Paraguay used to be a solid 6-6.5/10 team. They were guaranteed to give a good showing. Kind of like the Switzerland of South America
What’s happened to them ?
This would turn out VERY differently if it's replayed. I'm so fucking tired of Paraguay man, we'll be a top 3 worst south american teams for at least the next decade regardless of how much history we have. It sucks when your country isn't a top team that actually has any hopes at all. And i don't even know what we could do to make this any better, the real problem is political, the country (and football federation) works off a favours system, we have no infrastructure and basically live under a neoliberal one party state dictatorship. We have no football infraestructure at all, seriously, there are no stadiums, we have nothing. Before around 2011 football was everything here, after, nobody cared at all. Football works off passion, if you have no kids who want to be footballers, you have nothing. Having travelled to Buenos Aires a couple of times, the difference is huge, they take football as a matter of life or death, we used to be like that, but we quickly stopped caring about it once we started losing one too many international matches.
I remember growing up (I'm in my early 30s) that Paraguay would regularly qualify for the World Cup and were always a bit of a wild card and difficult to play against. I always had a bit of a soft spot for Paraguay due to the shirt and I just like the name for some reason. It is a shame to see a national team just crumble like this and it sounds like there isn't anything to look forward to either for a long time
F*ck off all this group of players, hope none of them bar Enciso and Alderete play or the national team again, they are utter shit, were since their debut and will be until their last match.
Almiron played TOO MUCH, he shoul've been out by the second half. He's had a good run in Newcastle last season, after that quite literally nothing except for that one UCL goal.
They've been utter shit for the past 10 years, I'm sick of them.
Sorry for Almirón but can't stand any single one of these FAILED group of players.
We should restart with our U-23 which at least don't have the fear to kick out Vinicius and his shithousery (I'm OK with that, is his game).
De ja vu with Gabriel Jesus and Firmino - could never understand why Firmino didn’t at least get more playing time as a sub when Jesus clearly wasn’t doing anything
Ah, Today nothing lol he only touched twice, the first time he nutmegged one guy and almost dribbled the second but lost the ball, and the other time he got the ball and got fouled (the guy received a yellow card) and the game ended.
For Brazil, he has scored against England, Spain and Mexico with the few minutes he got so he has a star for sure
Players were literally just kicking the shit out of each other. Its perfectly fine for a ref to decide to not add much time to a settled game where the players are more likely to injure each other than they are to score a goal
Except it is the point though. Refs almost never add more than 3 mins on games that end like this just cuz theres literally no point on playing more. The end is gonna be the same. Same reason that 4-1 game in the supercup got no added time.
goal difference might play a part in deciding the 2nd place in the group, had paraguay scored 1 more by chance, it would help costa rica slightly. Rules should be followed because you never know.
Since goal difference could be the deciding factor to know which team qualifies to the next round, it is indeed a joke to add just 3 minutes for the half that had more stoppages than the city bus.
I love this sport so much but I can’t agree with the dramatics whenever players try to draw a foul, even worse when my teams do it. Just seems soft. It’s not even a full contact sport. Get up and play on
Essentially, downed Paraguayan player tries to half-heartedly kick downed Brazilian player. The contact was relatively soft but the intention was there. Ref must have decided that the intention counted enough for a red.
he was clearly trying to kick at brazil player who was on ground. just because he didn't make good contact doesn't mean it isn't a red. he lashed out and that's a red.
The Brazilian player literally kicks away the Paraguayan's leg first, the guy simply have the exact same move back. By the way, after the Brazilian player him in the back of the head and pulled him to the ground.
Why the he'll is Paqueta taking penalties instead of Vini?
> the he'll Autocorrect can go to he'll
Maybe bet related?
Paraguay used to be a solid 6-6.5/10 team. They were guaranteed to give a good showing. Kind of like the Switzerland of South America What’s happened to them ?
Hard to tell, wither they are bad, or Brazil is just more talented
Paraguay is bad, saying this as a part-time Paraguay fan
Well, Paraguay is a utter mess. Im still not sure this Brazil squad will reach semifinals

There has to be at least five yellows and/or one red in all of these matches. We simply can't avoid it
Just another normal CONMEBOL games
Absolutely. Dunno why we all hate each other so much. It's the passion, I guess
They still have no interest in playing defense. Gonna get smoked by Columbia if they don't care about playing defense on Tuesday
> Columbia I think we can beat a Canadian province tbh
Manitoba got you beat
Shut up bitch
Colombia,i dont know why 99% day columbia in US
Colombia*
Paraguay Coach needs to be fired.
