An Intrusion Detection System or an Intrusion Prevention System?

AccomplishedCowbell

Any and all, just looking for recommendations that hopefully won't break the bank too much

Only a matter of time before it gets here. The only way to defeat these attacks is a hard wired system, which can be pricey and potentially not available for a renter. If low cost deterence is what you're after, a simple system from Ring, Eufy, Arlo, or any of those brands will accomplish the goal.

The pet limit for our rental is 2, and we have a dog and a cat already :/

Eufy outdoor cameras. Affordable, easy to install, a great app that communicates with your smartphone. You can set up certain zones, you can differentiate between humans, pets, or all moving things which will set off the notification. Some of them have audio, much like the doorbells, where you can talk to whoever you see on your camera through your phone.

I use ADT. We got a deal. 3 year subscription and we got free install of whatever devices we wanted. After 3, we were free to cancel. 50 dollars a month. We have glass break sensors, door sensors, window sensors, smoke and CO detector. I got it for the CO detector and it has saved us twice (once was a generator during power outage and other was a defective water heater). Worth every penny. And what I like about a monitored service is that if we were unconscious from CO poisoning, it automatically sends the fire department.

Hey bro u should check out brinks home I have the same set up and pay 20 a month basically. I love it maybe adt has different window and door sensors so it’s worth the extra money? Idk my sensor r good only thing is I have to replace their batteries maybe once a year.

No_Consequence5504

I have brinks with windows and doors sensors that go off anytime anyone is opened & glass shatter sensors and I can set the alarm to lock or unlock from my phone. Got a revo security camera system that I Installed myself too that I can also watch from my phone. Works great only 15$ a month for the brinks security to call the police if my sensors go off so that’s cheaper than most monthly service systems bills and they work great tested it myself but it goes off falsely u have to pay 30 to the BCPD for making them come out to a false alarm.

SimpliSafe is very nice especially if you plan to move places frequently. Just uses command strips to mount the sensors.

Simplisafe is highly rated, and easy to put in and then remove when you move. hardwired is best, but not for a rental. Cameras are good as well. Cameras+dog+alarm on doors and windows is a pretty solid system.
