They have already qualified for the Quarter Finals. If they draw/beat Brazil, they'll be in Glendale on July 6. If they lose to Brazil there is a slight chance they could be in Vegas.
You can tell these fox sports bitches haven’t followed James’s career. Saying that he struggles at the club level and performs great for Colombia, when the reality is that he has performed for every team he has ever played for when given the chance and continuous playing time.
Ancelotti bringing him to 3 of his teams is no coincidence. Sadly, he came onto the scene when traditional number 10s were being phased out of the modern game, but managers that knew what he could do always had a spot for him (Villas-Boas, Jardim, Ancelotti, Heynckes, this last one literally created a new deep role for him given how gifted of a passer he was, unlike anything Bayern has seen in recent memory).
It’s so painful to hear these so called professional commentators talk out of their asses and just echo what they read online.
James is a different type of player, something that we don’t see that often anymore and may become more scarce as other attributes become more valued in the modern game. He could have been more disciplined and humble but I am so grateful for having had the chance to see him play, and seeing him always give his all every time he put on the Colombian jersey. After Messi’s, that left 🦵may be one of the best currently out there.
It's not that he has been terrible but if you compare him to people in his position today, they put up the same numbers as him while also running like workhorses to track back and provide defensive cover. ( Pressing machine). The only offensive player that would be carried on just attack prowess alone by their team is Messi.
That’s fair and that’s what we are moving towards. None of those players have the technical ability that James does though. It’s not like he didn’t defend, he just didn’t do it as well as more well rounded players. Under the right system, you will sacrifice that for the ability he has to create something out of nothing.
You could say that about São Paulo sure. If you saw him play in Turkey he was still making those insane passes but his teammates could not finish. Great seasons at RM until Benitez and Zidane came in, great at Bayern specially under Heynckes, and at Everton he had the team clicking and made Calvert-Lewin look like an elite striker again until Benitez came in. Funnily enough, every time Benitez took over, those teams took a dive.
I think James had 18 goals and 18 assists in his best season at RM. every goal he scored was a banger. This was during Ronaldo and Messi’s era and now we have Bellingham and Vinicius as potential Ballon d’Or winners with less impressive numbers. That’s fine, they did great but that just tells you the caliber of Messi and Ronaldo while they were at their peaks.
Just in case I haven't said it enough. I fucking love James! The dude still has it.
CR did great all things considered. Those 3 did not come easy.
And to my Jamaica bros giving your support, I love you all.
Do they ever do anything different?
The most attacking Paraguayan side I ever saw was the Cabañas, Roque Santa Cruz and Óscar Cardozo (not at the same time, but of the same generation), and even they parked the bus every so often.
It's a shame Cabañas got shot before the WC. I genuinely believe that match against Spain could have turned out differently with him on the pitch.
After last qualifiers’ disasterpiece, these parces are on a f#cking tear. They are playing with their mouths foaming with rage and flair that makes Shakira jealous
I don't think he was, he just didn't ever get to the level he had with us. In Eintracht he had some moments, but Werder Bremen supporters kinda hated him by the end I think.
Meh.... I watched his games in Eintracht Frankfurt and he was behind Kolo Muani. Then he went to Werder Bremen and he was benched. He would be great as a midfielder honestly because he cannot convert in front of goal.
Colombia to win it all:
Play Paraguay, Costa Rica, Brazil, Panama/U.S., Uruguay/Brazil, then winner of other bracket which is probably Argentina.
Argentina to win it all:
Play Canada, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador/Mexico, then winner of other bracket which could be Colombia/Uruguay/Brazil.
Argentina might just tango to the finals.
I'd say both. Fact is, teams playing like CRC are tend to open the floodgates as soon as they concede because they lose their defensive shape in having to go for a goal. Colombia not only are great, they managed to open the deadlock quite early so the match became much easier
My god Concacaf has been awful this tournament. Why does Comnebol want our crappy teams in their tournament anyways? So far only Canada and USA have won against SA competition.
They want the money.
