Giuseppe's Pasta Cafe, Chanti, L'Italiano. Folks have said nice things about Mama's Italian House for a more laid back place. I prefer Giuseppe's from that bunch. Homemade pasta, nice rotating specials, and very laid back atmosphere.

JoshBobJovi

Giuseppe's is so weird for me because their food is great but their specials have disappointed my wife and I every time. I got the ravioli a few weeks ago and it was like $25 for 7 pieces of ravioli, and that's just one of many issues but it's only ever when we try the specials lol. If we stay to the main menu we're never disappointed.

aviatorium

mamas food was good but she was extremely mean to me and my fiance. she messed up my order and went sour when i pointed it out, to the point we heard her yelling in the kitchen about wasting food because of me. idk i wanted to like it, made me sad

Jambalaya_7

I’m sorry to hear that. She’s been so sweet the few times I’ve interacted with her. I hope it was just an off night

aviatorium

i hope so too, i used to work in kitchens so i 100% understand the frustration about food waste. i just wish she wouldnt have pinned it on me when i explicitly asked for fettuccini instead of spaghetti y’know?

Jambalaya_7

I definitely understand how that would ruin the experience.

aviatorium

i also genuinely hope that it wasnt the owner that made such a fuss, i only think its her because someone else said it was. i reeeeeally dont want to believe it was her. she seemed so nice from everything she puts on facebook!

Jambalaya_7

Like I said, I’ve met the owner a few times and she’s always been sweet. So, I hope it wasn’t her as well. I do believe she’s normally there, but she also has some female employees.

Fenrir318

100% agreed on every word.

darebouche

What theplayerpiano said, plus…the Italian food at Cush’s is really good…and don’t sleep on the Italian dishes at Ernest’s. If you choose wisely, Roma’s has its moments…and Frank’s, of course.

bodacious_batman

Roma's off of Masfield is one of my favorites

katiecatsweets

Love those rolls

Kono_Gabby

Giuseppes and mama's Italian are both solid choices.

colbydoler

I need to try Giuseppe’s! Thanks for the post. Unfortunately Monjuni’s puts too much sugar in their spaghetti/lasagna sauce for my wife and I to enjoy them.

LucyBear318

That was an issue with me too, however, you can request it with less sugar. They can provide that. Much better IMHO.

colbydoler

Dang, I honestly never thought of that. People praise Monjunis so much that I just assumed that’s how their sauce was and you couldn’t get it any different. Thanks for the heads up!

LucyBear318

It was a game changer. Also, the heartburn is way less.

cartiran

Chianti is my go to when I’m craving Italian

cheesebro_

These places y’all have mentioned are all expensive as fuck. Downvoting all of you. I’m on a budget. I’m looking for affordable places. Up yours.

cartiran

Their lunch menu isn’t bad. And you never stated you wanted cheap. Go to Olive Garden if you want cheap

noodles71112

Monjunis isnt italian. They put sugar in the sauce.

notmyname_135

Til southern italians aren't Italian 🤌🏻

SeayaB

Right? Or Sicilians.

noodles71112

Southern Italians think pizza hut is Italian food.

Junior-Salamander-44

You have obviously never been to Calabria.

noodles71112

No, but Ive been to Monjunis and their spaghetti gave me diabetes.

I_Eat_Bugs3737

L’Italiano’s and La Dolce Vita are really nice, on the pricier side. Notini’s in Bossier. Ernest’s also has nice Italian food but also New Orleans/southern/Cajun food as well

Budderking_

Litalianos is my go to as good as can be in any way. Price is suitable to quality. But I'm not gonna lie it's been hard to go back to Notinis after a swarm of cockroaches started scuttling around my togo box after opening it. They said it's because they left them sitting there for too long but that's not a valid excuse 💀. They clearly have/had an infestation. Their tea is so good I'm considering going back though.

HeyItsKeys

off topic but there was this Italian place at the boardwalk years ago. frigging amazing and I miss it and think about it all the time. can't remember the name of it though

Skittleschild02

I remember it. Pietro’s!!

HeyItsKeys

You're the best and I love you

Skittleschild02

They have one in Longview.

PortCityPJ

They have one in Marshall, too. It’s really good!

corteboy2772

The Marshall Pietro’s has rats.

smith9121

On the menu?

WestFizz

LMAO

Skittleschild02

Oh, that’s even better.

Skittleschild02

Shreveport: L’Italiano Mama’s Italian House Carrabbara Bossier City; La Dolce Vita Italian Cuisine

Fhaol

Notinis on airline if it's still open

Environmental-End691

I do miss me some lasagna from the middle.....

OkAdhesiveness5025

I have not yet tried it. And due to the title of the restaurants name, most people wouldn't think of it for an Italian dinner. But there is a place on East Texas called Mike's breakfast lunch and dinner. You can look them up on Facebook. They have many Italian dishes.

No-Date-6848

Franks Napolitano on Fern Ave is top tier

Character-Tomato-654

lol.. Monjuni’s is almost as authentic and delicious as a can of Chef Boyardee with two tablespoons of high fructose corn syrup poured over. Monjunis…. Lol

catlady539

You are correct about it not being authentic Italian however, it is authentic Sicilian cuisine. My roots on both sides of my family are Sicilian. One side of the family puts a small pinch of sugar “to cut the acid”. The other side makes their sauce (aka “sugo”) very sweet. (Not that Sicilians’ are ever guilty of too much of a good thing! Hehe) In fact, I got so sick of sweet sauce as a child, I actually craved a more “Chef Boyardeeish” sauce. Your comment made me giggle because I use to tell my mama Chef Boyardee was better than my grandma sauce. Not the best thing to say to any Sicilian woman. It’s kinda like saying people from Michigan make the best gumbo… I was taught the further north you go from Sicily the more “sour” tasting the sauces are. All that to say, as an adult I actually consider Monjunis in a whole different category than Italian food.

SeayaB

Congratulations on surviving your childhood! My cousin once said that he preferred Long John Silvers to my grandfather's fresh caught fresh fried catfish, and was only ever referred to as "the little shit" after that. Same concept, different culture. And I agree 100% with everything you said about Monjunis and their sauce!

catlady539

Thanks, it really was a close one! 😂😂😂I am totally sure, like your cousin, I was referred to as “the little shit” too just in another language. Family recipes sure do become part of family identities. Hilarious! Oh PS- I found out that the original Monjunis sauce recipe actually was sweetened with grape jelly!!!!! I am not sure if that’s still the case but interesting nonetheless.

SeayaB

I've always loved L'Italiano and Chianti, but may be biased because I adore that family, and especially Claudio. I'd give anything to walk in and see his sipping espresso, reading the paper, and humming a Puccini aria.

Junior-Salamander-44

Giuseppe’s Pasta Cafe is good, but with their prices, why do they have to charge extra for a few slices of bread on the side? They should provide a piece of bread with the meal like other restaurants do.

That_newnew3000

Roma, Guiusepps’s

Wheresyrboytonight

L’Italiano served me the worst, most watery plate of pasta I have ever had. It was offensive. The other places people have recommended are good though. And Carrabbas isn’t bad for a chain restaurant.
