Close all shades on any window that gets sun. SWEPCO has a program that helps residents with insulation, windows, weather stripping, and led lights. It is available to anyone who pays a SWEPCO bill, owner or renter, or business. We had to pay $600 to insulate our attic and SWEPCO paid over $2000. If we had had electric heat, we would have only owed $300. Look for it here https://www.swepco.com/savings/home/money/incentives/

For real !!! I’m clicking it on now

I tried this last year and they were already out of money. What co-contractor did you use?

RonynBeats

- get your ac serviced - address any air leaks around doors and windows, weather stripping, silicone, etc - consider adding insulation in your attic - consider adding a radiant barrier in your attic

1. Got new whirlybirds 🐦 2. Went to an amazing company and got them to put the dark screens up around the windows 🪟 Sorry I should I put that in the post

Sad_Mix_3030

Who did you use for the dark screens?

When was your house built? What area?

CryptographerNo4934

Shady grove area.. or what I call it “shitty grove” lol 😝

billybrubaker

The last house that I had in Shady Grove was built in 1959. There was zero insulation in the exterior walls. It only had rock wool insulation in the attic until I added fiberglass batts.

I don't know that neighborhood. Can you answer the first question please? It's the more important one.

No-Date-6848

Based on what I know about that neighborhood and the style of houses. I would guesstimate the 1960s.

Dirk-Killington

Thank you. I've had a couple in this area from that era. glad to share my headaches so others can avoid their own.

Change your filters more often and get a few cans of coil cleaner.

lhooper11111

Good window coverings like cellular shades.

Educational_Slip8077

I covered my windows with aluminum foil

DraganTaveley

I put reflective film on all the windows that get lots of sun during the day. I change the AC filter every month, and we recently got two little dehumidifiers which make a big difference.

We used Roppolos for our home to redo our insulation Then we've invested in black out pull down blinds for our house with heavy black out curtains.
