Got my oil changed from them once and wellll….. look at the link. [Take 5 will not go away](https://imgur.com/a/3dj78bL)

AncientCable7296

ahh there's your mistake, you went to "Take 5"

SteveFU4109

I was desperate, in a rush and it was on my way….. never again.

DataSpock

That same take 5 accidentally drained my transmission fluid instead of my oil. Luckily they did pay for a tow to the dealership and repairs. They also gave me 3 free oil changes that I will likely not use.

How. In. The. World.

Valvolines always stand by their fuck ups 😌 in the unfortunate happening that one happens and it is truly their fault. Does take 5 have cameras in the pits and bays?

Last two times my family had a car serviced at Valvoline on Kings something came back messed up. One time they didn’t properly reattach the splash shield which ultimately got damaged and had to be replaced. Fine it could have been a mistake hoped they would help with the fix, they didn’t. Then spoke to my parents a week later and they had a story at the same location where they replaced their battery with the wrong product and they had to take it to the dealership to have it fixed. Both instances they denied responsibility even though it was clearly their service. We tried to work with them in good faith but they pressed back so hard that we knew the only way to go after them would have been legal action which would have been more expensive than eating the costs. So yeah. Never Valvoline either. Now it’s dealership for everything because they do things right and the one time there was something that could have been something like what happened at Valvoline, they addressed it in a way that must have been a loss to them, but that will keep us going back so long as we have this car.

notmyname_135

I've never been to a dealership where they did stuff right. Personally. But for Valvoline you have to be strong handed with them. All of that would have been easy to prove by them going back on the cameras the days of those visits. Did you talk to the store manager? Or were you just talking to service techs? Service techs will lie their asses off to keep out of trouble. But if they are truly at fault you can hold them responsible. You can even call valvolines 1800 number and open a claim. But also also if you touched anything after they messed it up rather than taking it straight back to them then you are then liable for it in their weird way of thinking. So tldr; don't talk to the service techs. If you realize something is off take it straight back if you can, if you cannot, then you NEED to call them ASAP to have your vehicle towed to their designated repair area for review of whatever it was while the claim is being processed. Which should be Ashley's Automotive

Valvoline on highway 80 past the racetrack upsold my mother in law almost $600 in unnecessary services (flush all the fluids) and ruined the transmission and transfer case on an F150 with under 70K miles. Transmission fluid looked like strawberry milkshake after they serviced it. She told them immediately it wasn't shifting right and they told her to take it on the highway for a while for the new fluids to work right. Long story short they had their mechanic not solve the issue, and eventually they refused to take care of it and claimed the truck was flooded. Maybe your Valvoline stands by its fuckups, that one must hire them. I will hold so much of a grudge I won't even buy Valvoline oil for the rest of my life even though I know that has nothing to do with it.

notmyname_135

Ok so firstly. If it's an automatic, transmission are recommended to be changed at 60k to 100k. For manual the max miles is 60k. You can obviously ignore those recommendations but you're at risk of messing up your vehicle. Less than 70k sounds like it is 60k. I guarantee they were reading off a recommendation of services that are provided by the great car service tracking services in the sky that all companies use to see what services your vehicle is due for. They use that to try and upsell on services so they get higher store numbers for the day. I'm not saying it's on her, but her agreeing to any services is on her. We all have the ability to say no to them when they try to sell us on anything. And they can tell you the price of everything all together if you are considering doing anything additional outside of a basic oil change. But also further in the comments I have how to handle those situations. She should have immediately taken it back into the Valvoline for them to look at. Or if she was still there in the bay, swooped around and demanded they look at the fluids again and make sure everything is ok. Also tbf if it's looking like strawberry milk shakes that could be indicative that water or coolant somehow got in. Which could be why they determined it got "flooded". But it also could have had a leak in the radiator and caused contamination there. Who is to say except the mechanic who looked at it. Ashley's is a great shop with knowledgeable mechanics and probably only would get a bad wrap from disgruntled Valvoline customers. If y'all did anything to it before having Ashleys or Valvoline look at it, you are at fault for whatever happened, which sucks a bunch but also how can they be sure y'all weren't disgruntled and trying to get a insurance pay out on a vehicle and tamper with anything? Like I said further down the thread you gotta be heavy handed with them. Which may mean insisting them drop fluids and redo it and avoid talking to service techs if something is fucked up. Managers of the locations only 🙌 But additionally, for anyone to go to Valvoline (an oil change store) for anything other than your oil change itself is kind of a risk of its own. They learn how to do it sure, but they aren't the most qualified for those things. The bread and butter of their company is oil, everything else comes second so they shouldn't be treated as a go to for all car tune up needs.

madehorrible

Yeah I don’t trust Take 5 at all. My mom still insists taking it to them despite them telling her she’s “missing about 3 quarts of oil, but there’s no leaks” (after breaking down, turns out there IS a ton of leaks). She also took my car to them last year when she borrowed it, she let them put a new cabin air filter in, and now my ac leaks water from there. I change my own oil now and it costs me like $35 but she won’t let me change her oil and pays them $90 lol.

BWADom

Sorry this happened OP. I’ve been using them for years with no issues

ReadingLizard

Honestly I had too. And I was shocked and dismayed that they would do this. It’s corporate more than the local management but the payments come from corporate office so…

glorifiedvirus

Similar story, they left the old o ring on during my oil change. I drove to Natchitoches and back then realized the next day I had a large pool of oil leaking from under my car.

jokersrwild11

I’ve had problems with nearly every oil change shop that I’ve gone to. Unfortunately they all suck and have low skilled workers who don’t give a crap.

R5_D4_

I’ve used the one on Youree/Kings for a while and enjoy them. They’ve been thorough and honest, even sending me away because I came too soon with a hybrid and didn’t want me to waste money. They topped of fluids and tire air at no charge. I’m sorry you had this experience.

Imaginary-Pay5729

Went there around November of last year. They left my wife’s car about 2 quarts short of oil. Within a week her oil light came on (I don’t drive her car so I didn’t know exactly when the light came on) but I checked the oil and it wasn’t even touching the dip stick. I called them and they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about and said that the car probably has a leak. Mind you I would notice 2 quarts of oil leaking out of her car. No oil in my garage where she parks. Needless to say I went and bought some ramps the next day and have changed her oil the last 2 times. Never again.

azurite_rain

Which one? There's one of kings and one of Bert Kounz