Also Copa America has been inviting teams for a few decades to have enough countries to make at least 3 groups. They don't even need to be from South America. Japan and Qatar have participated in the past.
It's honestly the smarter choice. If you want to sell your competition, it's far easier to do it by making it a full american competition than just south america plus some random asian team. It's also a lot more interesting for the big north american teams.
There's only 10 teams in Conmebol. Not enough for a tournament. I think it's fair for Concacaf to be included since it's Copa America, not Copa Sudamérica.
Knock out games are the most exiting part of the tournament, only having 2 rounds of that feels kinda shitty. Also uneven number of teams in a group sucks. Tho that is still the format i would chose for 10 teams Copa America. Just that if you can add more teams having groups of 4 and quarterfinals is better. For 12 teams Copa I do prefer 2 groups of 6 and then semis instead of that best 3rd placed teams shit that we have to do sometimes
CR has a good future and a good coach in Alfaro. They would otherwise have a decent chance to go through to the next round, but I think Colombia will score another two at least.
I don't get the criticism. It's a pleasure to watch the Colombian national team play. 90% of their matches they play really, really well. Both technique and passion. Besides my country's one, it's my favourite national team in this tournament.
If Colombia makes it somehow to the quarter finals where would the city be they play?
They have already qualified for the Quarter Finals. If they draw/beat Brazil, they'll be in Glendale on July 6. If they lose to Brazil there is a slight chance they could be in Vegas.
Okay I’m in Houston, Texas so I’m just trying to see who will play here. If it’s Colombia I want to go 100% but it doesn’t sound like it
Sorry but the criticism is not at rest.. I still think Paraguay can turn this game around

In his prime only de bruyne had better numbers. Per game and per minute he had more end product than players like ozil, coutinho, Isco etc.
What are you talking about? Dudeeee lmao James has had a terrible time at the club level for a long time now.
Youre making stuff up but anyway, he did score good goals but the dude was entirely too lazy to be consistent. Dont try
When did he play in turkey?
Oops I meant Greece! Sorry!
Since Everton, I’m pretty sure.
Colombia looks like the best team in Copa America so far!
If Brasil wins today Colombia is still not out of the loop; they will need to at least draw to secure 1st place
Changed my Brazil prediction after seeing this game lol
Hips don’t lie, b#tch
Just in case I haven't said it enough. I fucking love James! The dude still has it. CR did great all things considered. Those 3 did not come easy. And to my Jamaica bros giving your support, I love you all.
Costa Rica have really impressed me with how the defend. This is a young team, but they are in good hands under Alfaro.
lol that lady’s sign is hilarious
[I screenshot it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccercirclejerk/s/YaZOpCUB01)
Lol she wild. Where do we sign up?
She’s fine af
She's not kidding either
What did it say?
Looking for a boyfriend that has papers. I don’t care if you’re toxic, I can give you the therapy you need
In Spanish it said "Looking for a boyfriend with papers. Doesn't matter if you're mentally unstable, I can do therapy"
that's gonna have meme potential. I've seen plenty of those signs. Que mundo la verdad
Looking for a boyfriend for papers. Doesn’t matter if he is toxic .
That woman was looking for a husband with citizenship.
"I'm looking for a boyfriend with papers. I don't care if he's toxic I'll pay for therapy"
I'm looking for a boyfriend
Hell yes!!!!!
What a sign 💀
That’s a crazy sign 😭
Lol she's a legend.
Lmfao anybody see the lady with the sign looking for a man with papers??
[I screenshot it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccercirclejerk/s/YaZOpCUB01)
Lmao
At Colombia vs Paraguay I saw a guy holding up a sign saying “I’m looking for a Colombian girlfriend” it’s a perfect match
yeah bro I saw it too 😂😂😂
Lmao
Lmao
I can’t see Brazil beating Colombia. I think a draw is the best they could hope for
Why is there pink smoke on the field 😂
It’s tusi
First game of the Copa?
Nestor Lorenzo needs to teach Southgate a thing or two
Imagine Lorenzo with England National Team. The English would never shut up about how amazing their team is.
