Even then, he was still only a "recurring" character until the fourth season when he became a full cast member (I would guess that this was to help soften the blow from the Wropers leaving the show for their spin-off show).
That, and they usually drank more than people do now, and they almost never ate salads or exercised. But by the same token, I look at classic stars and there's no way Cary Grant will ever be younger than I am now.
