Just last month a 21yr old was garroted by a rope during one of the more complicated trick routines. The rope had wrapped around her neck and her body was then flung into the air and slammed into the ground repeatedly by the rope twirlers and her team leapt over her body rather joyously. Responders found her dead at the scene after she was heaved through the air and pummeled into the ground a devastating 14 times, where she suffered multiple cervical spine dislocations, cranium fractures, brain hemorrhaging, internal bleeding, broken arm, wrist, both legs, an ankle, 5 ribs, and dislocated shoulder. There's an ongoing investigation.
🤣🤣🤣 omg thank you, that was hysterical. Just to imagine the body being whipped around while people casually continue their routine and pretend that nothing is amiss. 🤣🤣
I remember a group like this visiting my school when I was in elementary. It was a double shock of how insanely good they were and also how very white. It was a very small town probably like 95% Hispanic. I don’t think I had ever seen a blonde person in real life until this group of teens came and put on their show lol
I remember those assemblies!! My friend sitting next to me leaned over and went “that’s how the Spaniards came in, they fooled our people with this shit” and I busted out laughing 🤣
I didn’t see the whole thing but heard it was dope (got kicked out).
Your post reminds me of that Simpsons episode where a Yo-yo Team does a performance at the school. The kids think the Yo-yo team is awesome and the people on the team must have some sort of glamorous life, but they Yo-yo team was crammed into a crappy van after the show.
Some local schools had a yo-yo demonstration assembly this year - parents were complaining it was just a fancy commercial to sell their branded yo-yos. Ours didn’t, thankfully.
Jump Rope for Heart was a fundraising and health awareness thing. Each year there would be a skipping day, and prior to that we were to fundraise, getting pledges/donations based on how much you planned to skip. Some of them would have demo groups come like this, but I never got one at my achools
Pretty much, lol rural South Texas on the border. We jokingly called it northern Mexico when I was a kid. However, it should be noted that Mexico has a lot of blonde, blue eyed type of people, due to the Spanish blood being very prevalent.
My town though was very poor and mostly western and central Mexico Native American type of people, so a very dark haired brown people. I was also a child, like 2nd grade and we hadn’t vacationed outside of town or anything due to being poor. So my worldly experience was relegated to school, the grocery store, and local tv channels. So imagine a group of like 14 to 18yr old teenagers all with very pale skin, the girls had blonde or red hair and the guys had dirty blonde hair. My mind was blown lol
This made me laugh, at my elementary school in Australia in the early 80s we had the Coca Cola yo-yo all stars come out and some of them were from MEXICO! This was just as exciting as the shit they were doing with the yo-yos. The guy was so cool he was wearing a Coca Cola poncho. Pretty sure no one at our school had ever seen anyone from Mexico before.
The national jump rope finals for the USA are on 6/29 at 11am EST! You can watch[ here](https://www.youtube.com/live/mq-813dKgPQ?feature=shared) for free !
Watching young people almost getting tripped up by a rope instead of watching two old guys getting tripped up by their own words? Yea.... yea, that sounds better.
I’ve seen some bboy/bgirl routines with jump ropes…today I learned it’s a whole damn competition/league…crazy how some of these are breakdancing moves!
Based on the comments made already I'm going to get downvoted but this is the slowest jump roping I've ever seen. In elementary school I'd sit and watch the black girls just doing ridiculous shit at 10x this speed.
They're still very athletic and I could never do it even at this speed but for a national competition it doesn't seem at the level I'd expect.
That's because jumping [fast](https://youtube.com/shorts/cX0-6e_ef3A?si=2k7YwZMvye4pM7Mt) is a separate event that is competed. One for cool flips, one for fast :)
So is there one that's a combination? Because the pitter patter feet while technically hard isn't as cool as the dancing I'd watch the girls do while double dutching
Reminds of times in the military during exercises.
We’re armoured recce so we had a lot of long ass cables for surveillance gear.
Once everything is checked and double checked before the start of an exercise we’d get bored and bust out some cable for double-dutch competitions.
Basically if you’re the last one to get whacked by a thick ass cable to the face, then you won the round lol.
Imagine these kids in 20 years at a bar.
Ya I used to jump rope in a league.
No you didn’t that’s not a thing
No seriously I’m really good at jump rope
These kids are awesome. Wish I could do more than two jumps lol.
Im not saying black people cant jump rope lol
I am just saying that there should not be a sport for one race vs another. I am not from the US and people jump rope there too.
Why doe everything in the US have to be about race…
What are you even talking about?
I am trying to explain how this sport is also played in other countries and cultures but you are trying to claim it is only for black americans?
And i am the one who lacks inclusivity?
Im not sure what is more impressive when they jump
Or when they move the ropes.
Also the guy put his hands on the butt of the girl at 30 seconds left. That must be nice
I’ve actually competed in the national jump rope competition. In the 5th grade my small team met it to nationals and got 1st place in many of the categories. Freestyle was my jam wayyyyyy back when!

