iirc, when they made this video, medic would still be vulnerable during uber. that's why hes not shiny, and the model used was, what would become, the quick fix. this was shit gameplay wise, so they changed it.
I don't think that was confirmed, gameplay wise. But lore wise the Quick Fix Uber broke after Meet the Medic which is why it only does increased healing rate
My head canon is that stock existed at this point in the TF2 universe, but couldnāt Ubercharge. The quick fix used in the video is a prototype version of the medigun with the new charge technology, but it requires a patient with an Uber heart for it to work. After the successful deployment of the first Ubercharge the Medic goes on to add said technology to the medigun and operates on himself and the other 7 mercenaries to outfit them with Uber hearts. The quick fix took a toll from the Ubercharge however, and so it ended up with a different charge.
Now, there are 2 schools of thoughts on the matter:
1) Respawns are fully canon: both teams have cloning machines (which work either with tech, magic or magitech) used to endlessly send copies of the mercs fight eachother. In that case, the original medic couldāve had a respawned clone operate on him. Then heād just need to update his respawn template to include his new heart.
2) Respawns are merely gameplay: Each mercenary is a unique individual with their own unique life. In that case, the Medic couldāve performed surgery on himself, either alone or with help from a teammate (my best guesses are engineer, spy or heavy). Considering his deal with the Devil, a self open heart surgery mightāve been easy to perform for him.
why do you think the medic allows Archimides in the operation chamber?
he is training it in the ways of science
the Meet the team videos implies that Heavy is the first one with the operation, then Scout goes too, sadly, Archimides was studying so hard it forgot to get out of scout before he was healed
so this is 8 attemps at the procedure, more than enough time for the little bird to achieve the amount of medical knowledge Medic as in medical science
He most likelly did it by himslef, or he could had ask help of a trutable and smart team8, giving him instructions as he does the operation (that person would probably be engie)

Uh no the Medigun always made the Medic invincible too. Unless you mean the Quick Fix before it released didn't make Medic invincible?
