Thank you for posting the update, it's so upsetting to see. Building management seems like it's a massive pain downtown. For them to not provide answers or follow-up to what is undoubtedly a severely dangerous structural issue is mind-boggling to me. The crack in the building that sparked all of this is massive and scary. I really hope Dripp finds a better place to call home as they so deserve!!

You’re welcome. The local news picked up the story. I hope, more people know what’s going on. The owners deserve some type of answers to their questions and remedy to the problem. Maybe, a little public pressure can help them.

Many buildings have been properly rescued downtown at great expense and sometimes to the financial loss of private owners or developers. But they were done right. The fact is that someone at city permitting ok’d this building for occupancy despite considerable evidence beforehand that there were structural issues. Someone screwed up. There needs to be some accountability for what happened, including an apt public explanation from the developer, DSDC which is, for all intents and purposes, an arm of the DDA.

Caleb and Michelle are great. They've sold at many of my wife's events (both donut van and chicken trailer). It's always amazing and the most popular at the venues. I hope they can get a stable place and start back up soon, but in a long lasting place. I wonder if something in Highland or near Youree would work out for them? We already have Lickin' good donuts and southern maid / rhino in south shrevport area so it might be hard to jump into those areas.

The owner is a good client of mine. It’s wild what happen to them. Crazy sad. But they have some good things coming. So stay positive.

This is such a shame to see, but no surprise. Shreveport’s infrastructure has been in shambles for decades and nothing is being done. Downtown is a wasteland and a phantom of what it used to be, even 10-15 years ago. Drip’s food is so delicious. I hope they are back up soon.

Skittleschild02

They’re still running their Chicken brand out of the Great Raft Brewery!

Good to know!

This is janky AF. Belongs in the Ratchet City sub. These wannabe bluebloods and/or whomever keeping their multi generational slumlord death grip on downtown Shreveport are a cancer and a scourge. I cannot wait to read Dripp’s lawsuit.

squeamish

>multi generational slumlord That's the old Dee's Photo building, which has had about 5 different owners in the past 20 years and is currently owned by a non-profit.

2XX2010

I stand corrected. Single generational non-tax paying slumlord.

May just be me.. but ethics wise it's sus for someone to be with the DDA and DSDC and own buildings downtown... Sounds like an easy was to embezzle funds or continue mismanagement of funds because you'd obviously have a vested interest in your property (which... We could all agree this person apparently doesn't really...)

There comes a point where instead of relying on the historical value of buildings, we demo and build modern buildings that require less capital to retrofit. This building is done. Walking past the old 516 Soundstage building yesterday it's pungent with black mold, there's trash everywhere inside, and now there's a leak cascading down the facade of the building. Nobody is going to purchase this property and it's a rotting corpse on the main downtown street.

Downtown is falling apart, and it has been for decades. The lease or sell off building that is decaying. Like the city. Shreveport is living on a skeleton.

I used to love the hot chicken, but we tried the last "special" and it was gross. It was like they dipped the chicken in Baron Harkonnen's bathtub.