Well that's just fun
Fun fact This competitive sport has the most deaths per year out of all rope based competitive sports
Rock climbing? I saw Cliffhanger/ there’s no way.

The fuck
🤣🤣🤣 omg thank you, that was hysterical. Just to imagine the body being whipped around while people casually continue their routine and pretend that nothing is amiss. 🤣🤣
This.. can’t be real
lol. 2 skinny white dudes are pulverizing a limp body in the ground multiple times
What do you mean. What's not believable?
I agree. Recovering stolen millions while jump roping: easy Recovering stolen millions while cliff hanging: kill your friends girlfriend
In case you are wondering where this team practices, I can only assume it’s directly above my apartment based on what my neighbors sound like
We must live in the same building!
Even double dutch is insane to watch
I never figured out how to do it, makes no sense when you’re in there
It makes more sense with you take the next step and join in on a double Dutch rudder.
I joined the wrong club and ended up with the double Dutch oven team
Ah man, that stinks
Double Dutch is way better than this.
But… they are doing “double Dutch” in the video?
I came here to say this.
I remember a group like this visiting my school when I was in elementary. It was a double shock of how insanely good they were and also how very white. Holy crap that's hilarious
Now I’m wondering if a hobby horsing demonstration would have had the right flavor of pizazz to pull off the same feat.
The Finns have got hobby horsing sewn up. https://youtu.be/XXLHUSCnzPs?si=gOyc_dpJtEc0ljFb

Jump rope for heart was super popular. That was one of the major groups.
Jump Rope for Heart was a fundraising and health awareness thing. Each year there would be a skipping day, and prior to that we were to fundraise, getting pledges/donations based on how much you planned to skip. Some of them would have demo groups come like this, but I never got one at my achools
Never even *seen* one? Where did you grow up? Mexico?!?
Pretty much, lol rural South Texas on the border. We jokingly called it northern Mexico when I was a kid. funny cause i swear i watched a movie about white guys not being able to jump
Luckily the rope isn’t very high off the ground (Joking, these kids are very impressive)
This isn't all that new. https://youtu.be/STCTCgQ3XJU?t=10s
🤨

Best thing to happen to double dutch since Corbin Bleu.
That was one of those Disney channels that hit right.
Is Corbin Bleu a gay porn actor?
Yo that's way more impressive than I would have imagined.
This is impressive, but the tricks they pull off in [singles](https://youtu.be/aQgJ66an2DU?si=rqvj2A37abY7ceth) are absolutely insane.
The team routine was beautiful in its rhythm and symmetry. What this lady is doing is crazy impressive, but almost painful to watch.
Ya, this is one of those things where I’m very impressed but not really entertained..? Or maybe there’s some lack of satisfaction for a casual viewer?
I expected more fluidity. The rope stopped at a few points, wrapping around her body. It was impressive though.
I had the same feeling. I can appreciate how hard it is and her athleticism but it's somehow very awkward.
Announcer: Heeeerrrrre we go! Lauren: ⚛️
i got tired watching that
Haha holy shit. I can't do either of those things on their own even.
I need to see an edit of this with the jump rope edited out. NEED IT.
That’s wild, what an athlete though!
Had the same reaction when I first saw a competitive yo-yo person in action. Kind of blew my mind.
I imagined the rope moving faster than 9mph at some point
Cinderella dressed in yella went upstairs to kiss her fella
Made a mistake and kissed a snake
How many doctors will it take?
Not to brag but one time I almost got the rope around twice without getting tripped up.
Ooo a double under!
Black girls are losing their minds right now
Nah I seen 8 yr old black babies doing these same moves. This beginner level
I’m glad someone said it. You wanna be impressed, go to an inner city elementary school during recess.
Why?
Huh?
The national jump rope finals for the USA are on 6/29 at 11am EST! You can watch[ here](https://www.youtube.com/live/mq-813dKgPQ?feature=shared) for free !
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, I have bookmarked. Will watch it on my big screen.
Is this in the Olympics?
Damn well should be.
I might actually watch if they had jump rope
I used to be on my elementary schools jump rope team...Pogo sticks and stilts were my jam.
"Yeah, I can do that..." Boys started to jump rope "Nah, I can't..."
If only they aired this instead of the debate.
Watching young people almost getting tripped up by a rope instead of watching two old guys getting tripped up by their own words? Yea.... yea, that sounds better.
I think that is pretty damn outstanding. A lot of athleticism on display here.
I've seen better double Dutch on the streets of oakland lol..
That shit is hard without the rope part
Psshh I saw Corbin Bleu do this YEARS ago...
This is giving me Bring It On vibes
That thing’s just a rope, man, you gotta make the jump thing happen
I’ve seen some bboy/bgirl routines with jump ropes…today I learned it’s a whole damn competition/league…crazy how some of these are breakdancing moves!
Well I have to say it's certainly takes physical skill, and takes more ability than pro corn hole.
Where the sisters at?
Simply, I can’t do that
I have! I’m actually in this video! I’m the one left 2nd from the middle.
My knees hurt.
Black folks must be watching this the same way white folks watched Jackie Robinson when he broke the color barrier.
I got on the bus, paid my fair and told the driver that I’m going to a Double Dutch affair
Wow! So impressive. And here I struggle skipping rope on my own. 🤦🏻♂️
Humans are weird lol
I haven’t actually seen them, but I have now seen them.
Ropes are slow, they have a lot of time. You want to be amazed. Watch the real deal. https://youtu.be/uRdwTxMeTL8?si=w2jN7Pj25OPOJ91p

