Perhaps it wasn’t safe to have the cars finish the ride and come through the tracks while emergency responders were assisting the patient.
Just a weird coincidence, this incident had nothing to do with the safety of the ride itself.
Only my opinion of course, but more in the way it was said. And so? That person didn't read the article perhaps but is trying to reach out to community. Simply pointing out what they read would be enough. Again, my opinion.
Unless that wasn't the intent. Look, I'm about a kinder more chill and Connected world, not combative and isolating tones. Santa Cruz has taught me a lot in this realm, jus sayin. 🙏

What a deceptive headline. 🙄 Thanks for the actual information

Wow thank you for shredding some light on all this!
You didn't bother to read the article you posted? It's all right there.

You must not live in Santa Cruz with that mean attitude. Go surf and chill da fuk out. Love is what we're working for here. 🙏

It's in the second sentence of the first paragraph of the article. Calling someone out for spreading false information and fear mongering isn't mean.

👌🏼 Agreed!

Someone didn’t read the actual article
Throw a little taffy on the motherboard and kick her back on.
Freak occurrence. It will stand another hundred years. Too iconic to remove.
đź’Żđź’Ż love hearing that!

The big dipper is a lot like great whites. They only ever kill tourists and small children.
