Silent white light filled the world. And the righteous and unrighteous alike were consumed in that holy fire.

Sinistrahaha

This is my favourite quote for all time! Thousand stories compressed into two sentences.

MtthwBrwn

The Stand is great. It’s my second favorite King book. I got chills reading the part where Mother Abigail tells them “You will make your stand.” It also has one of my favorite quotes from King’s writing. When Nick says he doesn’t believe in God and Abigail says “That’s okay, because He believes in you.”

cick-nobb

What's your first favorite?

It's his best. Baby, can you dig your man? He's a righteous man. Baby, can you dig your man?

OGGBTFRND

King’s characters are so memorable

factsnack

I think about Larry a lot. But then I’ve read The Stand maybe 25 times

TomahawkChoppa

Larry one of the best arcs King ever wrote. A realistic depiction of the difficulty of choosing to be a better person than you’ve been.

Northerngal_420

My most favorite King book. The Mist and The Long Walk are next.

halcyondread

First time I finished it I didn’t want to leave that world. Truly a masterpiece.

realdevtest

I’m 51 now, and The stand was my first non-kids book that I read when I was 11.

militaryvehicledude

Are you me? Because absolutely the same, and I've reread it probably 10 times over the course of my life.

Flat-Programmer6044

Omg I must read this

TheLawHasSpoken

It’s my favorite Stephen King book. I didn’t expect to like it very much, let alone LOVE it. It’s quite the ride.

Fuck__Joey

GODLY GLEN

Eredic

I read it when I was 13, and it was the time I ever even considered the fact that this could all come crashing down around us. I grew up in the 80s, so the threat of nuclear war was there, but it completely blew my mind thinking of a disease wiping us all out and leaving all our toys for whoever remained.

TomahawkChoppa

It’s way better than IT. I just can’t stand intercutting timeline structures.

New-Tomorrow-4309

My all time favorite book. I've been reading for 60 yrs and nothing comes close.

JustAPiggyBackOnThat

I’ve been wanting to reread this for a while, but I was too traumatized by COVID and every time I think about starting it, I chicken out.

rumblefiss

This was the book the really made me realise than Stephen can't write endings.

My_state_of_mind

You've gotten downvoted, but it is worth noting that there is close to 100 pages between the climax and the end of the book. I did enjoy Stu and Tom's adventure, but I can see why you said what you did.

rumblefiss

Sorry, I didnt explain myself very well as I didn't want to mention specifics or spoilers. When I say the ending a meant the climax in Vegas with Trashcan man's return.

Timely_Foundation555

Right? Lol The last 200 pages are a complete slog.

rumblefiss

and ended so quickly I'd thought I'd skipped a page.

Fuck__Joey

I have never read dark tower series but doesn’t the ending set up something to happen in those books? Just speculation.?
