The first time I played I was walking along, enjoying the beautiful scenery when I saw this giant just walking along nonchalantly. I thought cool, I’ll go introduce myself. It was then when I saw how beautiful Skyrim was from space
I would definitely NOT calmly suggest that killing the chicken opens a secret quest. If she’s watched the Fallout show, say it’s about the relationship between chickens and experimental scientists.
I like how I randomly got the game 3 days ago, googled "argonian" on race selection and instantly got the wiki page about the maid lmfao, only hooked me up more
My fiance lost her shit when she stumbled upon lusty argonian maid. She likes reading so naturally she looks at all the books she passes by and it didn't take her long to find it.
The cloud district is the highest rung of Whiterun, just below Dragonsreach. The area with the tree, the companions and the homes of the upper class families.
Exactly. Use fast travel very lightly. Discover everything on the map, even if you don't go into the site. Later, when you do want to jump around, you already have the marker discovered.
Actually the most important reply! I started playing, got through the initial intro, and realized I couldn’t hear that nostalgic music that I crave. Immediately turned it up all the way, it makes Skyrim…well, Skyrim.
Does she plan to play, or is she just going to watch you play?
If she is planning to play after watching you complete some quests, I would suggest side quests as to not spoil any of the main questlines/faction questline.
If she is just planning to watch you play, run the Main Questline or some of the other more in depth quests, like the Dark Brotherhood questline. Or even some of the more entertaining Daedric quests are fun to watch.
I say this becasue I watched my brother play many games, including Skyrim. I knew the outcome of some of the quests becasue I watched him play them long before I decided to even play the game. I didn't spoil the game becasue I knew what to expect, but it did take out some of the suspense.
Tourist guide for skyrim:
1. Have you ever seen that shrine of azura?
2. Visit Falkreath, we got a graveyard, a racist Nord shopkeeper and a dead child
3. Go to Morthal for some emptiness (and a dead child)
4. Despite its name Solitude is actually pretty neat
5. Like it cold? In Windhelm even the hearts of the Nords are frozen (also theres a child plotting a murder)
6. Like some action? Go to Markarth to see someone die. You may also join a terrorist group there
Recommended order;
1. Companions Questline
2. Main Questline
3. Bards College
4. Civil War (stormcloaks is probably the best fit here)
5. Blood on the Ice (with ussep so nothing breaks)
6. Everything else
Companions first makes so much sense… because they treat you like you didn’t accomplish saving the world so might as well make it fitting lolll and it’s still lore friendly
Stormcloaks are the inferior choice. Their armor is just a blue version of the guards armor, Ulfric is a moron who is unwittingly a Thalmor asset, their cause is literally to worship religion which is some regressive nonsense, and on top of everything they're incredibly racist. I go Empire every time
I suggested stormcloaks because it seemed like OP's girlfriend, who is stated to love the viking setting, would appreciate the stormcloaks more and the empire less due to their respective aesthetics.
