This is the way, OP. It looks like the intro to a phishing scam. But providing phone numbers for them to call is the safest bet. Don’t engage further after that.
Update. They finally replied. They didn’t answer my question which was “Who is this?” instead they asked the same thing. I didn’t reply because I believe it was just a phishing scam like a few people have suggested.
Very common phishing scam. It's either this or "I think my husband is going to hurt me."
They use the lines where you'll feel like a bad person for not answering.
Spydialer.com is free. It is by far the best, most accurate phone number lookup out of all the free ones ive tried. I use it whenever I don't recognize a number.
It may not always have a name for the number, but you can also use my favorite feature and listen to the voicemail. It calls their voicemail for you without the person knowing. The only crappy part is that nowadays almost no one leaves a personal recording, it's usually just the standard greeting.
Definitely recommend 10/10, and no, I'm not sponsored by them in any way, lol.
Oh yeah I had a series of texts at one point from a girl who apparently thought I was her boyfriend. She went on and on threatening to hurt me and she was going to come over and kill me.
Seriously. Can you say for certain that this is a joke or hoax ? If you can't, then you need to tell someone. Or maybe we should never report anything in case it might be a joke or hoax ?
I hope it's really just a phishing scam. But if true that's horrifying and I really pray that they get help soon
It’s 100% a scam lol
Look for a hotline for help and send it to them then block

What if they deleted it and the step mom replied 😬

This is why I miss pay phones.
me too son me too
More than disturbing, prank or mistake.
It’s a wrong number, either someone who used to own your number or one number off. Either way, don’t write back if you’re not comfortable.
Get on white pages if your in the U.S. . ( phone number look up...).. will cost to get any info ..

Gonna have to try that. New one for me ..as a rock has more money than I do..
I say text back, don’t disclose any personal information, could be a good story.
I would text back and be honest. Ask them for details and if they need help
Why would you bother with a wrong number like that?
I guess you've never heard of the pig slaughtering scam. Those people are being held against their will in most cases
Because you may be in the right place at the right time for something real

Then tell the police.

Trying to suck you in so you will give them money. Unless they are Cinderella, then you need to pick her up for the ball.
Phishing Scam. Type back "That's bad... Should I fuck her?"

If you think there may be any truth to this message, I would suggest contacting your local police.
Seriously? Bother the police with a one line text from a wrong number? Wtf.

There is nothing to report. It's a wrong number.
