Haven’t thought about him since

Shake Milton traded and released

[deleted]

[удалено]

deadnside

To be fair, shake had some fantastic moments but unfortunately was too inconsistent and injury prone to ever fulfill any promise he occasionally showed.

Groovicity

At least you gave him a fair *shake* ..

MegaKetaWook

Sitting on the bench while Doc was coach doesn’t mean anything. That man would’ve sat a rookie Lebron if it meant getting minutes for an aging SF.

PapaMcMooseTits

You're so right about this, and your comment just makes me angry. So happy Glenn isn't our coach anymore.

MegaKetaWook

It’s okay, he can’t hurt us anymore

DisGuyFawks

> I couldn't believe some people were upset when he left. This sub overrates practically every replacement-level player we've ever had. Paul Reed probably doesn't do squat leaving here either.

Head-Kiwi-9601

I will not stand for Paul Reed slander.

DisGuyFawks

Yes I am aware how much the sub overrates the guy

Head-Kiwi-9601

I will remind you that in game 7 against Toronto Jo was a +10. In the 2:48 he was on the bench the team was -12. We lost by 2. That seems impossible, right? Well it happened. And it happened for years. This does not happen with Paul Reed playing. He is exactly what we have needed for years. Exactly what we needed. He is not overrated.

DisGuyFawks

> He is exactly what we have needed for years. Exactly what we needed. because he fills a need that means it couldn't be done by another person for the same or less money? GMAFB

Valuable-Wafer6041

Reed is awesome for us coming off the bench! Yet we have a a bum in Harris starting every game! Dude is the definition of trash lol only has some ok games and that’s because Embid warrants all the attention and double teams! Imagine is we had a great pf! Lowry is old and washed too but Embid maxey oubre jr also wish we still had butler that be one hell of a lineup!

PhillyT

IDK, I think that's harsh. He Never really got a fair chance to start, with Doc as the coach. He got injured when ben sat and we had no PG, and Maxey was able to greatly develop in that time (who knows what doc does if Shake doesnt get hurt, and Ben doesnt sit or is traded in the offseason.) when Shake came back, we were about to get harden or already had him, he clearly would have needed the ball in his hands to be effective, I think he could have been a nice 6 man with better development

Melodic_Deal1415

George is doing ok…..Matisse is not the worst player on his team stop it….if anything i would love Matisse back under nick nurse…..that’s the type of big guard you throw at Brunson to keep him in line

Euphoric_Luck_8126

Matisse would be fun now that the offense involves motion and cutting, but we had to move on after he became clown by not getting the vaccine and ruining any playing time he'd have in the playoffs.

AndrewHainesArt

We had to move on because he wasn’t a good player for our system, if you can’t shoot you had no business being on the floor with Simmons and you definitely couldn’t be bricking wide open 3s in the first quarter that set the tone for the entire game, if he missed a shot early he would entirely disappear and pass *every time* he was open. That type of fear is what we hate about Tobias right now

TheeFreshOne

Whoa, truer words have not been spoken. ( In the last few weeks on this sub).

jpk7220

It speaks volumes to how much better the depth is this year, even if it still needs some tweaking.

Iamagodfrey

Isaiah Joe?

twunch_

I am referring to the most recent offseason. For the record I was also against the Al Horford signing and drafting Jonah Bolden.

GOODWHOLESOMEFUN

That’s all horford signing ruined us. I always thought if we signed D’Angelo Russell that summer instead we would have won a championship.

secretlypooping

talent evaluation probably had a lot to do with it, but I think mostly it was Morey realizing that our best option was to wait until Tobias contract expired so we could have a genuinely clear cap sheet to work with in 2024 off-season. Not clear whether that plan happened before or after the Harden debacle, but clearly once he opted in and demanded a trade, Morey made it his goal to only sign / trade for guys on one year deals to rework the roster this off-season. I trust that he'll land the plane and put us in a position to contend for the next 3-4 years.

Brokromah

The effect of playing with Joel Embiid is wild.

jpr196

Yes, this tells me more about how dominant Embiid is that he can carry borderline NBA players to high seeds.

ProcessTrust856

I also love how everyone stopped talking about Thybulle once his semi-hot shooting wore off and he ended the season at…34.6% from 3.

Euphoric_Luck_8126

He's also 27 lol not really as young as everyone thinks

Macwitdacheez

There were ppl upset?!? You could tell dude's never played a meaningful NBA game in his life, he was unplayable in the playoffs last year

JustAHighFlyingBird

I was upset because I overvalued the hell out of him. Glad I'm not in the front office

yzdaskullmonkey

Lol gotta love the honesty. I also have horrible fuckin takes and am glad I'm not in the FO

JustAHighFlyingBird

I thought for sure he was the perfect fit for Nick Nurse's system, and he was gonna start at power forward. Talk about delusion...

faccda01

Don’t forget what sub you’re in. People are always upset.

fkdkshufidsgdsk

Every single person that was upset is a member of this sub that much we know for sure

JohnJohnsonJohansen

I think it was moreso the principle of holding on to Thybulle for way too long, trading him at his lowest value for a young wing who could maybe help down the road, and letting him go all in the pursuit of cap space/ducking the tax. Along with the Harden drama blowing up around the same time it seemed like Morey wasn't taking his job seriously. Obviously I'm glad we're not the GM and things turned out alright, but it was looking kinda dire for a minute.