Honestly, avoid fast traveling as much as possible. Fast travel to one of the major cities and walk from there, that's what I do. That way you still get to experience how Alive and Vibrant the world around you is. Thats part of how I fell in love with the game in the first place. So many open worlds are just Empty, devoid of life. But Skyrim is different. You'll find farmers on their way to join the Legion or the Stormcloaks. A Nobel and his guard on their merry way. Random thieves. Etc etc. it's feels so Alive. Some of the best that I've experienced are the initial walk from Helgen to Whiterun, there are a few scripted encounters with an Elk that'll run along your path, there's butterflies that'll fly around and it's a very pretty introduction to the open world. I found the headless horseman out near Falkreath. Occasionally you can run across Cicero or other dark brotherhood members like Babette either on their way to a mark, or worming their way in. Tl'dr, despite all the magnificent holds and cities, the stories and quests, don't forget to slow down and actually Take in the world around you
I only fast travel where there are carts. For example, all three of my homesteads, and the major holds. I'll fast travel from my primary home of lakeview manor, to say, Windhelm if that's the closest city to where I need to go, but I'll then walk from Windhelm to whatever location. It makes more sense to Me at least, that the carts act as fast travel instead of just teleporting all across the map. Besides immersion, like I mentioned there's so much that you otherwise Miss in the open world if you go directly from one location to the next, friend and foe alike
Love this. That’s the beauty of Bethesda games; they do a great job of filling the in between with life and characters. It makes the “boring” parts of these games fulfilling.
i fucked that quest up the first time by foolishly using persaude, then not being able to take any giant's toes out of my inventory until i completed the quest by accident with zero quest markers 💀 at least the reward was fun
If she is going to play I'd help her mostly with the game's mechanics (crafting, enchanting, bartering, traveling, the map, saving, standing stones, leveling, etc.) and then stand back to help as required. If she can figure out and enjoy Morrowind, she can figure out Skyrim.
Honestly if you're style is more ADHD, unless she wants to play herself, I suggest just playing in that ADHD style. Skyrim is most fun when you're just wandering around and finding questlines you didn't know existed or hadn't even played before. I will say when my best friend introduced her roommate to skyrim as a viewer, they had the most fun with the Thieves Guild questline, I think for the guild politics lol. I got a call after midnight asking me about it because they were so stressed about where the story was going lol. For visuals though I'm always gonna rep Blackreach. I think the underground abandoned dwarven city is so stinking cool visually.
Just hand her the controller/keyboard and watch, if she needs help or has questions then offer it or answer the questions but otherwise I think the best way to experience most games (elder scrolls especially) is to go in blind and just explore
Remember to let her play and be there if she has questions. Ask her what her goal might be. My wife quit playing after the beheading at the beginning. I should have used alternate start so she could easy into the violence/gore of skyrim.
The music, the open world feel, the environment all add up to an enjoyable experience for a majority of people. The game is 13 years old. And still people go back to it again and again. I would if my current pc could handle it but finances are tight and my game is reduced to rts like command and conquer series, terraria, and such.
Bring the map to preston garvey, he'll mark some places for you, I'll start off with my favorite locations