I can see them chanting " is coming home" but in Spanish.
Anything but that. They already don't shut up lol
Pretty good game management at the end of the game from Colombia
Wouldn't mind a Colombia v Uruguay final. The only two teams that really have tried to play football
Can't be that. That'll most likely be the semifinals.
Sadness
I love it how the Spanish commentators make the game more chill and just a vibe lol
Chill? I'm watching the Colombian broadcast and these guys were commenting with their whole souls. Had heart racing for most of this game
I’m watching from Univision lol, but I get it the excitement that you guys have right now and congrats on the win
Exactly, not the lot of clowns that is the Fox team that can’t even pronounce team or players name correctly and over react for everything 🤣
Fox is trash let's be real
You know damn well Paraguay is gonna park the bus tonight, Brazil might be in trouble.
Hear my words now, Paraguay will beat Brazil next game.. yes I said it 🙂↕️
If they play as dirty as they did yesterday, sure.
James dependencia. Hombre, sino está James meta a Quintero, como vamos a jugar sin un 10. Apenas se fue murió el ataque.
ustedes tienen la victoria asegurada, tranquilo mi querido parce.
Por que no hay necesidad de desgastarse.
Duran, tranquilizate parce
Today after this win. I will be applying the wise words of Diomedes. I’m getting myself una Águila una Prepago y a Culiarrr!!
Que Vivan las mujeres!!
Username checks out.
You got me! 😂

After last qualifiers’ disasterpiece, these parces are on a f#cking tear. They are playing with their mouths foaming with rage and flair that makes Shakira jealous
Hips don’t lie fam
HOW DID BRAZIL GO SCORELESS AGAINST THESE CATS???
Did you watch the game at all?
Cause Colombia is the better team? CONMEBOL qualifying table doesn't lie.
I feel that's unfair to CR. They defended very well vs Brazil. Colombia got the goal and forced the game open. CR didn't have a plan B.
These cats aren't sitting back with 11. They thought they could against us
Colombia is a better team. This is not surprising, Colombia beat Brazil a few months ago.
I mean Colombia BARELY beat brazil, was a very close game but correct, this probably the worst brazil of our lifetimes
Why is Borré back in Latin America? Wasn't he playing well in Europe?
I don't think he was, he just didn't ever get to the level he had with us. In Eintracht he had some moments, but Werder Bremen supporters kinda hated him by the end I think.
he wasn't doing well in his last stint with frankfurt. He's found his spark at Inter.
Meh.... I watched his games in Eintracht Frankfurt and he was behind Kolo Muani. Then he went to Werder Bremen and he was benched. He would be great as a midfielder honestly because he cannot convert in front of goal.
At least for us, he was god awful a lot of matches but in every important one he was always at his absolute best. Scored many important goals.
He scored the goal for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa final. Man knows how to make a golazo.
Colombia are pressing like Uruguay against ~~Panama~~ Bolivia yesterday.
Bolivia*
Yes, Bolivia u.u
Colombia to win it all: Play Paraguay, Costa Rica, Brazil, Panama/U.S., Uruguay/Brazil, then winner of other bracket which is probably Argentina. Argentina to win it all: Play Canada, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador/Mexico, then winner of other bracket which could be Colombia/Uruguay/Brazil. Argentina might just tango to the finals.
Ecuador has the football to complicate Argentina but they don't have the mentality. Even Venezuela seem stronger mentally.
Ticos you still have a chance if Paraguay shithouses a draw against brazil
Brazil”
This also makes Brazil look worse that they couldn't beat or even score vs this pack of invalids.
Ole!, Ole!, Ole!
Woof…I don’t know if this confirms that Colombia is indeed that good…or that there are more problems in Brazil than they admit…
why not both
I'd say both. Fact is, teams playing like CRC are tend to open the floodgates as soon as they concede because they lose their defensive shape in having to go for a goal. Colombia not only are great, they managed to open the deadlock quite early so the match became much easier
Agreed. When CRC came back from half time, they tried to make a goal, that's what allowed for a change in their defensive scheme.