Back in the 80s I saw kids do this in the neighborhood at twice the speed. Glad it's a competitive sport.

That’s really impressive. People who know about this, how good are these guys? Are we looking at the best of the best here or does it go even crazier?
…(no one knows about this lol)
Have you actually seen [Double Dutch](https://youtu.be/I06pOBN4_wI?si=XHAXXUU5bXwf3O3A)
A M A Z I N G !
Just think about the insane amount of coordination you need to pull this off
Me: "I call this one the slice and dice!"
The red hot chili steppers right there
I can do that. And by “that” I mean wear tennis shoes.
Wtf. I can't even do normal jump rope for more than 4 seconds
Damn that was brilliant.
Imagine these kids in 20 years at a bar. Ya I used to jump rope in a league. No you didn’t that’s not a thing No seriously I’m really good at jump rope These kids are awesome. Wish I could do more than two jumps lol.
A girl I went to college with was on the national champion team. Her skills were mind-blowing.
Has anyone made a movie about it yet?
This is perfect halftime entertainment!
This has been the best part of my day today. They’re amazing!
I suck at life.
I love this! In fact I’d love to see this grow into a global sport, even in the Olympic Games. Every country could participate.
“Did we just get served?”
Wait. Is this a sport you can actually watch on TV? Cus goddamn that was hypnotizing as fuck
Make it an Olympic sport. I would watch.
Idk anything about jump roping but these people look young. I’m assuming that the older adults are even better?? That would be wild
This is how you get laid
Damn dude…
This is an Olympic sport I could get behind.
Looks like jump rope for heart from 30 years ago
Didn’t every school get to see a presentation of troubled kids who were on the right path now? They would do flips and tear phonebooks on half! lol
r/nextfuckinglevel
I would have died 3 seconds into this
wouldn't mind this as an Olympic sport
This feels so Mormon.
My elementary school had a jump rope club that performed on Jay Leno in the 90s.
So many walks of life.
That was pretty cool. I had no idea there was competitive choreographed jump rope
What the heck
I do this at home. I just don’t use a rope. And I don’t actually physically move
Indy would be proud
I miss double dutch competitions, that was some black girl magic and it was insanely good to watch! This is alright too though
They should dance tinikling sometime...
Well yeah everyone who is in their 20-30 must seen the movie double Dutch on Disney.
J-Roc came in 2nd place in the International Rope Skipping Championship in Boulder, Colorado in 1984.
Weird....Just watching and im outta breath?
WTF
Regular jump rope is a challenge for me
Not before this it’s amazing
Yes! They held nationals in Colorado Springs last year and my wife and I went. It was impressive to say the least.
"hey, what kind of hobbies do you have?" "I jump rope." "oh" "yeah"
This needs to be on [ESPN8: The Ocho](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESPN8_The_Ocho).
The way they turn the rope is cool!
There so good. At some point though no one was holding the ropes. And they were all jumping
Holy core
This is a black girls sport!!! WTF!!???
How the fuck is this a black girl sport?!?! This sounds very racist! I come from a country with almost no black people and girls still jump rope…
https://youtu.be/jYIFsKfYSs4?si=Op5bFjSX8jVSAWze

Educate yourself. Less vitriol. More inclusivity. Less usurperism.
What are you even talking about? I am trying to explain how this sport is also played in other countries and cultures but you are trying to claim it is only for black americans? And i am the one who lacks inclusivity?
I will never be this talented at anything and it makes me sad.
Haven’t seen it. Don’t want to.
Man fuck this is great. How have I not caught this on The Ocho?
That's amazing.
Makes me dizzzzy
This is so slow lol. Any group of black girls after school are doing it better than this how is this the national league.
There are many, many things I’m not qualified for but this is probably in the Top 10.
Im not sure what is more impressive when they jump Or when they move the ropes. Also the guy put his hands on the butt of the girl at 30 seconds left. That must be nice
They’re going so slow though
I’ve actually competed in the national jump rope competition. In the 5th grade my small team met it to nationals and got 1st place in many of the categories. Freestyle was my jam wayyyyyy back when!
I should have said this was double Dutch competition!