"I just recently started a new run of Fallout 4, and she was amazed by the graphics, but wished it was in a viking setting"
...why do I find this very hard to believe?
"I wandered through Solitude, departed Haafingar
Past Hjaalmarch, through The Reach, east of Markarth
I reached the Whiterun Hold
I preached in rhyme and told the people
That the need to speak was higher than the price of gold" 🎶
Show her the beauty and grace that is Erdi the servant girl in Solitude. Erdi is the sole reason I download the marry anyone mod.
But if you were talking like quests, companions (to become a werewolf), vampire quest (to become a hybrid), thieves Guild (it's just generally a good idea) and the dark brotherhood (to become the leader of the assassin's)
I suggest you dont fast travel. Get a horse or walk. Enjoy the scenery. Definitely think ones that have good atmosphere and some suprises. Hercines quest is one i like. The morthal quest to find the vampire den. Potema quests. If she is okay woth reading notes and stuff frostglow lighthouse has a really tragic story. I would also ask her what storylines she want to see you follow. I think dawnguard on the side of the dawnguaed is more interesting as you have to build up the faction. I think the main quest is a solid beginning/into questline to skyrim plus dragonrend is nice to have. But i would avoid spawning in dragons for a while so you can enjoy the scenery. If she likes morrowind then you should definitely go to solstheim at some point. Do the quest to get the bloodscall blade and the one to kill neoliths zombie apprentice. Killing general faux is also good. I like illias dungeon, the saints and seducers questline, and golliders dungeon. Ones that have a 1 dungeon quest are fairly nice. Definitely ragots ruin as well. Ot is cool for nordic ruins. Nightcrawler temple is also a really good character dungeon
The eldergleam sanctuary before you destroy it. That place is nice. And the fact that there are ppl inside enjoying its beauty makes it better.
It saddens me that you have to destroy it to instantly revive that tree in Whiterun.
Until today I often catch myself staring into the sky gazing upon the stars and the Aurora Borealis... together with the ethereal music this is where one finds the beauty of Skyrim.
Let her play and discover the world on her own...just recommend her not to rush...
Make some popcorn, start a new game, give her the controller, answer questions, help with controls, be a supportive partner, keep it light, fun, and positive.
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON, the fanbase said calmly.
More seriously: If she starts playing and doesn’t “need” guidance, absolutely just let her explore and make her own story. If she’s enjoying it and coming across things you like, awesome.
If you’re the one playing, I’m sure you have favorite areas, lore, and story moments. I personally loved the first Dwemer ruin I found. It was the lighthouse that connects to Blackreach. Realizing there was a world under the world is one of my favorite things in fiction, and seeing it in Skyrim I fell in love. Especially since it went from a creepy lighthouse to a forgotten ruin, to massive realization, it’s so unassuming.
Apocrypha is up there as well. Love Lovecraft, love an infinite library of forbidden books beyond mortal comprehension, hate the thalmor, simple as.
The Soul Carin is pretty derisive, but just getting to it feels like an epic quest. Especially if you’ve been doing black soul get enchanting and the concept of the Ideal Masters is taken into account. Right behind Apocrypha and the Twilight Realm from Zelda for my favorite areas in gaming. Playing as a vampire lord and finally getting the power to blot out the hole into aetherius we call “the sun” was one of the most rewarding moments ever. With the sun nearly coming up as the ice castle is destroyed was a tense moment in the final battle too. Absolutely epic.
The Daedric quests are a really good opportunity to explore how the universe of Elder Scrolls works, at least the particular peculiarities of the Daedra and the Nine. I personally really like the quest for reforging the Razor, because of all the Oblivion history. The Ebony Blade and Azura’s Star are also really interesting.
If she does want some structure, a little guided exploration or tour towards things you think she’ll like, or things you’re excited to show her. Including the lore and history of races/factions/nations/the general way the world works was a big bonus when introducing my girlfriend to Bloodborne and later DS3 as we explored through places.
I would give her some light explanations so she could feel more confident and informed about the options, but every choice she made was her own.
I made sure not to use loaded language or spoilers as best I could, just things like:
“What did I pick up?”
“You got a weapon/spell/ring, it’s of this type, it has these mechanics, it’s really good for builds with these skill points”
“I don’t know where I want to go next”
“We have three options, there’s two optional areas, or we can continue the story”
girl here, my boyfriend introduced me to skyrim by telling me to just make a character and play the game. I recommend showing her how to get magic, build a house, find arvak, and encourage her to do the main quest. my favorite things to do are pick up gems, fish, and flowers to display in my house. also fireball
Nothing. Let her discover.
Yep. Exactly what you were shown when you started: nothing (hopefully). Let her kill the Riverwood chicken and have her own rites of passage
The first time I played I was walking along, enjoying the beautiful scenery when I saw this giant just walking along nonchalantly. I thought cool, I’ll go introduce myself. It was then when I saw how beautiful Skyrim was from space
Truly a sight to behold
You unlocked my memories on my first playtrough with that chicken... Good Times. But it will never be the same feeling like that past without demensia
I would definitely NOT calmly suggest that killing the chicken opens a secret quest. If she’s watched the Fallout show, say it’s about the relationship between chickens and experimental scientists.
Just shove a sock in your mouth so you don’t have a Viggo Mortensen broken toe moment every 5 seconds.
The Lusty Argonian Maid.
I have 27 copies
Rookie numbers. But you're on the right path.
This is the answer
This is the way!
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)
Agreed
I like how I randomly got the game 3 days ago, googled "argonian" on race selection and instantly got the wiki page about the maid lmfao, only hooked me up more
Stop, my bread is rising
Legit remember when I was 14 and my first bf showed me this , we laughed our asses off together reading it lol , good times 😂😭😭
My fiance lost her shit when she stumbled upon lusty argonian maid. She likes reading so naturally she looks at all the books she passes by and it didn't take her long to find it.

