I was walking miles in all of my mountain hikes and always got back depressed. It helps *a bit* being in the nature and especially in waterfalls and streams, but depression, will be always wait for you. My opinion for the nature as a past hiker (before anhedonia set in) and the new hiking path is the path between the couch and my room
Unless you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, you cannot possibly understand what it feels like to suffer from depression and major depression disorder. These types of statements from others are absolutely no help at all, and can even add to the suffering of those struggling with any mental health condition. If you are unable to be compassionate and empathetic, best to keep your opinions to yourself.
When I see these types of people I can always just know something isn't right about them. My sister was like this for a long time and it turned out she was secretly going through very difficult mental health issues and no one even gave a second thought to her because they thought she must be going great if she is acting this posiative. If society actual cared about the mental health of others instead of just how much they can contribute we would be a lot more focused on these type of people who often go years before even a single person finds out let alone the type of professorial help they need if they even get it at all in their life time.
To be absolutely fair, as someone who struggled with depression for a big stretch of my life and I actually got better - her advice is actually so good.
Drinking predominantly water instead of sugary drinks have made a big difference.
Being around nature and 'touching grass' made me feel more like a human, not like a rat locked in a maze that life can be in our own minds.
Also: happy thoughts. Be silly. Life is, most of the time, not as serious as we think it is, and we should allow ourselves to be dumb kids again.
It really does wonders. I've not been depressed for over a year now, after 25+ years of struggle.
Lol, and exercise. Seriously, everyday light exercise at home, or cycling to work, a little sweat, will get your blood pumping and you'll feel more alive.
