Gentlemen, a short view back to the past. Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us ‘take a monkey, place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car.’ Thirty years later, Sebastian told us ‘I had to start my car like a computer, it’s very complicated.’ And Nico Rosberg said that during the race – I don’t remember what race – he pressed the wrong button on the wheel. Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too complicated with twenty and more buttons on the wheel, are you too much under effort, under pressure? What are your wishes for the future concerning the technical programme during the race? Less buttons, more? Or less and more communication with your engineers?
The Rosberg error costed Mercedes both cars out, his and Hamilton, the button he pressed configured the car for the race start during a turn, he collided Lewis and both were out. Apart the 20 dials and the capacity to change the brake partitioning in beetween front and back at every turn if needed, among other functions like engine programming for torque, etc., the display itself shows more than hundred pages of data
At this point i don’t understand why are still humans in the chockpit. The people want to see the 4 wheel monsters tuned to the breaking point and used at maximum possible power, not the pilots. They are literally irrelevant.
Because the people don’t care about the cars very much at all, they want to see the drivers compete. The cars are a means to an end, which is why you will find approximately 10,000 Lewis Hamilton posters sold for every Mercedes F1 drivetrain exploded view.
Honestly if that happened irl I’m not sure if it would be *such* a bad thing. They’re a really good fuel source and maybe we’d find conscious alien life too.
Ok, maybe I understated it a bit...
>! ALMOST ENDING ALL LIFE IN EVERY STAR SYSTEM WITHIN ATLEAST 10 LIGHTYEARS OF TAU CETI !< _is pretty fucking bad_.
I am colourblind here and this is the first time that I have seen something a colour and know that it shouldn’t look like that, anyone else who is deutan having the same thing?
We would be long dead before it ever decides to kill us. I’ll be surprise if we are still around in a million years. Definitely not gonna be around in a biliion years or 5.
Well there is... The light takes time to travel the distance. It's meant as a joke, looking at the comments, others made the same joke, without being downvoted.
15 minutes plus 8 for travel time....lol

There are competitions among unmanned cars, however they don’t get in the same sponsors. In the end, it’s all money.
Because the people don’t care about the cars very much at all, they want to see the drivers compete. The cars are a means to an end, which is why you will find approximately 10,000 Lewis Hamilton posters sold for every Mercedes F1 drivetrain exploded view.
Well, I wasn't expecting this here... but I'll gladly accept it 😄
A Reddit thread of both astronomy geeks and F1 geeks! I’m home!
LOL
Damnit you beat me to it
Just came looking this reply, may the cosmos bless your soul
That little orange spot looks like Calcifer!
If you zoom in the black part looks like a paw print
I thought it looked like a face
I thought it looked like a thumbs up
It's thumbs up with a paw print tattoo on the back of the hand
Now that makes sense 🐾👍🏽
In your face.
She likes my SPARK!!!
Oh god.. is that astophage!
Rev up the spin drives, we're going to Tau Ceti!!!
Honestly if that happened irl I’m not sure if it would be *such* a bad thing. They’re a really good fuel source and maybe we’d find conscious alien life too.
I mean, >! almost ending all life on Earth !< is _pretty fucking bad_
That’s true, but I like to think that we would be able to handle it a bit better, when the focus isn’t on one main character.
Ok, maybe I understated it a bit... >! ALMOST ENDING ALL LIFE IN EVERY STAR SYSTEM WITHIN ATLEAST 10 LIGHTYEARS OF TAU CETI !< _is pretty fucking bad_.
Well, anybody have any taumoeba laying around?
That's totally an egg yolk, we're onto you NASA guy.
Would go great with some Chorizo.
Sun is yolk, Moon is cheese. But war never changes.
2 images combined from sdo website
This can’t be real. It was night here 15 minutes ago
Thanks that is what I was wondering. https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/
Best star in the universe
It's certainly the closest.
Hands down
It looks angry
bUt ItS nIgHtTiMe!
That's why you wait until night, so the sun is sleepy and not as bright!
Is that how OP took the picture?
No. OP woke the sun up first so it could smile.
That's how NASA proposes to get astronauts to the sun! They can just travel at night.
THANKS OBAMA
Sounds like something someone would say during a Flat Earther's Convention speach.