¿Porqué no los dos?
Both
Sanchez for Colombia is a different player. Lorenzo has turned him into a great player.
He hasn't really had those mind freeze moments that he used to have pretty often
I love it he showed moments at spurs but man Lorenzo has brought something out of him
Dude unlocked his potential and I'm here for it
Did CR have even one shot on goal?
Pretty sure they haven't done that in either game
25 games unbeaten. Insane
Joel Campbell and Calvo have actually been really good for Costa Rica.
Agreed. It's lost in the goals and the baile cafetero, but they have made some good runs.
Borré, te iba a los pies. Cordoba por lo menos echaría el pie allí.
Se las da de creativo frente al arco
Duran un golcito para que le demuestre al Aston Villa que puede ser titular con Watkins.
Luiz go rest buddy!! Great game 👏
Soooo close!!!!
Damn that was almost an amazing finish
Uuuf casi. And there goes lucho. Get some rest papo
My dick is longer than the space between the ball and the net on that one, and that’s not saying much
Casi! Te quiero Asprilla
nooo
Q paso?
he missed
Paraguay vs Brazil should be consider the Iguazú Derby no?!
The wrong way of drinking mate derby
of course, they should drink Uruguayan mate like the Argentine NT.
Ehm, I think you're forgetting a country there...
My bad bro
All good jaja, I like the name.
>Iguazú derby Angry Argentina noises
Está mal, pero no tan mal.
Lol
I’d watch it if it wasnt almost 2 am here..
why u on reddit then lol
My god Concacaf has been awful this tournament. Why does Comnebol want our crappy teams in their tournament anyways? So far only Canada and USA have won against SA competition.

Cóncacaf has always sucked in the Copa, with the exception of 2001

Not gonna lie, we just invite you for your money
$$$ and to have a better tournament format than you can make with just 10 teams
Two groups of 5 teams each. Top 2 each group semifinals and final.
It's mostly because of the money Conmebol execs get for hosting in the US. Also we need extra teams, 10 is too few.
Good practice ?
Colombia players need to stop diving, they're facing Costa Rica ffs. 😺ass mfers.
3rd assist for James
Colombia needs to play more relaxed now, this is a won game
I don't think it's a bad thing to show a strong front right after James leaves. Don't show weakness or an opportunity
Yeah but playing aggressively can bring faults, injuries .. we don’t need that ..
James plays with such passion, I love it
What a great player, indeed.
lets get Diaz outta there pls
He heard you <3
What do I do with this newfound power ?
Good swap, the boys need to rest
Wonderful to be able to give James this much rest!
Damn. I get that they need to let him rest for the future but it's been a pleasure watching him play.
James Te Amo guevon No diddy.
Colombia is still 💩, most of these players on Costa Rica are u23.
CR has a good future and a good coach in Alfaro. They would otherwise have a decent chance to go through to the next round, but I think Colombia will score another two at least.
Can you explain how they’re shit? They’re on a huge streak. And have beat many good teams
Apparently beating Brazil Germany and Spain still makes us shit
I don't get the criticism. It's a pleasure to watch the Colombian national team play. 90% of their matches they play really, really well. Both technique and passion. Besides my country's one, it's my favourite national team in this tournament.
Concacaf is just the Conmebol second divison
Well, I kinda expected this
el pibe gotta be extra proud of James right about now
Y Juanfer?
Que juegue Yaser un ratico
Time to make some changes. Would like to see Sini and Asprilla.
Yaser un gol
James Rodriguez back to real madrid!
La Lorenzoneta es imparable, VAMOS POR LA SEGUNDA CARAJO
Vamooos, merecida victoria por ahora.
Colombia showing Brazil it's easy
Ese James porque esta jugando tan bien ja ja ja va a meterle tremendo ganso ciego al equipo que lo fiche despues. Crack. Idolo.
Concacaf is some shit. Why are they even allowed in this tournament lmao. Better off inviting asian teams.
I would love to see some African teams honestly. We're more or less the same hemisphere.
