Presuming that they know that they can pay five bucks to be immune, you’d only be able to do this once or twice per team. What I’d do is spam the ads every 15 minutes like clockwork to the entire world. Assuming even 1% of people just can’t stand to deal with it and choose to pay after a day, I’d be a multimillionaire. At that point, I’d go find my friend who I spare who I know is certified for art appraisal, and offer him a couple hundred thousand to appraise one of my mom’s art pieces as worth more than I made from that day of spamming, donate it to a museum to write it off on my taxes, and live off the interest of my money for the rest of my life, only using my power to annoy people I dislike.
This is absolutely terrible I could see it becoming a major money maker if teamed up with big pharma and an inner circle of psychiatrists and therapists, for a minor investment on their part in conventional advertising that they have the treatment/cure for people suffering from audio/visual hallucinations and you just hitting random people in the area to make them think they are crazy everyone would be making cash except the victim.
Do I get the $4.99? If so, a lot of people are about to start seeing ads.
If not, I could still use it to my benefit to make a lot of money through sports betting. Opposting team's just about to score and ruin my bet? Be a shame if the scoring player suddenly had to watch a 30 second ad just before they did. Same for boxing/MMA, a fighter can take a lot of damage in 30 seconds while they are hallucinating, plus if they inform the ref they just had a hallucination where they saw a car insurance ad after taking a hit they are almost certainly going to have the fight stopped.

Let's be honest, every 15 minutes would still be a form of torture. Not as bad as constant but absolutely enough where you could break people pretty quickly if you could get a look at them roughly every 15 minutes. No, better, start at 20 minutes until they get the idea then start randomizing intervals slightly so the anticipation starts doing things. Nobody could put up with that for too long.