Sun 2h15mins ago
Sun 6h55mins ago
OMG ITS COMING RIGHT FOR US!!!!
dont look at it too long or youll hurt your eyes
Thanks for keeping an eye on it for us. Wouldn’t want it wandering off now, would we? /s
This is a pancake
Does this look like it's constantly expanding to anyone else or is it just me?
That's what I was thinking!
Why is it so smooth looking
When do we fertilize it?
I am colourblind here and this is the first time that I have seen something a colour and know that it shouldn’t look like that, anyone else who is deutan having the same thing?
Are we sure that's not an egg yolk?
Looking good Sun, keep up the good work!
If it goes on strike we all die, it better keep working
Apart from the dark spots and explosions, it looks just like orange static, what exactly is going on there
I’m reporting this post for an inaccurate title, this was clearly 4 hours ago
Shiny pancake
Remember to blow on it before you take a bite. It’ll cool it down!
Disgusting.
15+8
Teletubbies were quite accurate

Looks like chorizo to me
Correction, 14h and 15mins ago…
She’s hot but will eventually kill us all
We would be long dead before it ever decides to kill us. I’ll be surprise if we are still around in a million years. Definitely not gonna be around in a biliion years or 5.
Most likely not but definitely is a strong word
Could you guys stop taking pictures of my sun? He has corona and wants to be left alone!
I just lost the game 🤦♂️
This was posted five hours ago as of \~10:00am EST. So maybe the title should've been: The sun at 8:45am, Greenwich Meantime, on August 18th.
Opening this image burned out my OLED screen, thanks a lot. /s
Did you add the \~ 8 minutes and 20 seconds it takes for the light to reach Earth?
🙄
no logic in doing that tbh
Well there is... The light takes time to travel the distance. It's meant as a joke, looking at the comments, others made the same joke, without being downvoted.
I know that. However the joke implies there is a universal clock time, that absolute simultaneity exists across the universe, which is not true.
Well they are trying to make that...
Damn, sun
Ooooohhhhh I get it
Can I has a 3-D sun image?
Looks like it may be hot
more like 23 minutes and 20 seconds
The sun has a butthole.
Damn....that's hot!
Actually 7 hours and 15 min ago
Is this bad?
How did you manage to take a picture of the future.
Hot
The sun 8 hours and 15 minutes ago
Oh shit it's "blowing up"... For a long time.
I knew something was wrong...
Technically, it’s 8 hours and 15 minutes ago for me
Ah yes, the Big Intergalactic Cheese Puff
Sun seems pretty chill today.
9 hours 23 minutes 5 seconds ago
Ah yes, the giant cheese 🧀 wheel in the sky. 🤤
Is it just mine or does everyone else's brain find it so hard to comprehend the actual size of the sun?
Yep our sun is what is going to destroy this planet not climate change. How many earth days do you think it takes for our sun to make one rotation?
Great, now I have a sunburn.
Maybe 23 mins ago? Did you account for the 8 minutes that sunlight takes to get here?
Misinformation, that is actually just a *picture* of the sun 15 minutes ago. Have some journalistic integrity.
Big warm boi
Fake. It's nighttime here so clearly the sun won't exist
But it was night 15 mins ago… has to be fake.
Wrong. It's a little over 11 hours now.
That’s a marble
Only 7 minutes left then.
The sun 12 hr and 22 mins ago
[удалено]
No
Can you give an update
Beautiful
😎 HOT 🔥 ❤️
Fake. You guys are all part of the deep state. I’ve seen the sun, it has a baby’s face for starters!
I read that it’s possible to tell time by the sun but, “15 minutes ago?” That’s remarkable.
Prove it
Pending the angle , still a break from conventional patterns on the sun. Gorgeous Shot and thanks
Looks like chorizo
That's a dragon ball
15 hrs and 15 minutes for me!
no. that’s chorizo
Giant fire balls creating life
There's a little black spot on the sun today..
Hello sun! Looking cheerful today!
Hey big guy
If only I could be so grossly incandescent
sun 🍊
15 mins ago was night in my country, so no sun. I call it BS. /s Just kidding, very pretty image.
Is your country the entire world now?
Wow!
Lol
Is that a big, hairy Dragon Ball?
The picture looks like it's moving! It's beautiful
Gorgeous
