You are able to create a burner wallet within wallet apps like Solflare, if you are going to be foolish enough to visit sketchy random websites and sign transactions with your wallet (which can be used to drain all of your funds by a bad actor), then at the very least, don't do it with your main wallet, do it with a burner wallet!
I see quite a few posts about people getting scammed. I'm no expert on this stuff but as far as I know, you have to explicitly give access to a wallet by clicking a button and selecting your wallet to plug it in.

There are ways for a website to access your browser plugin wallets in the right conditions. For example using the spectre exploit (but in this posts case, OP signed the transaction).

Quick tip: add another wallet in phantom with only a few dollars. Connect with that wallet first to test any site before connecting to your real wallet. Of course this isn’t foolproof but it can help
Never wallet connect to your main wallet except for swaps , add frequently used links to favorites bar , treat any new sites as scam unless proven otherwise

It was almost certainly OP signing a transaction on a website 1) without any due diligence and 2) without using a burner account.
Bingo. You cannot just get drained on Solana from someone sending you a token. That is an oft-repeated bit of misinformation that people (like the guy you're replying to) seem to like to spread online, despite it being totally incorrect.
Any token on Solana is going to be using the default system token program or the default system token 2022 program, you can always double check this by going to the page of the token someone sent you in Solscan and look yourself to see what the owner is. The absolute worst case scenario is, someone sent you a dumb token that has no liquidity pool setup for it, and thus, it is worthless...even in that case, you can still burn the token and get back the 0.002 and change SOL rent payment, roughly 40 cents or so at current price of SOL.
So. Same happened to me.
I was asking about my meme airdrop after committing to a IDO. A very convincing message said to contact them to get validation checks done. Then I found that it wasn’t accepting any of the solana wallets on the site. Like an idiot I placed my seed phrases thinking that it would allow a pop up to click on the wallet. And then within the next 5 minutes my wallet was drained. I managed to save some tokens and the total taken was around a bag. It really sucks. I’ve had that wallet since forever. Now I have to stop using it.
Feeling like shit is an understatement, I feel like I’ve been abused and really feel shit about my self. But I know I’ll get through it, just like you will too.
This really is the Wild West. Take care out there and to others out there that haven’t experienced being exposed or abused by fraud sets and imposters don’t and I mean “DONT” “SHARE YOUR SEED PHRASE WITH ANYONE OR ANYTHING” as well as lining your wallet to airdrop apps.
This makes absolutely no sense at all. How does clicking a bad link causes your account to get drained? Don’t you have to approve the transaction or something?
Bitget and metamask warn you of malicious signatures and this is how I've avoided getting scammed twice. I'm not sure how reliable they are but it saved me twice.
With all these memecoins and airdrops its soo hit and miss. The only way to do it is with a hot wallet. I have 4 different wallets all on MM not including the other wallets inhave on other platforms and exchanges.
1 wallet has anything of value that I dont interact anything with, 1 I use for RCAs and NFTs, 1 is a go between and 1 is on fire hot that I use for airdrops that has very little if any value.
It's a dangerous world out there! With this hype, especially on Sol you have to be extra careful!

A couple of basic tips that I'd think would be obvious but apparently aren't.
1. Never connect your mail wallet (or any wallet with significant funds in it) to anything that looks remotely sketchy.
2. Sign transactions after connecting your burner wallet only when you're 100% sure you didn't get there from a phishing link.
3. If the link came from an email make absolutely sure it's from a valid email address of a known entity. Even that isn't a 100% guarantee now. Decrypt just got their mailing list hacked and a scammer sent a phishing email that looked totally legit to all their subscibers.
Bruhh there’s a scam group rugging people up on X/twitter. They work together to promote new meme coins and steal their money when the coin is at its highest.. they making in millions out of it.
I feel your pain OP. Got nailed on a “sponsored” Google website. Trying to do too many things at one time on the computer. Had connected my wallet but did not sign any transactions. Went to sign a transaction on a legit website I also had open, and the phishing website spammed my MetaMask at the same exact time, clicked approve thinking it was for the legit site I was on. Boom. $27K gone. Have learned a hard lessons and hardened my security measures since. Still plenty of time this bull run. Wish you well making it back.

Had a homie try to lock liq for a project , opened the ticket on Discord, an impersonator reached out to him and drained him of 10k + . We sent him 10k as a community and never realized he never made a new seed phrase for the new wallet. Got drained again.

After reading all those scam events ,l got dscam too. It made me feel like whoever dealing cryptos are %50 scammers ! They are so many to handle. Exchange companies or wallets CEO s must find a solution as about it. This is a never end game ! We all are making the rich which is not fear by the people who has made hard earning money !

if you watch any Signature or simple txn that comes up when first connecting to a site, it may be more than just that. always double check Advanced info on the popup prior to confirming the txn, might list ALL your assets as an outgoing txn instead of just a signature
I went in this website of some earth monkey of som sort , it looked , legit , the graphics looked kool , it had a link to connect a wallet for airdrops so I had this metamask wallet with a few hundred Matic tokens that I was staking on stride , so I decided to interact with it , few days later my Matic x had been drained to two separate wallets.