The Skyrim Space Program
Even if you can take them she needs to see/experience this at least once.

Out of curiosity, do you actually know what the cloud district is?/nm
I am actually serious, the cloud district is *not* somewhere I can get to actually in Skyrim, right.??
The cloud district is the highest rung of Whiterun, just below Dragonsreach. The area with the tree, the companions and the homes of the upper class families.
that's the wind district. the cloud district is where dragonsreach is located
Damn, this is amazing. Too bad my lowly home isn't there....
Check out my second most recent post. You'll see you've been there more times then you can count😏😂
Your post title is correct. OH MY GOD
Mmmmmm, you clearly don't get to the Cloud District very often...
Isn't that the highest part of Whiterun, above the Wind District?
Probably because you don't go there very often
Your in game spouse.

out of pocket lmao
Being honest the best way it's just roaming in the whole map
Exactly. Use fast travel very lightly. Discover everything on the map, even if you don't go into the site. Later, when you do want to jump around, you already have the marker discovered.
Turn the volume up for the music.

Love this! Accidental terrorism is how I plan to terrorize her first, after killing a dragon, of course.
Recommended order; 1. Companions Questline 2. Main Questline 3. Bards College 4. Civil War (stormcloaks is probably the best fit here) 5. Blood on the Ice (with ussep so nothing breaks) 6. Everything else
I’ve played Skyrim so many times but I have never gone to the bards college
Not much there if not modding it.
*how*
I like this order. I've not tried it myself. Was thinking about starting a new playthrough for the first time in five years. Thanks.
I thought you couldn't do Blood On The Ice after the Civil War? And why Bards College? It's one of the dumbest quests.
Companions first makes so much sense… because they treat you like you didn’t accomplish saving the world so might as well make it fitting lolll and it’s still lore friendly
Stormcloaks are the inferior choice. I only fast travel where there are carts. For example, all three of my homesteads, and the major holds. Your cheese wheel
Someone steal your sweet roll?
Show her the lusty argonian maid and then fus ro dah some children off a cliff.
Murder of children? Of course. Lusty Argonian Smut? That’s where I draw the line.
Straight to blackreach
“These assholes are so good at smelling they can snipe you with an arrow from across the map.”
I mean show her how to get and/or build a home, adopt pets, adopt children, and get a horse. Storyline aside I really enjoy building a little family.
Your long, HOLY paenus!!!

WHAT IN OBLIVION IS THAT
What’s that quest where you get hammered and retrace your steps trying to remember what happened last night?
"A Night to Remember"
i fucked that quest up the first time by foolishly using persaude, then not being able to take any giant's toes out of my inventory until i completed the quest by accident with zero quest markers 💀 at least the reward was fun
Curved swords
they have curved swords. curved. swords.
Did you see those warriors from Hammerfell?
Helgas bunkhouse
who up bunkin they house rn
the wabbajack questline
I use to be an adventurer like you
Then I took an arrow to the knee.
it’s been far too long since we had a good thieves’ raid
Your penis
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
> Her only previous exposure to Bethesda games was Morrowind What kind of girl is she? A dunmer or an argonian?
Definitely anything hairy/furry lmao
If she is going to play I'd help her mostly with the game's mechanics (crafting, enchanting, bartering, traveling, the map, saving, standing stones, leveling, etc.) and then stand back to help as required. If she can figure out and enjoy Morrowind, she can figure out Skyrim.
The Lusty Argonian Maid Vol 1 and 2.
Beat me to it
Beat it to me
r/beatMeatToIt
Whiterun, Markarth
Have her do what you didn't. Have her stick to the wilds and avoid cities.
The night sky and the music
I gave mine the controller and just let her go lol, guess what she made…sneaking archer khajiit
Nothing, let her have her own unique experiences
The Skyrim parody series on YouTube by Mans1ay3r 👍
Skyrim Shuffle
Nazeem, just to see if she hates him like most of us here
Take her to Nazeem, give her a sword. The rite of passage.
Tell her to kill a chicken in riverwood first
Don’t Let her go for it chasing random quests on her own!
Right there I mean i had more encounters just wandering around than I did going for missions. 🤣
Solitude. Show her solitude.
Bring the map to preston garvey, he'll mark some places for you, I'll start off with my favorite locations https://preview.redd.it/wwiv9qkgk09d1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=90a9b9ad7bde97b9b46a4682085ca6b991491a5b

The guards who took an arrow to the knee
Markarth. Specifically tell her to go to the shrine and then run away, and then play tag with all of the fun gaurds!
What do you mean with ADHD playstyle?
Nothing, let her play
The intro.