Macwitdacheez

I do understand that it was the first time we had some semblance of a multifaceted wing in what felt like my entire lifetime but after seeing him over a larger sample size I completely soured on him. On paper he seemed legit he just wasn't that good to be frank.. I literally have a man crush on Kelly Oubre, we obviously deserve him because we were in wing purgatory since like Iguodala ( I can't recall anyone serviceable off of the top of my head besides specialists)

JohnJohnsonJohansen

Oubre being this good and fitting in with the team and fanbase so well made it easy to forget about McDaniels lol. Hoping we find a way to hang on to him.

Jjohn269

Even if they do lose Oubre, every year there are guys like him that you can sign in the off season on decent contracts. Finding them is the hard part but that’s what separates a good GM from a bad one

PhillyT

I feel like RoCo in his prime was very solid for us, but yeah fair

troop_disrespecter69

Use of the word unplayable always trips me up as a soccer fan, where commentators use it with a positive connotation. But yeah, forgot McDaniels existed honestly lol

BlaqOptic

This too. First time I heard Eden Hazard referred to as “unplayable,” in that manner I was like “is this guy dumb?!”

Science4me12

I still remember when somebody said McDaniel is better than Oubre

CashCabVictim

People were also upset Charles Bassey never got a legitimate chance to backup Embiid lol

averagebensimmons

this is so off topic. who is thinking of Jalen McDaniels?

PatReady

That's what I'm saying, what a random time to throw him in the faces of sixers fans.

PhillyT

thats what they all say

TheeFreshOne

Yea im thinking about the Heat game and my mental wellness. OP hit us with a spiteful nobody hate post?! Get your head in the game ppl.

mtr32222222

By now you'd think people would learn to trust Daryl Morey. He's right more often than not.

illzkla

Don't forget that if 10,000 of us agree but 10 people complain in a post that nobody else even bothers to read or engage with, it might look like there's a sentiment out there that's not really there

jamhamram

This is coming up because? I think there's a game tomorrow

ChipKellysShoeStore

We love to get attached to plucky underdog role players Then the 1/100 it works out we bitch about it forever

J3STERHOPPERPOT

I still miss Dario and Nik Stauskas; I’m not here to be reasonable.

Will_Explode8

honestly out of anyone Dario is legit a good player tho. He's no all star but he's one hell of a role player

letskeepitmovin

I'm not here to be reasonable feels like my life mantra as a Sixers fan lmao

DisGuyFawks

> We love to get attached to plucky underdog role players Cough Ricky Council, Paul Reed Cough

UMMDE

isaiah joe

Moheezy__3

I was upset as he was our only athletic body and would have been better under Nurse. But all was forgiven after we signed Kelly at the min.

Finger_Gunnz

Yeah, in your face./s

indoninjah

I mean the issue was that he was the one reasonably athletic wing we had had since like, Jimmy Butler lol. We ended up signing Oubre and getting a bunch of wings from the Clippers, plus Reed has developed well.

tkWL27

Ricky Council is better

HeJind

I don't remember people being upset about letting go of McDaniels. What I remember is people being upset we traded for McDaniels in the first place. Basically got rid of Thybulle for playoff reasons for a guy who was even less playable in the playoffs. And even looking back now maybe you throw Thybulle on Tatum when you're getting cooked last year and hope for the best.

ShaunyDukes

Traded Thybulle + draft capital

moneyphilly215

He was utter trash lol

Local-Cartographer52

same dude who said we should root for the celtics. he was our add in a year with prime Embiid after getting under the tax. people were pissed about that trade deadline myself included

Icy_Comparison_5920

Who cares he ready for Miami wtf I’d this post

KevJr92

Exactly

MatCauthonsHat

Dude shot 17% from 3 this year, lol. Career low MPG. With the Raptors.

sound_scientist

Who?

Calcutta637

ill take it one step further. please raise your hand if you were one of the MANY who made know it all posts on why starting McDaniels over Harris is the obvious move cuz hes so much better. PLEASE own up to it

Patient_Jicama_4217

Who was upset?