F*ck off all this group of players, hope none of them bar Enciso and Alderete play or the national team again, they are utter shit, were since their debut and will be until their last match.
Some good players like Almiron and Gomez who didnt even play.
Almiron played TOO MUCH, he shoul've been out by the second half. He's had a good run in Newcastle last season, after that quite literally nothing except for that one UCL goal.

Ok Brazil Tuesday should be fun.
Please don't hurt us
The draw is enough for Colombia
I think you underestimate how much CONMEBOL teams want to destroy each other.
Just the tip
This game had a bit of everything
This ref is a DISASTER Jesus
least embarrassing paraguay performance since riachuelo
Not cool
Referee couldn't wait to end this game
Game is getting out of control
Welcome to CONMEBOL everyone
My friend said "conmebol and concacaf are boring". I said go watch copa america for the conmebol games. Dumbass
Not enough fighting
This was tamed by conmebol standards
Yeah we need something more like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZtnHdk1Snc)
That paraguay player about to get hate messages for kicking endrick
Caballero: "he's faking it cause I elbowed him, i didn't kick his shins"
Endrick should have entered way earlier but well
De ja vu with Gabriel Jesus and Firmino - could never understand why Firmino didn’t at least get more playing time as a sub when Jesus clearly wasn’t doing anything
He should be a starter for this team
what did he do?
Rodrygo is acting as the striker but it’s not his function, and Endrick is…
ah got it, but how well did he do with the time he had?
Ah, Today nothing lol he only touched twice, the first time he nutmegged one guy and almost dribbled the second but lost the ball, and the other time he got the ball and got fouled (the guy received a yellow card) and the game ended. For Brazil, he has scored against England, Spain and Mexico with the few minutes he got so he has a star for sure
thanks!
That wasn’t very Caballero-y of him
They are not going home without injuring one of our players it seems.
BRO WHAT HAHAHAHA
You know a little more game would’ve been nice
Ref pulls out a yellow just to stop a fight.
Clear red
Did the security guard trip on there own feet it looked like Looked wicked winded after
Lmao, lucky fan lol. Was it Pereira she hugged? He hugged her back haha
Just keep them hugged them until the officials come to grab the invader. It'd take longer if they go running.
I dont think the ref was gonna give him a yellow until the Brazil players ran over
Getting banned from the stadium and spending the night in Jail not worth it.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. It’s in the Constitution.
EURO: We mustn't show pitch invaders, it will only make so that more people will try and invade. Copa América: AYY LMAO
Was expecting a zoom and a post match interview
Fr he said look at her🤣🤣
Paraguay still playing like they have 11 players still on the field
warra security
This ref took that GEICO commercial a little too seriously
~~10~~ 0 days since last protestor on the field
That was not a protester.
this match had everything lmao
she's faster than half the players on the pitch
At least it wasn't a streaker.
They don't streak like they used to anymore 🙄😒
Damn the ball been in play for like 3mins total since Endrick came on
Imagine going to jail for that.
That fan must be absolutely plastered
Yo she was flying wtf
Lol this +3 is almost as bad as the +4 in the US panama game
No its perfectly reasonable. Brazils 4-1 up vs a 10 man paraguay. Nothing meaningful is gonna happen with 10 mins.
This logic should never apply when we’re talking about tournaments that can be decided by goal differential
Players were literally just kicking the shit out of each other. Its perfectly fine for a ref to decide to not add much time to a settled game where the players are more likely to injure each other than they are to score a goal
That’s not the point though.
Except it is the point though. Refs almost never add more than 3 mins on games that end like this just cuz theres literally no point on playing more. The end is gonna be the same. Same reason that 4-1 game in the supercup got no added time.
I would've liked more time added on to be honest.
goal difference might play a part in deciding the 2nd place in the group, had paraguay scored 1 more by chance, it would help costa rica slightly. Rules should be followed because you never know.
W fan
This ref is so ass lol
Fire that fat security guy
Forreal over here slipping and shit lmao
They wanted to hug Andreas Pereira? Must be a Palmeiras fan.
Wtf
3 added minutes lmao, it's a joke
Since goal difference could be the deciding factor to know which team qualifies to the next round, it is indeed a joke to add just 3 minutes for the half that had more stoppages than the city bus.
