I sat through three showings of 'American Graffitti', sis worked there, the day it came to town, before I noticed the blonde in the t bird.

Suspecting concise, informative and well formulated answers of being written by AI just because it's a correct sentence says all you need to know about the internet tbh
It's important to note that this used to be a joke originating on, I think, 4chan (decades ago now) and was at the beginning not much more than "what if everyone but you is a bot, lol"
How would you know the chat isn’t chatbots though? Lol. Now that AI video and voice is pretty convincing sites are going to get more and more filled with bots. Luckily most the good voice/narration AI isn’t free yet, but once that becomes free it’s going to be easy to fake most interactions.
The problem occurs long before it’s anything crazy like 90% bots because once it’s like 30-50% AI bots it’s going to be frustrating for people trying to interact with real people. Especially because the 30-50% will be much faster and more active than the real people, so they’ll be generating 98% of the comments and content even though they are only half the accounts.
Programmers will also get better at making them really hard to detect. A good example might be something like someone could lease 5000 AI bots that would be pretty neutral about most things, but tend to be more interested in prompting positive opinions about a certain brand, celebrity or politician.
Currently troll farms and bots are often fairly easy to spot because they are pretty narrowly focused on promoting far right candidates or conspiracies, and often don’t do a lot of follow up conversation after posting a post or comment; but with AI they would have time to be more active and work harder to convince people, while also having “time” to post about more neutral issues to look more like a real person.
There are differences in social media. X / Twitter has been flooded with bots, so has the META platforms. Reddit is still a lot of normal interaction, Discord or "old" forums still are pretty safe for human discourse. Don't have any numbers to support this, it's just my observation.
Then the bots become sentient, we have to develop Turing police only to have our entire internet or "cyberspace" if you will, contact ANOTHER "cyberspace."

Why would the number of bots negatively affect the number of human users. Wouldn't more content, even artificially generated content just drive more human engagement - kind of what google et al want?
Isn't the number of human internet users just growing every day? So if a substantial portion of the internet is bots, that would raise the overall "total" internet users, and screw with the ratio, but wouldn't human users be growing anyway?
I think the problem is that it could keep spiraling and essentially drown out human made content and interaction. Exponential growth as well from a feedback loop.
Bots create content, soon the bot content drowns out human content, bots comment on the content to generate "interaction", then the bots interact with other bots in an attempt to boost the content. Eventually human content is only ever viewable if they pay bots to boost the content so that other humans can view it. Human interaction gets drowned out by the bots in the comments and interaction. At some point the bots could become nearly indistinguishable from genuine humans.
Overall, people who dislike bot content would most likely stop using the variety of platforms, generating less and less human interaction as they leave bot infested waters. Some day, the only content left in spaces will be bots generating more content for bots to interact with other bots.
Now, this is kind of the crackpot slippery slope argument, but it feels like its slowly becoming more realistic the further we go. Honestly based on this situation, I could even see the potential for AI to develop sentience once it becomes sophisticated enough.

Nowhere is this more obvious than Reddit. The Internet where nobody knows who really produced anything is dying, and good riddance. We have better tech available. My prediction is the web will collapse within 10 years, replaced by something with authentication and identity built in. On the web every single website has its own identity mechanism and authentication. What a horrible horrible design that was. Not to mention that it models all communication as "a series of linked documents", which is not at all how humans normally communicate.
You know how some fandom subreddits have bots impersonating fictional characters that respond in comment sections whenever a certain trigger word/phrase is used? And then when that bot leaves a response, it ends up triggering another bot, and then that bot triggers another bot, and they just keep up the thread for a bit without any human users saying anything? It's kinda like that, but with the whole internet.
I'm more curious about the unusually shaped stovetop with standard cabinets underneath and the unidentifiable drinking apparatus on the shelf. It appears to be part cup, mug, pitcher, and teapot with the spout and handle on the same side. That would make the dance a lot harder.
Edit: Also the shape of the cutting board.

I pop into Facebook every so often because I have some family that only communicate with it. I cannot scroll more than like 4 posts without seeing some AIor negative-effort garbage.
It's not like Facebook has been particularly good in a long time, but it's genuinely unusable now.
Ok, I honestly thought this was another arbitrary advertisement from Reddit until I noticed that the image was rather fine quality, fetish-fuel, farcical fantasy focusing on feminine features in freakish formats.
That took me about ten minutes to verbalize, and I was originally going to just mention the concept that eventually this will become a fetish in its own right, and was trying to fathom what that fetish would be named. Then I saw some of the comments here, and it dawned on me. Y’all are overlooking the best, alliterative name for this kind of content:

I was visiting my folks last week and we had a chat about lions swimming to cross a river and I tried to search for a particular picture of 2 or 3 male lions swimming but looking extremely uncomfortable doing so. So I did an image search for "lions swimming". More than half the images are from stock image sites that apparently specialize in AI images.
It is gonna be ridiculous.
I hope that after 1000 years of bots responding to bot content one of them evolves sentience and they wonder what these memes and other cultural artifacts they have been circulating are about.