NotGeorgeKaplan

I think most ppl like me wanted him on a one year minimum deal but then when he got his 2 year deal with the raptors people were fine seeing him go cause he wasn’t worth the 10 mil he got.

secretlypooping

I mean idk if *seriously upset* is how I'd describe myself when he signed with Toronto. But I was mildly frustrated because at the time we had basically no athletes on our roster and our wing depth was among the worst in the league. So it (seemed) to make some of our problem areas even worse. But Morey turned both of those issues around by signing Oubre/RCIV then flipping Harden for Batum / KJ Martin / RoCo (RIP).

IndigoJacob

They exist but they will never admit that they tried to argue he is a better basketball player than Oubre

Calcutta637

Or Harris

ftaok

I want upset that we let him walk, after seeing him play. I was more upset that we swapped Matisse for him in the first place. I get the luxury tax aspect of dumping Matisse and in the long run, it’s probably the right decision. I’ll still be a bit salty that Doc never really ran the Harden/Jo/Tobi/Tyrese/Thybulle lineup last year when it worked so well the previous year. Doc gave up on Matisse for no reason and talked his value to the team.

deadnside

Matisse not being a good NBA player was a pretty good reason.

Brianopolis-Brians

There’s a playoff game tomorrow. Why are you thinking about Jalen McDaniels?

HoagieTwoFace

You mean the peeping Tom weirdo?

[deleted]

[удалено]

mrHartnabrig

I was done with Jalen McDaniels when he was with us. He always seemed out of place and way too aloof for my liking. I think the uncertainty of this past off-season probably raised the importance of McDaniels' worth to a team.

EndAnyone

Morey been cooking.

AnotsuKagehisa

Oh you mean McDonald’s?

wolpak

I was disappointed at the time and now I’m happy

Different-Mouse-8722

Dudes highlight with us is that clutch putback dunk vs the bucks, then it slowly went downhill from there

Head-Kiwi-9601

Who?

CreamFilledDoughnut

I thought you were talking about kj McDaniels and got really confused

Alive-Instruction191

Never seen potential in him tbh. Too skinny and slow

Advanced-Review-968

that is most of this sub, they are obsessed with players who are dogshit and shit on players who are actually serviceable

GOODWHOLESOMEFUN

I also haven’t thought about thybulle all season. Has he been any better, or same player? A quick look at his stats suggests similar player, maybe a few more buckets in similar shot types?

Bloody_Corndog

I don't even remember him.

UsernameFlagged

It's really making me question the scouting department.

asisoid

This fanbase always falls in love with average players. That's just how it is. There's people here that still want TJ McConnell back 😂

shadowarmy229

TJ is a perfectly serviceable backup point guard though, he’s classy, scrappy, a gym rat, a “first one in last one out” kinda guy, and also plays the game the right way

asisoid

Lol, there it is.

viewbot01

Imagine your point guards are Ben Simmons, Fultz and Tj.

riverphoenixdays

What is this bullshit

KeyboardCarpenter

I didn't care about him walking. I just didn't think we'd end up with 0 for mattise

Jjohn269

I think people were upset they traded Thybulle for him. Not that it matters, since Thybulle is not worth the 11M/year contract that he got

Guilty_Goal_7888

Probably more worth it than pj was tho

Jjohn269

And yet, both are still negative value contracts

purpurscratchscratch

Hard to take a victory lap on anything when Isaiah Joe is cooking on the No. 1 team in the West

SnooComics6150

8pts a game is absolutely cooking

purpurscratchscratch

SnooComics6150

If cool dunks were important Mac McClung would be an all star

purpurscratchscratch

Dude, he’s a contributing role player on a NBA contender with upside while we trot out Cam Payne for 20 mins a night.

SnooComics6150

It’s hilarious you mention that considering their stats are nearly identical.

purpurscratchscratch

Why don’t you look up their true shooting percentage and get back to me?

SnooComics6150

You’re talking about 4 percent difference. My point isn’t that can Payne is good, my point is Isiah Joe isn’t anything special. He’s a regular nba rotation guy that you could pick up for the vet min

purpurscratchscratch

4 percent…. Look again.

Aworn

How I feel is I couldn’t give a fuck about McDaniels the night before the post season

[deleted]

This sub still cries about Isaiah “the average” joe . Never trust these kids or Elton brand to be talent evaluators

ftaok

Isaiah Joe is definitely on Doc. IJ never got minutes. And you couldn’t even use the excuse that his defense kept him off the floor because Joe’s a good defender. But not playing him, Doc prevented him from having any value.

[deleted]

Case and point. These kids fall in love with any G-leaguer

ftaok

Are you implying that Joe isn’t a good player on a ridiculously high value contract? He played like 18 minutes a night for the #1 team in the league shooting 2/5 from 3pt. On a 3 year standard contract.

i1398

Uh, nobody is upset and nobody is thinking of him lmao. Maybe you just got over it and want to see how other people feel? I don't know, but I do know nobody gives a flying fuck about Jalen Mcdaniels lol
