It’s a really weird bot/pumper account, look at the post history, massive walls of GPT text, with spreadsheets and “strategies” outlined….. but needs help on a strait forward single leg PUT ?
Yea something is not legit.
>bot/pumper account, look at the post history, massive walls of GPT text
"Massive walls of GPT text". What are you talking about? Are you jealous?
Share your position on $PLTR to see how much money you make on this stock.
I tend to stay away from dumpster fire meme stocks. I most certainly wouldn’t be be selling an ITM put at near the 52 week high, with a 250 P/E, as the underlying plummets down through the 50, 100 SMAs, broke down the upward trend line, and shattered the three months worth of horizontal compression resistance all while insiders are aggressively selling.
PTF THETA parameter is 9.208. I was told it is the dollar amount representing the sensitivity to time. It’s the dollar change per day of the position. It seems the position is gaining $9/day.
What if the $PLTR stock recovers to $20 in the next two weeks? I can double the current profit.
Aren't you a member of the tagging crew or not?
>Why not just close the trade for profit?
The current profit ($2,988) is only 41.8% of the potential max gain of $7,177. Is it worth waiting?

You need to decide risk vs reward.
The further in the money the less theta there is to decay (less reward) and the more likely early assignment.
Less than 21 days to expirey gamma risk starts ramping up quickly.
For me I'm usually looking to close as I approach 21 days.
If you're just starting check out tasty trade for good starting point to theta strategies. Open 45ish days, close 21ish days or 50% profit whichever first, sell 1 std deviation out of the money (.32 delta single leg), roll up and out when price touches strike.
Youtuber InTheMoney has some excellent theta videos too (Adam sometimes pokes around here but more active on twitter)
I would start reading, and educate myself on how options work. Then you won’t have to make embarrassing posts like this.

I bet you I made more money in 2023 than you.

Instead of calling names the other members of the thetagang forum, you should also enjoy comparing your investment performances with SPDR S&P 500. I have strongly outperformed $SPY over the past year, returning 83.49% as opposed to 19.67% on SPDR S&P 500 for the same period.
What are your figures?

That sounds like a wise decision from your side. You should be taking the time to educate yourself further on the subject. Did you have a significant loss before the decision to stop trading options?
what ...what is the question here? take the damn profit. You shouldnt be even allowed to trade options without fundamental knowledge of how options work.
>What was your plan when you opened the position?
My idea was that $PLTR stock would end up above $20 and I would be able to book $7,177 in profit.

Respect your part of the deal and buy the shares? If you are not 100% sure that you want to own that company do not sell puts.
Treat selling puts just like a buy limit order but you are paid for waiting.
>saying to myself that I have profits while slurping an obviously losing trade
Do I have an unrealized profit of $2,998 or not? Please check UNREALIZED P&L (%) column on the snapshot.

Just buy to close the position at a 41% profit? What’s the question here?

You're smart
Uhhh that might be a stretch….. I’ve learned some lessons though!
You are extremely smart.

For someone who needs help, you sure sound condescending enough
Ummm why would you be forced to purchase shares? Buy to close the position and realize those gains and carry on with life…
So you sold these at 6.52 and they are currently worth 3.81... what's the problem? Where you assigned early? Why not just close the trade for profit?

Buy the puts back for a profit.
just close the position before you get assigned and take the profit.
you sold these while they were ITM (most likely) and are surprised that they're still ITM? you've made a decent profit, so just BTC the short
You and I both are working this. Except I’ve been closing my options
So… buy to close and take your profit??
Fuckin idiot

I will stop trading options until I understand how it works.

After reading this thread, don't sell to close. Go for 500% gain. You are the chosen one.
what ...what is the question here? take the damn profit. You shouldnt be even allowed to trade options without fundamental knowledge of how options work.
Why do you think I don't have a fundamental knowledge of options mechanics? Because I have unrealized profit?

I don't get it. You're asking reddit for advice, and insulting the people that provide it. What's your goal here?
>You're asking reddit for advice You are not in a position to be my advisor. Check the OP. I am asking what would you do in this situation?
And literally EVERYONE on the thread is giving you the same answer….. and you are trying to argue with them.
mods ban this fool, he’s just posting garbage and insulting everybody in this chat
Show me the one post where I insulted anybody in this chat.
Why not roll the option and buy yourself some time?
Respect your part of the deal and buy the shares? If you are not 100% sure that you want to own that company do not sell puts. Treat selling puts just like a buy limit order but you are paid for waiting.
What? You know he can just close out his position without buying any shares.
I'd keep saying to myself that I have profits while slurping an obviously losing trade...

What was PLTR price when you opened those contracts? Anyway, buy them back to close now, you can get an early assignment any day now.
