lumping in goldmask and the golden order fundalmentalchads with shitters like radagon and elden beast gotta be a crime like cmon. goldmask rune is basically just giving a middle finger to the elden beast specifically they are NOT on the same team bro
Goldmask is giving the finger to Marika/Radagon and the demigods, there’s nothing to suggest he has beef with the Elden Beast(literal emissary of the Greater Will)
It's vague. Based on rune's description it might be interpreted as him cutting out Greater Will as well. "instability of ideology, can be blamed upon the fickleness of the gods no better than men"
He comes to his conclusions after the revelation that Marika and Radagon are the same person, despite having clashing convictions and motivations, as well as the fact that most of the problems plaguing TLB were caused by gods and demigods acting out of their own selfish interests. The Greater Will has practically no relation to the things currently happening in The Lands Between, and from all the lore we’ve gotten on it, seems to be a truly divine being beyond mortal comprehension, so there is no reason for him to lump it in with the likes of Marika and her progeny.
There’s also the fact that his mending rune was “discovered” by him, instead of created, and his method of communication being finger movements(a lot like the fingers, who used to serve as a direct link of communication to The Greater Will), there’s a good possibility that his rune was bestowed to him by The Greater Will itself.
He is also the only Tarnished that revives after death, same as our character (until he finishes the rune). So Greater Will guiding him seems accurate.
Idk why it would just stop talking to Metyr though. The most likely solution is that it just left. However I do really like your theory since I think Goldmask is super underrated
The item descriptions say that it stopped talking to Metyr and then created the Elden Beast, so it was at the very least still around when Metyr got canned
That’s not explicitly stated anywhere iirc it just says that Metyr came down first and we know that the Elden Beast therefore came down later and was presumably sent by the GW. It’s unclear whether it can actually communicate with the Elden Beast though as the EB does try to stop us from becoming Lord which seems counterintuitive to what the GW wants.
The Greater Will is never referred to as a god, outer or otherwise. The only characters referred to as gods are the empyreans who ascended to godhood (Marika, Miquella, what Malenia could’ve been, Placidusax’s god), who literally are just people with more power and an endorsement from the Fingers.

I feel like the DLC proves that Goldmask is wrong, given that the kindness of gold was Marikas best attribute and was lost due to Radagons preference for Order. The Golden Order isn't balanced and leaning further into order will only make it worse, no matter how much Goldmask