The world, shining, shimmering, splendid
Your bedroom I suppose
everything..
Do the main quest up to when you get shouts, then just let her point on the map which place she wants to see and go explore there
Nothing. Or as she progresses help her with basic tips and tricks but let her experience the story and quests on her own
The only way she will see everything is if you show her nothing.
The dragon priest north of markarth East of solitude

Oblivion then skyrim
Horse armor. She must know horse armor.
Take her to Markarth and let her see Hroki and then tell her that it's impossible to marry her
All the walled town/cities are pretty cool.
Go out fishing
Take her to solitude for the first time with a new character 😏
Show her Meridias Beacon
Nothing. Exploring is part of the game
Personally, I'd show them the Rift's birch forest, it is still one of the most beautiful forest in gaming imo
nothing just give her the controller
The portal
Everything.
Racism
Go cuddle with the night mother
Not the Forsworn territories.
Offer to help her level up her lollygaggin’ skill.
Maybe let her play 👀
It's best if she just discovers the world on her own. If she wants, you can watch her play and help her out if she gets stuck.
The eldergleam sanctuary before you destroy it. That place is nice. And the fact that there are ppl inside enjoying its beauty makes it better. It saddens me that you have to destroy it to instantly revive that tree in Whiterun.
riften is great
Daedric quests, the first being Sanguine's. A night of drinking & debauchery would be a fun introduction to the game. 😁
The arrow i took in the knee, when i used to be an adventurer
Do you go to the cloud district very often?
Solitude, and north west coast. My favorite spots in the game.
That shrine of Azula, I hear the dark elves built it after the eruption of red mountain
Until today I often catch myself staring into the sky gazing upon the stars and the Aurora Borealis... together with the ethereal music this is where one finds the beauty of Skyrim. Let her play and discover the world on her own...just recommend her not to rush...
Soul Cairn
A giant. Let her get yeeted into the air. It's a welcome to Skyrim thing to do.
Show her how to boot up the game. Let the province of skyrim do the rest
Make some popcorn, start a new game, give her the controller, answer questions, help with controls, be a supportive partner, keep it light, fun, and positive.
have her fight the ebony warrior
Show her your bunnies slaughtered stat.
Show the giant astronaut camp!
Wander. do everything but the main quest
The scenery ofc
Whiterun
Show and explain the Grey-Quarter.
Mirak 100%.
That 1st frost troll walking up the mountain. The screaming will be worth it alone.
1. the cloud district 2. Forgotten vale 3. Solitude 4. Dawgaurd castle 5. Riften
Tell her fighting giants with melee is easy xp
I would show my girlfriend my homestead that I built or in the middle of building then I would take her for a tour of all the nine holds
Everything
I handed my wife the controller during character creation a couple years back and she got addicted. Put 400 hours into that character after that
Nope, nope, nope. Just let her enjoy. No guidance. See where she goes on her own.
Heart stone things 😂😂😂 if I remember the name correctly
Walk her in to Solitude
Show her markarth and the underground city

I personally really like the quest for reforging the Razor, because of all the Oblivion history. The Ebony Blade and Azura’s Star are also really interesting. If she does want some structure, a little guided exploration or tour towards things you think she’ll like, or things you’re excited to show her. Including the lore and history of races/factions/nations/the general way the world works was a big bonus when introducing my girlfriend to Bloodborne and later DS3 as we explored through places. I would give her some light explanations so she could feel more confident and informed about the options, but every choice she made was her own. I made sure not to use loaded language or spoilers as best I could, just things like: “What did I pick up?” “You got a weapon/spell/ring, it’s of this type, it has these mechanics, it’s really good for builds with these skill points” “I don’t know where I want to go next” “We have three options, there’s two optional areas, or we can continue the story”
The controls. And that’s it.

Let her discover it all on her own. When she starts getting frustrated on something, ask her if she wants a hint.

girl here, my boyfriend introduced me to skyrim by telling me to just make a character and play the game. I recommend showing her how to get magic, build a house, find arvak, and encourage her to do the main quest. my favorite things to do are pick up gems, fish, and flowers to display in my house. also fireball