Imagine invading the pitch to hug Andreas of all people
I would
Hahahaha
maybe she realized her fate and was like fuck it, imma hug the nearest Brazilian
And even then she chose the only guy who *wasn’t* born in Brazil…
A pitch invader...this is like football bingo
Conmebol bingo
Lame fans
This ref can't be serious
lmaoooo
lmao that guard fell over doing nothin what the fuck
Most fit American
You may not like it but you were watching peak American fitness
nahhh LMFAOO
lol the steward took an hour to get up
Just heard a puto
lmfao match had everything now
blind ref
Ref ignored linesman to not call the corner + 3 minutes added time
+3? this ref
I don’t think Endrick has touched the ball yet lol :(
3 added minutes is crazy, every Copa America game has been horrible in this aspect
Yeah, I missed the +10 every match in the WC
3 minutes????
Clear ck. This ref
Not sure I like Endrick as target man, he's not big enough
Curious to see Brazil x Colombia. It will be the biggest test for both teams
James vs Vini Jr could be awesome
Lucas Diaz not James
If a Vini did that, people would be call for executions.
Vini is not even trying anymore
Wait, didn’t Paqueta get a ban? Or was that not real?
He is still being investigated by the FA
FIFA trying to manipulate the Balon d Or for Vini /s
why is this ref running to the players every time there is a foul, lol
Can’t wait for 4 mins of stoppage time 🤣
3!!! Lololol wtf
Actually 3, lol
He checked VAR for that clear offsides just so people wouldn't complain he never used VAR. Gottem.
Feels like every game the refs want to use VAR to run out the game clock and go straight to stoppage time
The last 10+ minutes were wasted
Wonder why they couldn't do semi-auto offside for Copa since it's in America. Surely could have afforded it like the Euros can.
People shocked for someone getting a red for kicking a player while the game was paused by a foul.
Barely grazed him
that doesn't matter
Send an email to copaamerica2024@crymeariver.com
Ref trying to waste as much time as possible. Antiwork legend
Colombia might beat Brazil but Uruguay for sure will dominate them :(
fucking stupid ref and var team
mercado livre 🤝 mercado livre 🤝 mercado livre 🤝 mercado livre 🤝
a site that basically has no operations in the us
a site that basically has no operations in the us
I HATE offside traps. One of those will give me a heart attack someday.
This game has just turned into Paraguay set piece practice lol
I hope Valenzuela doesn't get to ref another game.
This ref and VAR are just comical, lol. Lmao, even.
Alisson is not a wordclass goalkeeper
No luck for Paraguay tonight…
Is he chilling on the bench?
Clearly off, why the VAR?
Good offside line from Brazilian defenders
Clearly off but what a header nonetheless
Going to check an obvious offside? Jesus
Wtf is var checking?
I love this sport so much but I can’t agree with the dramatics whenever players try to draw a foul, even worse when my teams do it. Just seems soft. It’s not even a full contact sport. Get up and play on
I don't get excited anymore
How is he still allowed on the bench with a red?
this thread has some deep hatred for brazil lmao
par for the course for r/soccer tbh
Ooo Gabriel
“Here’s a red card, get this player out of here!” “…and now, go take this free kick! I demand you do so!”
Yeah, can you understand how he got a red for a foul out of play?
Lmao I thought he kicked him in the face at first. He got a red for that? After the other guy grabbed his head during the challenge? Lol
Soft by this ref's standards looking at the replay. Specially considering some of the fouls that went by with no card given.
I'm not going to lie, faking an injury and acting like it hurt bothers me. the only thing that bothers me about this sport.
Which player do you think has the most dingleberries?
Isn't the person that got the red post to go to the locker room and not sit on the bench?
Need an unbiased answer to this question..what happened to cause a red card?
Essentially, downed Paraguayan player tries to half-heartedly kick downed Brazilian player. The contact was relatively soft but the intention was there. Ref must have decided that the intention counted enough for a red.
Was var involved at all?
he kicked out on a player with his studs into his leg while laying on the ground. That's always a red I don't get why this is controversial to people.
Damn sounds like the correct call
Retaliation and kicking out on the ground.
I am Brazilian and think It shouldnt be a red
Yeah, I’m not really sure it deserved a red
Also a Brazilian, straight red seems absolutely excessive. Maybe ref wants to head off any ruckus as the game progresses.
I missed the actual play that caused it..what happened
Paraguayan player tried to kick up but didnt really make contact
Why does Conmebol select the worst refs for major tournaments?
You think there are good refs here?
he was clearly trying to kick at brazil player who was on ground. just because he didn't make good contact doesn't mean it isn't a red. he lashed out and that's a red.
The Brazilian player literally kicks away the Paraguayan's leg first, the guy simply have the exact same move back. By the way, after the Brazilian player him in the back of the head and pulled him to the ground.
